Performance Analysis

Drawn from 15 tests. Updated October 11, 2025.

Across 15 winter tests, the Bridgestone Blizzak LM001 delivers mid-pack overall performance (avg 7.7/field) with standout traction efficiency and aquaplaning security, but inconsistent dry braking and mixed wet/snow results limit headline positions. It achieves several upper-mid finishes in broad-market ADAC/Auto Bild overviews (e.g., 2/14 in 2014 ADAC, 5/19 and 5/16 in 2015 ADAC) and a strong UHP aquaplaning showing, yet suffers notable deficits in dry braking and rolling resistance in certain sizes.

Key strengths are low rolling resistance in some SUV-fitment tests and strong straight-line aquaplaning, alongside generally competitive pricing in context. Weaknesses center on dry braking (occasionally last place) and variable wet/snow braking versus class leaders, leading to few test wins and mostly mid-table results.

Launched in 2014, the Bridgestone Blizzak LM001 is showing its age. Winning the aquaplaning tests was the only respite from a general last place finish, but it's important to remember it only finished 4% overall from the best tyre on test, highlighting how close things are at the top.

Auto Express 205/55 R16

The Bridgestone Blizzak LM001 finished last year's winter test dead last, so being close to the Michelin and sixth overall will be a welcome result. Excellent aquaplaning results and low cabin noise boosted the overall score, however the tyre struggled in the wet, and particularly dry braking where it finished last. Due an update in 2017.
