Best Tyres for the Hyundai I30N

These are an awesome dual purpose road/track tyre. Great in the wet (though may aquaplane more readily in deep water) and dry road and fantastic in motorkhana motorsport use without having to have a separate set of rims and tyres. Reasonable mileage for what they can do. Will last twice as long as the AO52 though not quite the ultimate grip that these have, especially in the wet. Have replaced with more road orientated Advan Apex V601 and will go back to the AD09's as just not up to scratch in even light competition use so the comfort equation doesn't make up for it's lower performance. You really can't beat these for a high performance tyre that is just doing lower mileage.

On my I30N I went from ContiContactSport7 to Michelin Pilot Sport 5. I found the MPS 5 grip to be about the same in the dry and slightly better in the wet , however I really have noticed that Michelin is more datty and more vague than the Conti's, I find that I am not as sure at the limit how the Michelins will respond.

In terms of comfort the Michelins are a bit better but Contis but the gap is not massive, rolling resistance seems about the same on the highway I was getting 6.7l with the conti's and I am getting 6.8l with the Michelins not much of a difference but could also be they are not yet broken in.

Noise seems about the same on the highway and I can't really speak to ware yet for the Michelins but expect them to be about the same as the Conti's. I was going to get the Conti's again but the Michelins were such a good deal it was worth a giving them a go, so far so good.

My god I had great expectations but it was a lot better than I expected!
My comparison is the PZ(4?) I got with my Hyundai i30N (front left peeled off in chunks after 4 x 30min track on a GP style track - maybe it's me, fair enough), and Continental Sportcontact 7 I used for about 1.5 year, 20k km and 80-90 Nordschleife laps.
The P Zero R is on a whole another level, like a different category. A few months ago I was doing 9:30 Nordschleife laps consistently (9:17 best ever lap) and last week on same type of trackday I just did 9:12, 9:11, 9:07 and 9:00 in basically consecutive laps (and I was held up for several corners by a slow car in this last one! Admittedly I upgraded rear pads and added front brake cooling but I firmly think the majority of my speed was solely from my tyres. The brake cooling just made sure I don't cook my brakes with the added level of punishment.
I felt the days before the track day that I just enjoy more spirited right/left turns, as the car 'leans' on the tyre it just feels better (can't explain) already but man the track experience, best trackday ever. I just wish it didn't end and my brakes could take more punishment, these tyres are something else.

They are firmer compared to my SC7 for sure, like half a suspension setting on my i30n. They look healthy to me now, just a proper heat cycle and some shoulder wear as it's normal with a street car I think, but I don't know how they last in terms of tread OR just stickiness in general. There's no way a tyre this good lasts long. Tyres aren't exactly cheap nowadays but these ones? Considering the price I paid and other tyres cost, this could be say 20-25% more and I would still lean towards buying them (please don't increase price I'm poor and it takes significant lifestyle sacrifice to save up for a couple trackdays a year with all the costs :) ).

Lasted about 20k km so far, 80-90 including Nordschleife laps (~ 1600 km track), 3mm left.
Still usable for the remainder of the summer season I assume.
Response is pretty good. My reference is Pirelli P Zeros that I liked more for feel, but these are fine and I enjoyed using them on track. I would describe them as doing the job professionally, without drama on the limit too. The german stereotype fits.
I did have aquaplaning at 100kph on highway where water crossed the road during rain which was scary. I also had a bit of a oversteer a couple of times on wet track but it is what it is, I don't have a lot of comparison but I should probably go slower during rain no matter the tyre. On normal wet roads, grip and braking were fine under normal circumstances; I hardly even noticed it's wet.
They are not quiet, they are bearable. Comfort levels weren't great but my car has a pretty stiff suspension and I used 235/35 r19. If this was super important for me I'd choose a different tyre. Grip and noise seem to work against each other in tyres; as well as responsiveness vs comfort (because of stiffer sidewalls I assume?).
I was very happy with the durability. I was recommended these tyres by an instructor that works at a track and they use them on track taxis and he was right they lasted very well.

Done 4k miles so far, showing little sign of wear and is fairly efficient to drive on. Previously drove on PS5s which were at the end of their tether so this was an immediate upgrade. The car just grips, have yet to have an issue with these. Done several launches as well and had very little wheel hop.

Only issue I've found is the slight resistance in getting the car going with them which if you're stuck in traffic, can eat away even more at your fuel economy.

Very good value for money considering PS5s are about £50+ dearer
