Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

A good balance of performance, good results in wet conditions, good traction in the mud
Highest rolling resistance, expensive
2017 Summer SUV Tyre Test
235/50 R18 • 2017
4th/5
Good dry handling time
Tendency to sudden loss of grip on dry and wet surfaces (the tyres react very quickly to the steering inputs but this causes unpredictably), lowest lateral stability on wet surfaces
3rd/9
Very balanced characteristics, short braking distances on wet roads
Relatively high noise levels, relatively high rolling resistance

Given 87% while driving a Land Rover Range Rover L405 SDV8 (275/40 R22) on a combination of roads for 30,000 spirited miles
Nothing to complain about, great tires that fit the car and my style of driving. Would buy again.

Audi (275/45 R20 W) on mostly motorways for 0 easy going miles
20" are a bit noisy, but overall very happy, they where used when I bought the can and I still drove them 40 000km!

Given 99% while driving a Volvo XC90 4.4l 7p 450hp (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
I have never had such quiet tyres in my life (although I prefer performance over noise overall). Much better aquaplaning and wet performance than the same tyre (pre 2013). Dunlop has changed the components as of 2013 and it shows positively. Poor with cross humps on the road. Weak with high dynamic driving - much better if they are progressively brought to the limit and then they have wonderful performance.
After a season of testing I ended up with a tyre pressure of +0.5atm as compared to the regular pressure I initially used on the tires. This has created miracles and the tyre finally was able to show its best performance without the need to apply skillful rallye driving techniques in bends. Highly recommended to the extend i bought another set this year
