Dunlop SP Sport Maxx Reviews - Page 7

Given 69% while driving a Jaguar XKR (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 22,500 average miles
After just 22500 fairly gentle kms am having to replace both front tyres. At A$800 each I'm not tempted to repeat the experience!

These came as OEM on my car.I've travelled about 6,200 miles on these tyres and they should NOT have been catergorized as high performance tyres.
Not progressive and woeful in the wet.Dry traction is borderline if driven in a spirited fashion.
If you have a car with at least 300bhp stay away from these Dunlops.

Given 36% while driving a BMW E39 M5 (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 150 spirited miles
Fitted to an E39 M5 and completely ruined the cars handling. Rear of the car felt completely unstable. DSC light activated on undulating dry roads while maintaining a constant speed. Very unstable under braking and on corner entry. Changed pressures up and down which made no difference.

Stuck with them for 150 miles and had enough. Made a complaint to the supplier. They happily agreed to replace them with Continentals.

Given 39% while driving a BMW 325i M Sport (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Very poor lateral grip, i found them prone to letting go suddenly. Wet grip was poor. Not fit to be labeled a "performance" tyre. Threw them out before they were worn out, they were just terrible.

Given 83% while driving a Jaguar XF (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 25,000 spirited miles
I really cant fault this tyre, wear rate has been fantastic, grip is brilliant both wet and dry, even in snow and ice the grip is acceptable from a summer tyre. Driven slowly I had no issues.

I have just replaced the rear tyres with Vredesteins purely down to cost - £252 v £162 it really is a no brainer when the Vreds have a better write up from us consumers. I hoping im not going to be disapointed, as I loved the Dunlops they were awesome....Just hoping the Vreds perform as well.

Given 37% while driving a Skoda Superb II combi 2.0 tdi cr (225/45 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 20,000 average miles
Got the tires as standard OE on my Skoda Superb Combi. after 5.000 Miles tires got plasticky and started to hum and buzz - dealer said saw toothing occured - tried to solve with realignment, but it was OK in the first place, so tried to get them replaced under warranty from the manufacturer - nothing happened and they told me to just get used to awful sound of saw-toothed tires.
Crappy grip, stone-hard comfort and everything else lacking - DON`T BUY SPORTMAXX - they are biggest crap I ever had in my 20+ years of motoring.

Given 59% while driving a Volkswagen MkVI Golf GT TDi (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 29,000 average miles
Have these fitted as standard to a 2009 GT Tdi Golf. After 7000 miles the rear left tyre developed something called sawtoothing which made a horrible noise, sounds like a wheel bearing has gone. VW dealer knew exactly what it was and said they had trouble with this particular tyre. Dunlop themselves even said this was something that could happen and dosent compromise he safety of the tyre. The other 3 have lasted very well nearly 29,000 miles.

Given 39% while driving a Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 TSI 210hp (235/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 25,000 spirited miles
I replaced the Dunlop Sport 01's on my car with Sport Maxx's.
Sport Maxx's are the worst tyres I have ever had, handling became unpredictable, torque steering under acceleration was horrific. Under hard braking the ESP kept butting in. The car understeered when it previously hadn't. The car became a dog to drive.

I will never buy Dunlop Sport Maxx's again, yet the Sport 01's were spot on.

Given 83% while driving a Opel vectra c (215/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 3,500 spirited miles
I can't believe so many the bad comments were posted here for this extremely amazing tyres.Since I have them I am impressed by the grip they provide, and I am a sporty type of driver,so they never let me down even on the sharp corners with a high speed they stand as glued on the road. Many people, posting comments here want the tyres to be quiet and long lasted but they don't realize that these are sport kind of tyres and they require much time for warming and yes they are noisy on high speeds and wears quick but they have one major advantage - GRIP!!! If you want a tyre with stiff walls and soft rubber look elsewhere!

Given 54% while driving a Jaguar XFR (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 14,000 average miles
I cannot believe how much they charge for this OE tire. With so many better and less expensive tires available, why would anyone buy these. Replaced with Vredenstein Ultrac Sessantas (see review).
