Michelin Latitude tour HP Reviews - Page 2

Given 77% while driving a Volvo XC60 (235/60 R18) on mostly motorways for 45 spirited miles
Overall, for the price of the tire, I expected more.

The car is a Volvo xc60, T6, AWD (300hp)

Dry traction very good
Wet traction, good but not great
Don't feel connected to the road, they feel a bit "floaty"
Soft in corners, but do hold them
No noise at all, but a bit soft
Wouldn't buy again at the prices I see them at

already 1year/10k km with these tyres and i feel happy for my purchase. ok it is an expensive tyre (180euros each) but they worth. i have no experience in wet conditions because in my country it is raining rarely. also i am driving 99% on road (no offroading). even at top speeds of 130-150km/h the tyres give me perfect grip and feedback. hope they will last long time. would buy again

On dry roads especially on slopes very weak grip.On slihtly wet roads grip is disappointing. Theri is no grip at all in winter! Break distance is not well on both dry and wet roads. It takes time to warm up. Not suitable for short range urban use.

Land Rover freelander (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
Just a comment to Freelander 1 drivers after reading a couple of bad reviews here - when replacing the Michelin synchros with tour hps you must change all 4 as the diameter is slightly larger and this causes major problems with the VCU.

Given 37% while driving a Land Rover Freelander TD4 (BMW M47R) (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 0 easy going miles
Replaced two Michelin Synchrone rear tyres on my 2006 Freelander TD4 with Latitude Tour tyres from Michelin. Tyre vendor advised that Michelin say Latitude Tours are a direct replacement for Synchrones. Immediately I drove away I started to notice a vibration and loud rumbling from underneath the car between 2500 - 3000 RPM.
This was very uncomfortable and led me to suspect all sorts of mechanical problems. Having had the transmission and VCU checked out I had the original synchrones re-fitted and the vibration and rumbling stopped immediately. My advise would be to avoid these tyres - they are too expensive, they look rubbish on a 4X4 and will drive you mad. An expensive mistake and I doubt I will get my money back. Hold on to your Synchrones.

Given 89% while driving a Land Rover Discovery 3 (225/55 R19 V) on a combination of roads for 50,000 average miles
Excellent wear - over 50,000 miles and 2mm left - regular attention to tyre pressure and annual alignment checks - adequately quiet and good grip but getting less good now in wet - excellent in the snow 3 trips to the alps - better than the pirelli's it came with - i will buy again

Given 64% while driving a Land Rover freelander (225/55 R17) on mostly country roads for 25,000 average miles
The Latitudes have performed reasonably well on / off road and in deep snow apart from poor wear. I still have two Michelin Synchrones on the front of the vehicle that have done twice the mileage and are only needing to be replaced because my tracking has been a bit out and they have worn on the insides (still loads of tread on the outsides). Conversely, the Latitudes have worn evenly but rapidly (they have also been on the front of the vehicle as I swap them around occasionally. Pretty expensive, but the Synchrones were aswell. Switching to Pirelli Scorpion STRs as I can't get Synchrones any more. Wouldn't choose Latitudes again as they're not good value for money and they look like regular car tyres (naff!). Real shame Michelin stopped making the Synchrone... GREAT all round tyre and looked good too.

Given 26% while driving a Land Rover freelander (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 11,000 easy going miles
Were fitted to a Freelander td4 diesel to replace original Synchrones which had covered 78k yes 78k miles.
The two Latitudes, fitted to the front were checked after 24hrs by the fitters due to extreme noise and pulling heavily to the nearside. The two tyres had to be fitted to the rear as driving was impossible. The road noise continued to be excessive and I was advised to "TURN UP THE VOLUME" on the radio!
They reached their wear limit after 11k miles!! Thank goodness.
Went over to Falken and never lokked back.
Incidentally Michelin to whom they were sent back under customer complaint said that they had been over-inflated and did not want to know....Buyer beware and be-warned

These tires are great if you don't mind replacing them every other year!
Mine lasted only 23,000 miles. Completely worn and with cracks throughout the sidewalls. Less than two years old and driven by a soccer mom in small town with commute of 5 miles to work and average speed of 30mph.
Ridiculous! Total garbage.
But they ride great! very quiet, soft, delicate tires apparently for wealthy drivers who don't mind overpaying for product.

Given 56% while driving a BMW X5 (225/55 R18 W) on mostly town for 30 average miles
Using the tyre in tropical country (Malaysia) on my X5 E73, was driving at about 70-80kmph on wet road, making an easy corner, the car lost grip and skidded and hit a curb and it cost me a rim. Recently was driving on wet on a interstate highway at about 110-120kmph on a perfectly straight road, the car suddenly lost control almost hit to the divider, thank God I managed to steer it back to the left and the car cuts thru 2lanes and gain back control on the emergency lane on the left. Thank God the other cars on the road managed to avoid me. The 4 Michelin are quite new, just replaced 7-8 months ago did about 10k km. Really need a new tyre that can help against aquaplaning.

Given 76% while driving a Honda CRV (225/65 R17 T) on mostly town for 9,375 spirited miles
Although it's too early to comment on the tyre's wear, was using Yokohama Geolanders before the Michelins and the immediate difference felt would be the improvement in steering response. The car felt more "alive" and there's greater confidence for spirited driving. Noise levels also improved although not by much while the Michelins are generally more comfortable. Driving under wet conditions was satisfactory with so far no aquaplaning and twitching (the Yokos were less effective under wet conditions and twitched several times through corners). Generally a recommended all weather tyre from a renowned heritage.
