Given 41% while driving a Audi A4 (235/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 43,000 spirited miles
Surprisingly poor especially performance as I choase to pay more to get these tyres than replace the Dunlop Sport Maxx already on the car. These tyres didn't last very long either which was disappointing, but at least it meant I could revert back to the more superior Dunlops sooner!

Given 56% while driving a BMW E46 3 Series (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 108 spirited miles
SportContact 2's replaced the original SportContacts and gave a lot less dry grip. The original tyres could easily handle fast curves staying stable and predictable but the SP 2's couldn't hold the same speed and would often break away activating the stability control. This is a bad sports tyre, at least on 16" rims. I have recently switched to Goodyear Excellence's which have no problem beating the SP 2's on grip, progressiveness and comfort.

Given 50% while driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI (205/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 68,000 spirited miles
Only 14k on the front two. Became very noisy last week as I wasnt expecting to be replacing these just yet. AS the VW recommended rubber they should be better than this. Very disappointed in the wear although the performance has been quite good for spirited but steady driving. Performance in the wet has been very good and I have never been unduly worried by a quick corner. Dry performance has been un-noteworthy, but they are not prone to spinning at move off. Only the wear factor will prevent me from buying these again.

Given 73% while driving a BMW E34 M5 (245/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 30 spirited miles
These are one of my usual tyres that I use on the M5 - the other being Michel Pilot Sport PS2.

Over the years I've tried various recommendations, from Avons to Toyos, and Pirelli to Yokohama, and have consistently come back to the Michelin PS2 and Conti SC2 depending which was the better value at the time.

I find the PS2 to have the better grip in dry and wet conditions, but the CS2 is not far behind and lasts about 20% longer (10,000 miles for the Michelins, vs 12,000 for the Contis) and the Contis give a bit more feel.

Other tyres I've tried and dismissed are Toyo T1-S/R (tramline, wear quickly), Avon ZZ (useless in dry or wet), Pirelli P-Zero range (too noisy, uneven wear), Yokohama AVS Sport (decent dry grip, lethal in the wet), Goodyear F1 (good dry grip, couldn't move standing water quickly).

Given 79% while driving a Ford Focus mk2 (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 18,000 spirited miles
A decent all-round tyre on the Focus. Wet grip is definitely better than dry grip. It's quite easy to slide the tail-end of the Focus on a roundabout on the Conti's, but the feedback through the steering lets you know what's going on in plenty of time.

The tyres are very comfortable for fast road/motorway driving, but give a harsher ride around town. This could also be due to the sports-suspension set-up on the Focus though, and not a fault of the Continentals.

Reasonably priced at Blackcircles.com, the Conti Sport Contact 2 is a decent product, as a fair price. I would like them to offer a little more dry grip, but lets face it, living in the UK, wet grip gets tested far more often!

Given 47% while driving a Ford Mondeo (225/40 R18) on mostly motorways for 15,000 spirited miles
225/40/18 Conti Sport Contact 2 were standard factory fitment on various ST and Titanium X Mondeo company cars I've had. In all cases my overall opinon is that these tyres are awful. They are quite good in the dry and with all its tread and relatively quiet on such a low profile. Once worn to about 5mm any positives are gone. Wear rate is rubbish - front tyres lasted about 15000 miles with motorway driving. Wet grip is poor and they just love to aqua-plane at the merest hint of moistness. Since I bought a company car I tried Falken FK452XL when the tyres made of cheese wore out. ?35 a tyre cheaper, they lasted 5000 miles more, Falken FK452XL are so much better.

Good all round tyre, does everything well (not great, but not poor either).

Given 68% while driving a Lamborghini Gallardo (305/25 R20 W) on mostly country roads for 4,000 spirited miles
Replaced the original Pirellis with these about 6 months ago, noticed less grip in the dry but slide quite nicely.

Not had it out in the wet yet, meant to be quite good though.

Given 69% while driving a Mercedes Benz C320 (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 average miles
Fairly quiet tyres and seem to grip as well as anything else I've tried in the dry and wet.

I have to say the 4 bands give the tyre a really F1 look which is why I picked them!!

Recommended if not doing trackdays etc!

Given 74% while driving a Toyota MK2 MR2 Turbo (225/50 R16 W) on track for 2,000 spirited miles
Lovely balance, easy going but reasonably high grip tyre, driven many miles on these tyres and are always impressed, there are better tyres for ultimate grip but the Contis gentle breakaway lets you use the available grip, impressive in the wet too considering the non directional tread. Very little wear considering the hammering they have taken on track too. Oh, and it looks like an F1 tyre, can't get better than that!

Given 73% while driving a Porsche 997 911 (295/35 R19 W) on track for 1,000 spirited miles
These were Porsches choice on the 19" wheels of the 911.

Can't really fault them as a road tyre, staggering amounts of grip (but then it was a 911!) in both the dry and wet.

Did a couple of trackdays on them and was very impressed. Fronts overheated but only after a lot of laps!
