Kumho Crugen H/T51 — rated 89%
while driving a Ram 1500 hemi · Driving on mostly town for 15000 spirited miles
I use these on my Ram 1500 as my summer/fall tire. I drive the vehicle hard and they handle very well in both wet and dry. They are not a great mud tire which is obvious. On the highway, they are quiet, and I get good fuel economy. They are great on the highway in the wet. I never have issues with traction unless I am looking to kick out the rear end. They are great in the wet compared to other tires I have had. I drove them once in the snow/ice and they were alright (I use studded winter tires). I drove for the conditions, and didn't notice feeling unsettled. Overall, I would recommend them and have been happy with Kumho with other vehicles as well. I also have the less powerful 4.7L engine.

Michelin Latitude Cross — rated 80%
while driving a Volvo XC70 D5 · Driving on a combination of roads for 14000 spirited miles
Been using this tyre on two volvo XC70's over the last 10 years and have done probably 80k miles with them (3 sets). They are very sure footed in nearly all situations - the only thing they are not as good as cross climate2's (my XC60) is bump rebound mid bend (on pot holes)- the rear can skip slightly. Really good on gravel wet or dry - mud also good - snow: better than cross climate2 for braking and traction (UK has wet snow and slush) - tho not as good as a proper winter in these conditions.
Ive towed cars out of muddy fields with these tyres - bit more difficult when worn down.
Good stability at motorway speeds - but they dont have the ultimate grip of the new all season tyres - the design came out in 2009!! and hasn't been changed so pretty impressive .
As I use them on small roads with very rough edges and have to avoid tractors and lorries they are confidence inspiring that they won't damage easily.
Highway they are a bit noisy compared to the cross climate 2 and certainly not as fuel efficient. but for poor road surfaces and some light off roading they are really good with strong sidewalls. cannot get my size now so will have to either change wheels or goto another tyre type.

while driving a Toyota Hilux 2.8 · Driving on mostly country roads for 15000 spirited miles
Used commercially for towing and off road work, they grip very well on road, relatively well off road (but they're not bfg at equivalent).. they do seem a little soft, they wear quickly and seem to puncture easily. More of a road tyre that can go off road well than an off road tyre. I do like the tyre, a good compromise

General Grabber H/T — rated 90%
while driving a Ford F 150 · Driving on mostly motorways for 10 average miles
UPDATE (though not 'mid life, more like 'early life'): August 2025 - vehicle is F150 with the 3.5L tyre size 275 60 R20: now have 17,000 km on this set of General H/T's, including 11,000 km road trip (Toronto to Edmonton to Banff to Radium to Jasper & return) pulling GVWR 6794# travel trailer (caravan). Note: in tow mode tyre pressures front 40 psi, rear 44 psi. For regular day to day 36psi. Highly recommend the H/T. Grip: outstanding wet (both towing and non). Toughness: Potholes, broken and uneven pavement ( plenty of throughout Canada west): handled all with ease. One down side, on gravel roads the tread will eventually shed most of the gravel the tyres pick up, however the tread will retain some gravel for quite a while. No surprise: rear tyres on the F150 have more wear: attributable to the F150 trailer sway control feature (applies slight braking independently to each rear wheel as required: prairie winds are noteworthy). Conclusion - H/T's so far - given price savings: likely slightly better than Michelin (compared to Defender's on a Outback), certainly from a ride perspective. And quieter, with better ride than Hankook Dynapro's (oem on F150). sd.

Michelin Latitude Cross — rated 81%
while driving a Mitsubishi Pajero · Driving on a combination of roads for 30 spirited miles
I wear this tyre for the last 20 years on my gen3 3.5V6 and gen4 3.8V6 Mitsubishi Pajeros with only two 6-12 month intervals during which I tried the Maxxis M/T, thinking they were more appropriate for my off road adventures. Said that I never had any issues before going off road and without having anything more to expect from a tyre going on road. Long story short I had the worst experience ever when driving on the wet without any significant off road gain plus a silly accident which costed me a huge by all means car damage and some serious rib fractures. I wouldn’t take in consideration the comparison between the Latitude Cross and the MT Maxxis as they come from a completely different perspective. But I haven’t tried any other tyres so far. Anyway driving about 40-60.000 km/year between long distances on the highway, long distances off road and towing my RIB through any possible path for 20 years is because I still can’t find any concrete downside for my tyres to take the risk of trying any other tyre.

