Fitment comes from each tyre's manufactured size list, and the sizes are the ones drivers reported when they reviewed. Check the size, load index and speed rating on your own doorplate before buying - a size a previous owner ran is not always the size your car left the factory on.

Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport 235-35-19 Volkswagen mk7 Golf GTD 1,000 miles September 9, 2026

The Crossclimate 3 sport is an excellent tyre.
It actually improved the handling and comfort of my golf GTD compared to the Pirelli’s originally fitted.
Excellent grip in the wet when cornering and braking

Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO 225-45-17- Volkswagen mk7 Golf GTD 1,500 miles December 21, 2020
A very good tyre from Bridgestone. Smashes the current Michelin cross climate in all but dry braking. One of the best straight aquaplaning tyres by far. At speed on the motorway in deep standing water there fantastic. A very predictable tyre with a very rounded package. You can almost feel the road. Very good. Maybe on the verge of unbeatable. Lets see how they perform when worn. Turn in not as good as Michelin Pilot sport 4 but better than Michelin Cross climate gen 2. Very expensive, but a must for people who just want to go at speed and get done. As a car mechanic and we fit loads of tyres these are good.

Falken Azenis FK510 225-45-18-W Volkswagen mk7 Golf GTD 13,000 miles July 22, 2020
Over all its a good all rounder, handles well in the dry with only slight wheel spin when accelerating hard with t/c on, with it off then wheel spins and grips nicely and very controllable, corners well in dry and wet. Only negative was that they don't last long, being a very soft tyre, managed to get 13k miles on my golf gtd.

Continental Sport Contact 5 225-45-17- Volkswagen mk7 Golf GTD 2,000 miles July 2, 2018
Great overhoul preformance, but it had a little strange filling in wet cornering under pressure although there was a good ammount of grip. Very disapointed about wear.

Bridgestone Potenza S001 225-40-18-W Volkswagen mk7 Golf GTD 12,000 miles March 25, 2018
Because the state of the roads in this country these Bridgestone s001 are useless.. brand new car 2016 and the tyres are delaminating , with plenty of tread left,, I've not taken this car up to 100 MPH. SO ITS NOT THE SPEED THAT DONE THESE TYRES IN. The front don't grip the road if pulling away to quick.. These tyres DONT suit the golf front wheel drive,, and very bumpy on the road ..Noise level not to bad being low profiles..

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 225-40-18-V Volkswagen mk7 Golf GTD November 8, 2017
Having bought a VW Golf GTD I was a bit taken aback by the hard ride - I knew it had sport suspension but it was harder than I'd hoped for. On ridding someone else's post I discovered my car was fitted with Bridgestone tyres which have a very hard side wall - a bit like run flats. I decided to go for Goodyears and the difference is astounding, absorbs bumps well and the side walls you can press your finger into. So if you have a sporty car folks I'm not saying for a minute Bridgestone are bad probably a great tyre for throwing your car into corners but if like me you enjoy a comfortable ride in your car buy Good Year all day long - oh and they are far quieter as well something else I noticed today.

Nokian WR A3 225-40-18-V Volkswagen Mk7 Golf GTD Estate 11 miles July 27, 2017
Bought these tyres in late 2011 after two bad winters and fitted them to a Audi A3 Quattro, followed by an A4 Avant then current Golf GTD Estate. After winter of 2015/16 I decided to leave them on all year as I only do c. 5K miles/annum and got fed up with the wheel changes 2 x per year. They have never encountered deep snow here in Central Scotland but have proven quiet, reassuring and economical as a year round tyre. Late April/Early May this year we did a round trip to Murcia in Spain (though Portsmouth - Santander by ferry) and did 2.5K miles in 19-days. Conditions ranged from torrential rain then 2C and snow in Cantabria mountains to 30C in Costa Calida. The tyres took all in their stride and on return to UK trip computer showed 54mpg average. I know these tyres are no longer made in Finland but would hope the Russian versions will be of similar quality. I will probably need to change them after the next winter due to their age, they will certainly not be worn out, as at service last month they were all 6mm+. If I was to select one particular quality it would be their wet road grip in either cold or warm conditions and resistance to aquaplaning. Highly recommended.

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 225-35-19-W Volkswagen mk7 Golf GTD 15,000 miles April 7, 2016
New car had Dunlop SportMaxx GT's on, not impressed particularly in wet, changed after 15k miles to SportMaxx RT on front, much better tyre IMO.
