Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 Reviews - Page 23

Given 74% while driving a Subaru MY05 WRX (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 20,000 spirited miles
I bought these tyres having read rave reviews on various sites. Dry grip is superb but wet grip is now very poor. To begin with, they didn't disappoint but now with about 4 mm of tread at the front, they are now frankly dangerous in the wet. The main concern is braking in a straight line in the wet (and on slushy snow). I've had a few near misses due to unexpected failure to stop within what I would consider to be a reasonable distance. Bascially in short, these tyres are great when new and until tread reaches 5 mm; after that be prepared to ditch them. For this reason, I don't think that they represent good value and I don't think that I would buy again.

Given 96% while driving a Skoda Octavia vRS (225/40 R18 W) on mostly motorways for 19,000 average miles
New set just put so I will update further however the previous GY A2 lasted longer than the MIchelin PIlot Sport 3. After 19k miles Goodyear still had 3mm left, PS3 2mm. Impressed at the tyres wear rate and price. Now fitted 4 GY A2 and car is now noticeably quieter.

Given 100% while driving a Nissan 300ZX (265/35 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 750 spirited miles
I have a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo that I bought a year ago and modified to 465bhp (weighs 1530kg). With the Chinese tyres that came with the car it would always fishtail like crazy and spin the wheels (even before I increased power from the stock 300bhp). I simply couldn't floor it in 1st or 2nd at all (without risking putting the car into a power pole). Only had these tyres a month but since putting them on fish tailing and wheel spinning under WOT has disappeared. I can now put all the power to the ground. The change is remarkable. I am so happy, that is what I bought these tyres to do. Cornering grip and wet grip also lived up to expectations (based on the reviews I read here).

Given 94% while driving a Volkswagen New Beetle 2.0 (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 200 spirited miles
Just fixed the tires yesterday and quickly noticed how they grip on the road. Really amazing on the grip level & comfort as well. Never try on wet handling yet but will update soon. The tires was quiet too. So far the best tire I'd ever used other than Yokohama Advan Neova AD08.

Given 96% while driving a Audi A5 (255/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Set of four replaced old conti sport contact 3's. Amazing transformation :- quieter , awesome adhesion, far more precision. Strongly recommend for the A5, makes a great car even greater. Wear looking good so far.

Given 61% while driving a BMW 520d Tourer (245/35 R19) on a combination of roads for 9,000 easy going miles
good comfort on 520D Msport touring 2010 howecer I drive very gently and they lasted less than 9000 miles on the rere, original Dumlops had lasted 21000 on rere front still ok at 29000, tracking fine friving easy to moderate.
Real pirt as I enjoyed the bit of extra comfort but now feel I will have to go back to the original Dunlop SP sport runflats to achieve a reasonable mileage

Given 94% while driving a Jaguar XJR (255/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Great tyre overall, they perform extremely well under a powerful and heavy car (370hp/1800kg). I even did a bit of track driving with these, and they were surprisingly good. They did start losing traction after a few laps, but that was expected, as they are not trackday tyres. Less wear after 6000 miles than I expected based on earlier reviews. I will most definitely buy these again!

Given 89% while driving a Ford Focus ST (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 11,000 average miles
A brilliant tyre that's been made even better by it's recent price drop. Lasted 11,000 on the front of my ST which isn't bad considering they were put on not long after I first bought it meaning they really were hammered for the first few thousand.
Dry grip is brilliant, as is the wet. Although the wet grip did seem to tail off quite quickly as they dropped below 3mm.
Swapped these for the old Assymetric 1's that were on the back and it's unbelievable the improvements that have been made between the two!

Given 100% while driving a Ford Ford F6(Australia only)rwd (245/35 R19 R) on mostly country roads for 3,000 average miles
Had the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx as stock on my car, but travelled 42,000KMs. The tyres are not bad in dry condition but woeful in the wet (sometime dangerous when accelerating). So it was time to change.
Changed all four tyres to F1 Asy 2 (doesn't come cheap approx $1500) and you can straight away see the difference, stick to the road and gives you confidence push it to the limit. The dry grip is excellent but it is the wet grip that is so impressive, you can take roundabouts and corner with confidence without sliding. I would strongly recommended these tyres for high powered vehicle with 280+ Kw. Goodyear Asymmetric 2 is par with the continental sc5, but I personally think they are better both in dollars and grip.

Given 92% while driving a Audi TT (255/35 R19 W) on mostly town for 2,000 average miles
Checked the reviews on this site and decided to purchase Goodyear F1 Asy2, for the front. Had Pirelli P Zero's which got me 33,000 miles.
First thing I noticed was how quite they were compared to the P Zero's. Feed back and grip is excellent, Not sure about wear as only done about 2000 miles I will definitely change the back tyres for the Goodyear F1`s
