Toyo Celsius
215-55-17- Toyota Verso
40,000 miles April 27, 2025
Bought 4 x Toyo Celsius in early 2022 and in April 2025 they have now covered nearly 40,000 miles and are down at 3mm tread depth all round having rotated them twice a year.
They've driven from Lancashire UK to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden & Norway - almost 4,000 miles.
They have recently returned from a trip round France, Italy, Switzerland & Germany - 3,000 miles.
The Made-in-Japan Celsius delivers a smooth, comfortable, quiet ride that helps the miles pass by with ease.
They track a neat line round long corners without the need for minor corrections and it'll drive in a straight line for 100s and 100s of metres with your hands off the steering wheel . . . it's a great tyre to drive long distances with. Minimal effort is required making it a relaxed touring companion.
In winter it's always gotten us home from wherever we've been. And we live in the hills where, come snowfall, 99% of people don't venture out in their cars. The deepest snow the tyre has seen is about 4 to 6 inches and traction and braking were impressive. The aggressive tread design and traction claws obviously help inspire confidence in these conditions.
In the wet, standing water doesn't throw the car off line and motorway driving in heavy rain is surefooted.
Again, dry weather poses no issues for the tyres which have seen +35deg C and the tread blocks have remained stiff enough for you to enjoy fast B-roads in the summer.
It's a well-engineered tyre (each wheel is balanced with just 10 to 15 grams of weights in total). Most other tyres we've owned (Bridgestone/Goodyear) required 30 to 50 grams in wheel weights.
We're due to get some new tyres come October/November but we'll have to get a different brand because when I've looked Toyo Celsius are regularly unavailable in the UK in the tyre size we need. Tyre Leader, Mytyres, Black Circles, Camskill and even a local tyre fitter who specialises in Toyo tyres can't get their hands on them.
I thoroughly recommend the Celsius if you're looking at Toyo as a potential purchase - assuming you can get hold of them!
The tires passed the first winter with heavy snowfall on the streets, frosts down to -25C and ice on black asphalt. I am very pleased with this tire. It is a winter tire for everyday use. Fuel consumption was lower by almost a liter per 100km compared to previous tires of a similar class. The low noise level draws attention. The tire is well thought out so that it has very good results on any surface.
Hi all,
Got a Toyota Verso for 4 years, bought them 2 years ago. Would not recomend, had used Continental 850 for first 2 years, and those were much better than these; better on dry, wet, cornering, handling and road responce felt much better with Conti. I´m going back to Conti, i know they are more expencive, but worth every penny.
Cheers,
Marko
This is by far the best winter I have used. I live in the alps and use every weekend to go from 300m to 1740m ski ressort. I have needed to chain up even with 30cm snow. On the packed snow/ice no issues even from standing start on gradient. Knowing the road I push the corners and straights with the knowledge they do not let me down
Two winters on these W Drive tyres now. No problems in the snows of winter 2017-18 in a pennine area with gradients and with a steep driveway too. Plenty of grip. Car always feels planted and solid in cornering. Very good wet and slushy braking characteristics. Slightly more noisy than summer Bridgestones in the dry. Definitely would buy again.
Only tyre brand that maintains damp grip all the way down to the thread limiter and possibly beyond. Comfort over sporty at my profile.
Comfortable and quite tyres with very soft sidewalls. Average handling and feedback.
I had to put these on a Verso S because the official Dunlop 2030 was not available at the time (!) - it is an unusual size. They have been OK but a bit noisy, no real problems, till the fronts wore down to between 3 and 4 mm and the wet grip evaporated, after 15000 miles. I normally change when the tread is down to 3mm, but I replaced the fronts with Yokohamas after a worrying experience on a wet hill. The reduction in road noise was immediately noticeable, especially on better surfaces. I wouldn't buy them again because there seem to be better alternatives. Of course tyres do vary from lot to lot and according to your usage, so I should emphasise this is a personal opinion and not the result of scientific testing.
As a boy racer the negative reviews here are unacceptable. No tyre is perfect (Premicy come close) as they are all designed to do specific job. These are not designed to be responsive, sharp and back shattering! I don't fit these to my T-Sport. What I do is fit them to my people carrier and they are like new Asics trainers. Plenty of wet grip, comfort, nice to fast and just feels good for the family car... almost as good as Michelin Premicy the benchmark for these tyres and not Eagle F1.

225-45-17- Toyota Verso 2010
1,000 miles September 8, 2012
Just had a pair fitted on front of Toyota verso to replace goodyears (215 x 55 17"). Performance so far good but haven't tried them in the wet though. Main complaint though is road noise. Tyres seem to produce loud resonance at 25 and 50 mph. Haven't tried 75 yet but suspect might also be bad. Really annoying as these are typical cruising speeds on certain roads. Definitely won't buy again. Will spend more on a premium tyre.
