Drawn from 13 tests. Updated October 27, 2026.
Across 13 independent all-season tests, the Nokian Seasonproof 2 most consistently comes through as a wet-road specialist: it repeatedly tops wet handling and/or key wet safety metrics, often alongside standout aquaplaning. It was 1st for wet handling in 2026 Auto Bild (225/45 R17) and 2026 Auto Zeitung (225/45 R17), and took 1st wet braking plus 1st straight/curved aquaplaning in the 2026 ADAC test (185/65 R15). Testers repeatedly echoed this character, calling it a "wet-road specialist" and praising "fastest wet handling lap" and "the best resistance to aquaplaning in the field". Overall results reflect this strong wet performance but not outright dominance across all conditions (average overall position 5.1), with notable highs including multiple wins (e.g. 1st/7 in 2025 Motor; 1st/6 in 2025 Wybór Kierowców; 1st/7 in the 2025 SUV all-season test) and several mid-table finishes in larger, more competitive line-ups (e.g. 7th/15 Auto Bild 2026; 7th/16 ADAC 2026).
The recurring trade-off is winter traction/braking consistency and dry-road dynamism: multiple tests place it in the lower half on snow traction and snow braking (e.g. 13th/17 snow traction and 11th/17 snow braking in 2026 Auto Bild; 12th/14 traction and 11th/14 braking in 2026 Auto Bild Allrad), and dry performance is often only average to below average (including last or near-last dry handling showings in several 18" Golf-based tests: 11th/11 in Tyre Reviews 2026/27, and joint-last on dry handling in 2026 Die Reifentester). There are clear exceptions: in 2026 AMS (195/55 R16) it was a genuine snow standout (1st snow handling, 2nd snow traction), and in the TÜV-commissioned comparison (205/55 R16) it led snow traction and snow braking (both 1st/5). Efficiency is mixed rather than uniform: it can be class-leading for rolling resistance (1st/15 Auto Bild 2026; 1st/10 Auto Zeitung 2026), but also notably poor in the SUV test (13th/14 in Auto Bild Allrad 2026). Wear / abrasion also appears as a recurring concern, with high abrasion results and middling predicted mileage (e.g. 14th/15 abrasion in Auto Bild 2026; 9th/10 abrasion and 7th/10 wear in Auto Zeitung 2026; 14th/16 abrasion and 11th/16 wear in ADAC 2026).

Strong = top two of the field in that measurement. Weak = bottom two.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 shares seventh place and is rated good. It is a wet-road specialist with low rolling resistance, but it cannot match the leaders on snow or on dry roads.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 shares sixth place with the Bridgestone and is rated good. It is the wet-road specialist of the test, but its snow results are among the weakest of the established brands.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 finishes fourth, close enough to the Pirelli that the two are best read as a pair of snow specialists. It is the sharper of the two on dry roads and marginally the quieter, and the two are near enough level in standing water, but it gives away the most of any tyre here in wet grip, which is the category this test weights most heavily. Worth it for a driver who sees real winter and accepts a softer showing in cold rain.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 finished seventh and is highly recommended. It is excellent in the rain and efficient, but its unexpectedly modest snow results, from a brand known for winter tyres, held it back.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 finished fifth, only a small margin short of the podium in a very close top five. It is the best tyre here for resisting aquaplaning and very capable in the wet generally, and its snow results were closer to the leaders than its placings suggest. Its dry performance is what holds it back.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 is ninth and the most contradictory tyre in the test. It was fastest in wet handling, tied third in wet braking and fourth in straight aquaplaning, so its wet compound grip is excellent. Yet it was last in dry handling and snow traction, and the soft construction did not control the Golf well in this size. Steering response was slow, the rear bounced and reacted late in lane changes, and the same front-to-rear phase problem was obvious on the road. Its wet speed is real, but drivers also have to live with how a tyre responds in an emergency. This result may be size and vehicle specific, but the behaviour was too clear to ignore.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 is a wet weather tyre first. It leads the field for wet braking and is close to the front for aquaplaning, but it is the weakest tyre in this test on snow and it does not reward hard driving in the dry. Worth a look where rain is the main concern and snow is occasional.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 is the choice for drivers in consistently wet climates, where its grip is unmatched in this group. A softer dry performance and shorter tread life hold it to a mid-table finish overall.
The Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 2 is the newest product from the Finnish manufacturer and emerges as the test winner with the highest overall score. This mid-segment tyre achieves a perfect score on wet surfaces, delivering the best performance in this category among all competitors. While it slightly trails the premium tyres in snow conditions, it still handles winter driving competently. On dry roads, the Seasonproof 2 performs at a level comparable to top premium products. The tyre also stands out as the quietest in the test, contributing to a comfortable driving experience. Nokian Tyres, traditionally classified in the mid-segment, clearly demonstrates premium-level aspirations with this well-rounded product.
Nokian Seasonproof 2 wins on winter performance with best-in-test Snow Braking and Snow Traction, plus strong Snow Handling (2nd, 99.6%). It remains competitive in wet disciplines, landing 2nd–4th with percent_of_best between 96.5% and 100%, and offers respectable Rolling Resistance (3rd, 90%). Its main compromises are Dry Braking (4th, 96%) and Wet Handling (4th, 96.5%), but its balanced showing and standout snow capability secure a top overall result.
The Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 2 takes first place in this test with the highest point score, demonstrating that mid-segment producers can now compete with premium brands. This Finnish tyre proves particularly impressive on wet surfaces, offering the highest level of safety in wet conditions with excellent handling characteristics. The tyre also excels in snowy conditions, winning the handling competition on snow and delivering very good braking performance. On dry asphalt, it performs very well, though it doesn't quite match the Michelin in outright dry grip. The main weakness is its high rolling resistance, which impacts fuel efficiency. Overall, the Seasonproof 2 provides consistently strong performance across all conditions without surprising the driver in any situation.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 is finally a Nokian all season tyre with excellent wet grip! Sure, it wasn't the best in the dry but it wasn't super far off, it WAS however the best in the wet overall, which is key for this category, it was excellent in the snow, it had the lowest noise, and a pretty good rolling resistance. I marked it a little down for subjective comfort, but it was a close group, and that's about the only negative of this new tyre.
