BMW M235i Tyre Review Highlights
Writing about the Bridgestone Turanza 6 given 75% (245-45-18)
My first impressions after 100 miles.

Comfort - 10/10.. probably the quietest and comfy tyres money can get

Road feedback - 5/10 - good at low speeds, a bit all over the place at high speeds

Handling - 5/10 - good feedback at low speeds.
Understeering and quite unstable at high speeds. Tramlining also an issue.

Longevity - can’t comment yet but they should be able to last 30k miles.

Fuel consumption - user reporting better fuel consumption - didn’t notice any improvements

Driving on a combination of roads for 11000 spirited miles
I bought my 2014 BMW M235i (RWD), and straight away put a full set of PS5s on. 225 in the front 245 in the rear. Brand new in the sun these tyres were fantastic, from someone whos not really experienced premium tyres - the last were a set of goodyear vector4seasons gen 3. And when driving on the UK country lanes, once the tyres were warm it made the car feel like an AWD, sticking round every corner, not even breaking traction when pushing it round roundabouts. In the wet and not too cold, the tyres were also very impressive. The downsides are when the temperature gets cold. I noticed for me, living in the north of the UK, anything below 12 degrees C the performance would deteriorate significantly, and anything below 7 degrees C i felt like i as using budgets. This is obviously expected for a high performance summer tyre, but just be mindful if you're running one set year round, especially if you're in the UK. As i know like many people in the UK, the winters are too mild for a dedicated winter set, but just abit too harsh for dedicated summer tyres - and most all seasons are a jack of all trades but a master of none. The worst really for me was the wear. Using year round, ive got about 14 month out of the rears which is about 11,000 miles, now down to 2.5mm. The fronts are still on about 5-5.5mm. I have been looking at a nicer set of wheels, so currently stuck between buying the new set then putting a set of PS5s on those, and some winters on the orignal wheels, or going for the new Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport.

Well nothing wrong with these tyres, i have used them on my e61 with 245/40/19, so I got them to put on the back on my m235i because my pilot super sport have lived a hard life, but this tires are great

Unfortunately these were fitted by ATS based on the "midrange tyre policy" dictated by my company on a BMW M235i Gran Coupe xDrive. Believe me when I say they should not be used on a car with 300BHP and 4WD. They dramatically changed the handling of the car, making it unpredicatble and dangerous. A pair were fitted to the front axle initially and other than the increased road noise compared to the previous Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres I didn't immediately notice the lack of grip. The M235i Gran Coupe is a priortiy front wheel drive car based on the Mini platform, so if there was any understear it wasn't that noticable. This changed drastically when a pair were fitted to the rear axle. When changing direction quickly country A and B roads or somethimes even changing lane on the motorway, the rear of the car would twitch, almost as if it was about to go in to fishtailing motion. This was very unpredictable and scary. Causing me to loose all confidence in the handling of the car. I was terrified of a scenario where I would have to take avoiding action on a motorway in the wet for example as I felt the consequences could have been catastrophic. I appreciate that this tyre is not recommneded on this car by BMW but be weary that ATS were also comfortable to fit these tyres to high torque EVs. Be warned. Stay away.
I managed to get the tyres replaced by raising a health and safety complaint with HR but have been told the next time tyres are required, they will be as per the 'midrange tyre policy'. I am opting out of the company car scheme for this reason.

These tyres were fantastic for the first 3000-4000 miles, however they very quickly started to deteriorate. The performance started to lack after the initial 3000-4000 and I've recently checked the wear at 7000 miles and they are pretty much done, there is less than 3mm left on the tyre which I was shocked at. Definitely will not be buying these again due to the awful wear for the price of the tyre.

Writing about the Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 given 84% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 7000 spirited miles
Two winters on my M235i: 320 BHP & RWD, so very sensitive to grip and handling in wet and snow. Multiple trips down to the Alps for winter skiing. Previous car was a 330d with Pirelli Sottozero Winter Serie-II for comparison. I've also had Vredestein, Dunlop and Michelin Alpins on previous cars.

Really an outstanding winter tyre for performance car if you're certain to find yourself on snow. If you weren't certain of an Alpine ski trip or likely snow then consider the Serie-II, which handles slightly better in the dry. But the S3 is better than the Serie-II in heavy rain and standing water (the penalty is the 'chunkiness' makes it a bit noisier). The S3s did snowy hill starts and slow, windy uphill roads without recourse to chains so really pleased with them. Very good resistance to aquaplaning back in the UK winter rain and didn't let me down even during lapses of concentration in the cold and wet.

Definitely would buy these again when the time comes.

Having had M Sport BMWs with runflats before, I ordered this M235i with the non-runflat option hoping they would give less of a 'thumpy' ride. The car arrived on Michelin Pilot Super Sports and they are definitely an improvement but the basic low-profile harshness & noise are still there. I have completed 16,000 miles so far and am down to 4.5 mm rear / 5mm front so expect to change at around 20,000 miles. The grip in wet and dry is very good so I will probably stay with Michelin but the lack of a spare wheel is concerning me as major tyre damage cannot be fixed with the can of sealant and most tyre depots do not carry specialist sizes so I may go back to runflats despite the extra harshness.

Driving on a combination of roads for 22000 spirited miles
These are the tires that came on my 2015 M235i. The rear tires wore out and had to be replaced at 18,000 miles. The front will need replacing by 25,000 miles. This seems much shorter than the tire rating, and I was not doing burnouts or drag racing. This car is my wife's daily driver. My main complaint about the tire is road noise, harsh ride, and poor feedback. These are the run flats, and they are very noisy and tend wail at highest speed and transmit every road imperfection into the car as noise. You might expect this is the price to pay to transmit road feel to the driver, but these tires do not do that well either. I've replaced the tears with P Zeros and the noise has improved. We will see about the ride quality, feed back and handling when we replace the front tires with P Zeros in the next 3000 miles.
