Questions and Answers for the Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season

2021-11-19 - I am an enthusiastic driver, running a Jaguar I-Pace. live in Belgium, with similarly moderate winters as in the UK. That is why I am leaning to follow your advice and run All Seasons through winter, and summer tyres in summer. This Scorpion Zero All Season is a good match; the new versions developed for the Land Rover Defender even have a nice and low rolling resistance (A) and noise (69dB) ratings, important for an EV. But I have not find any test results of these tyres. I am especially interested in finding some confirmation that these fit in the "European" All season model (nearly as good on snow as proper winters, better in wet & dry); or are they likely more the "USA" All Seasons, with much more limited snow capabilities. What would you expect?

I believe this sits somewhere in-between the UK and US versions. I don't think it will have the performance of a leading (uk) all season tyre in the snow, but I'm sure it would be enough to keep you moving safely where everyone else is stuck or struggling.

Top 3 Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season Reviews

Given 58% while driving a Land Rover All new Discovery (/60 R19) on a combination of roads for 22,000 average miles
Great on dry roads, as normal as any other tyres I have used. But in the wet they are pretty poor, lots of near aquaplaning on the tyres which isn't so great.

Given 50% while driving a Volvo (255/45 R21) on mostly motorways for 26,000 average miles
Had as OEM on Volvo XC60 Recharge- never great, but with 5/32 left and 26k miles hydroplaning was scary. Hate that foam means even minor puncture is difficult to repair - replaced with Michelin Cross Climate 2 which appear nearly as quiet without foam and do not slip as much with aggressive acceleration

Given 85% while driving a Jaguar Fpace S 3.0i (255/50 R20) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Replaced the awful Contisport 5s on my Fpace. No more skipping in cold weather, much better grip in the dry and wet. Not had an opportunity to try in snow or ice, but have been very impressed on muddy greasy back roads. Ride comfort has been much improved

Given 49% while driving a Kia Motors Telluride (245/50 R20) on a combination of roads for 29 average miles
At 29,000 miles these tires were shot! And they have no mileage warranty. They were very prone to going flat by picking up debris like a magnet. I would not recommend this tire. There are far better tire options in this price range.

Given 77% while driving a Volvo XC40 (245/45 R20) on mostly country roads for 11,000 average miles
'try and be' why not try *to* be?
These tires (in a no-noise version) are oe fitment on our Volvo XC40. My baseline is the Michelin PS AS 4 on a Volvo C30.
Overall, they are a welcome suprise wrto ride, handling and noise on both wet and dry roads. Wear after 11k miles implies 30k is possible. But, replacement cost is unacceptably high, so, if we have the car that long the replacements would be Michelin PS AS 4, or perhaps the equivalent Conti.

Given 75% while driving a Jaguar I Pace (255/50 R20) on a combination of roads for 44,000 spirited miles
Used for 70t km on my I-Pace. Not extremely grippy, nor the latest in feedback; but very quiet, comfortable and energy efficient and lasted nearly twice as long as the OEM tyres.

Given 75% while driving a Lincoln 2019 Continental 3.0 AWD (255/45 R19) on mostly motorways for 2,500 average miles
Have put them on for 4000 kms and now performing well in winter. Enough grip on intermediate snow as all season tire, excellent on dry surfaces, and not bad for aqua planning. They're pretty balanced for different temperatures, at least working well from 20 to -20.

Given 81% while driving a Land Rover Defender (225/60 R20) on a combination of roads for 29,000 easy going miles
These were OEM on my LR Defender 110 Petrol 300PS MY2021 here in Switzerland. I use the car for 900km auto routes, in town, on mountain fire tracks and in the snow up mountains. 47km in, and the fronts are being changed as we head into winter; the temperature is below 5 degrees C, and mountains have snow. These really are all season tyres. Happy with them.

Given 65% while driving a Land Rover Evoque (235/50 R20) on a combination of roads for 29,000 average miles
These Pirelli car tyres are poor compared to their motorcycle tyres. They don’t handle in the wet as well as Goodyear Wranglers. Often feel a little remote with little feedback even on a dry road. Although there is plenty of tread depth left the tyres are cracking in the tread gaps on all 4 wheels which at 3.5 years old isn’t good and the reason for the change.

Given 76% while driving a Land Rover Discovery 4 (255/55 R19) on mostly country roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Always had these on my LR Disco 4, sure footed in the snow, only really average 15000-20000 miles a set, probably more down to stye of driving, poor roads and taking roundabouts too fast (edges wear rapidly, but rotate front to back after 8-10k)