General Grabber H/T — rated 82%
while driving a Ford F 150 · Driving on mostly motorways for 1000 average miles
General Grabber H/T (side wall includes 'GT' letters) tyre is new to Canada, - replaces the HTS60.
the Gen's H/T - manufactured in Slovakia - were my third choice to replace the F150 OEM Hankook Dynapro Ford tread.
First choice was Michelin LTX, second choice Continental Contact H/T. Interestingly both now (March 2025) not available in Canada.
Apparently Michelin is not shipping USA manufactured tires to Canada - likely due to Trump's new tariffs. Continental may be same issue.
NOTE some Michelin's (sizes unknown) are manufactured in Nova Scotia, Canada, however the tire size for F150's are made in USA
The Gen's installed April 1, 2025 (after waiting one month for my dealer to 'find' any Michelin's), driven 1600 kms so far in cool & some snow / wet conditions.
Too early to be more definitive on 'grip', rate acceptable for now, hence the '8'. Waiting for a good rain storm to determine wet cornering / braking grip.
Will update all ratings after 3 months.
A wee bit noisier, and definitely more road feel than the Hankook's, a good plus. And like almost any quality good tyre, an improvement over the worn Hankook's.
Living in the Northwest, these tires made my life miserable when driving in wet road conditions. Too many times I was fishtailing in fall/winter time frame so much I started to not drive my vehicle in wet conditions. On dry road conditions the tractions were solid and a comfortable ride.

while driving a Mercedes Benz Mercedes GL 500 · Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Quite a nice budget tire. I have to say the dry grip is outstanding. Wet grip is satisfactory. Road feedback is good. Ride comfort is OK for a 21'.
Unfortunately when it comes to snow/ice, the tire has pathetic performance. I've been better off with permium SUMMER tires... The vehicle is barely controllable and in fact scary to drive.

Pirelli Scorpion STR — rated 90%
while driving a Triumph Husqvarna 401 Svartpilen · Driving on a combination of roads for 20 spirited miles
150/60 -17 The Pirelli Rally street are THE best wet weather permorming tires asides from Michelins PR3 I have tried, the open tread pattern lets waterm gravel, oil, etc... Evacuate easily, it is Sillica rich and they last a fairly long time for how offroady and grippy they are, I even tried them on sand and not bad.
Usually a rear lasts 10 to 12000 before you need to replace it, depends on how many highway miles and if you carry a pillion or heavy luggage. They are worth it for a safe commute and some fun on the twisties. Winter or summer, these tires look cool and perform better than expected. I´ve been buying them for years.

Kumho Crugen H/T51 — rated 73%
while driving a Toyota 4runner · Driving on mostly country roads for 30000 spirited miles
I've had the Kumho Crugen HT51 for about 30,000 miles on a 4x4 4Runner. I purchased these because in some other tire tests, they were rated close behind one of the top-scoring Michelin Defender LTX/MS, at a much lower price. They seem to be a clone of that tire.

Overall, these tires have provided good dry, wet, snow, and ice traction, and excellent fuel mileage. My 4x4 4Runner with a lift averages over 20mpg. My one complaint would be that the shoulders seem to wear a faster than the center, and they don't have full-depth cipes. Despite having a 60k mile rating, after 25-30k miles, they're already mostly bald on the shoulders and the tires are already losing some snow and ice traction.

One amazingly shocking and unexpected "pro" has been offroad performance and durability. I haven't had a true off-road or all terrain tire, but I've done some moderately intense offroading in these, which they definitely weren't made for. I was terrified, and really just crossing my fingers I didn't get a blow out on some rough high-clearance, 4WD-required jeep roads, like the Lead King Basin and the American Basin. But these tires somehow just kept trucking. I probably just got lucky, but I'm still impressed.

Would I buy these as an offroad tire? No. But if you're planning on doing 95% on-road highway and forest service road driving, and are looking for great dry, wet, snow, and ice traction, and good efficiency, from a budget tire, I would put these near the top of your list.
