Best Tyres for the Alfa Romeo 147 JTD

My car is tuned, have more torque and HP(than stock model) and this tyres fits to my drving style, very good tyres.

Worst winter tyres. I buy set of 4 and replaced Fulda, bcoz I find them at very good price. On deep, heavy snow Petlas is very good, like on dry road. On wet is so bad, no grip, very hard to control and braking is just disaster! After a one season I replace that tyres.

I speak about this Vredestein Ultrac Satin. 215-45-17 Extra Load tyre.

I'm not happy with this tyre. I Bought it last week but i have to regret. The side-wall is very soft.

I'f i go with a normal speed around the corner, there is no stress. No complains. When i have more speed on the same corner, the tyres are very weak. The side of the tire feeds into a bend which makes the car feel swaby. It feels like you have worn shock absorbers, or at least the rear of the car wants to slip away.

Maybe I can exchange the tires for better at the garage

I ordered these tires as a friend recommended them. He even drove on the track and these tires, the Kumho Escta Le Sport (KU39) were great tires for street use and possibly a roundabout circuit.

On wet roads, the Kumho's also have sufficient grip on bends. Only what I find so strange is that the tires have enough grip on a normal wet road. And lose their grip on aquaplaning and give you an unsafe feeling.

This was the 3rd winter on these tyres, and I can only say good thing about them.
The really astonishing thing is, that I can do 4.1 avarage consumption with an Alfa 147 1.9 JTDM, while in teh summer I can't go below 4.6 with Vredestein Sportrac 3 (205/60/R15), so rolling resistance is also remarkable!

As soon as these tyres went on my car I noticed a big change, they went on the rear replacing a pair of PZeros. The rear end of the car felt like it was disconnected from the front, turn into a corner and instead of the rear feeling solid it felt disconnected and very soft. These tyres have very soft sidewalls that are great when it comes to potholes but nothing else. In the wet they wander around too much, they do not inspire confidence. So I put them on the front, which improved matters however they are still not very nice though. The grip seems ok in the dry, but I've lost all feeling with the road, they kill any and all feedback. Go spend a couple more quid and get KU39s. I can't wait for another ~8000miles to pass and get some better tyres.

I bought these as it was cheaper to buy a second-hand set of alloys and new tyres in this size than it was to put all weather or winter tyres on my Alfa running 215/45/17 tyres. Turns out this was a good move, these are great winter tyres and after three winters of mixed use are still at 2/3rds of the original tread depth. Great in the snow and ice but could be better in heavy rain conditions. Definitely I would buy these again.

Big fan of Gislaved winter tyres so went for the Speed 606 as a summer option. Sadly the Speed 606 were not a good buy and were worn out in under 8,000 miles, those were also noisy miles as they are not the quietest tyre on the market.

I bought this 195/60/15H tyres to find something very cheap to wear my Alfa Romeo 147 Jtd's rims with.
My expectations were zero, I just wanted to find something better then the very old and squared tyres that last owner had.
This tyres were a big big surprise. Very quiet, very cheap, very good grip on dry and wet track. The thickness was initially 8mm and after 30000km was still 5mm in the front and 6 in the rear.
Successful!

Comfort and noise are OK but these tyres ruin the sharp steering of my Alfa. Never again.
