Nokian WR D4 Reviews - Page 5

Had them on for the first winter. Covered 7500 kms in very wet, mild snow and dry conditions & at very high speeds. Has provided confident feel, good cornering, decent fuel economy and are silent & comfortable. Have lost 2mm on each tyre - wear is uniform(not sure if this is good or bad for a winter tyre). The DSI indicators are quite helpful to know the tread depth.

Very impressive. After a winter season with the WR D4, i can say that they are amazing. I have a sport style driving and they help me get out of limited situation, where if i slide, my car was crashed. A little bit too soft for speed cornering but i think the problem is from the size, because in the winter i use 205/55/16 and i can't compare them with de 245/40/18 that i use in the summer time. The best winter tires!! I will buy them anytime!

These tyres have proved to be an excellent choice for an English winter. Fitted them mid December and have run them to the end of February so far. You can trust the grip both on dry roads and in torrential rain at all speeds. I have not experienced any issues with braking, in any situation they perform predictably and extremely well. Only had one or two days of snow and heavy slush so far this year but they handled it faultlessly without any drama.
They are a very quiet and comfortable tyre, the wear seams to be holding up well and the fuel economy is good too.
I wouldn't choose them to go racing on but in the context of an excellent all round winter tyre they are probably unbeatable at the price. I will definitely buy again.

Note. Don't judge them in the first 200 miles, from experience Nokian tyres always take a few miles to bed-in from new.

Given 76% while driving a Peugeot 208 1.6 vti (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 5,000 average miles
Extremely quiet tyre with comfort and bump absorption on par with a good summer tyre. Fuel consumption is also extremely low for a winter tyre. There has been very little snow this year so I cannot comment on its performance on snow, but on icy and wet conditions it is satisfactory.

Grips good in dry conditions, i have encountered some understeer problems in fresh snow. wear is ok i guess, fronts still have over 8 mm on them, rears have 6-7mm and i have been beating on them hard.No problems driving even in -25C.

I've driven these tires in various conditions and I way really suprised how well they handle. The tires are this years model so they have plenty of meat on it. They handle snow with no problem, but the tire really stound out in wet condtitons since they do have good grip. I have tried hard braking and they are really good, cornering in wet is very confident and precise, the ride is smooth and it works great with cruises. I've managed to get in soem tight situations when somebody pulled out on me and I had to brake hard and avoid and ride into mixture of snow and water (part where is non driven in big crossroads with snow on the road) and handled it with no problem. There is some wheelspin however when hard accelerating but that is not an issue to me since these tires are fitted to a daily. I would reccomend this tire to anyone living in Central Europe since we encounter various conditions and this tire is made to tackle them I can not comment on the wear since they are new. In snow you have well balanced ride and you know when you will loose grip so you can prepare your driving or recover pretty easily. Great tire if you're thinking to fit your daily car, since I have pretty tall sidewalls I can not comment on some real spirited driving but they do allow you to drive comfortably and confident with no problem but don't get me wrong, in wet and dry they let you corner with a fair amount of speed too. Ride safe!

Given 89% while driving a Opel Astra J Sports Tourer (205/60 R16 H) on a combination of roads for 600 average miles
Cheaper alternative to premium brands that actually work very well. We had lots of snow here (15 cm or 6 inches) and temperatures up to -11 celsius and tyres did quite good job. Breaking on snow is very good. Cornering with great confidence. Extremely quiet and comfortable tyre. Only downside is little spin almost everytime when starting from standing, even on gently/moderate acceleration. Cannot comment on wear, since i did only 1.000 km.

I put these on my 325i and i must i am losing stability on snow/wet conditions even though they are graded A on wet grip. Noise/comfort is great but it lacks in wet/snow grip.

fitted these tires to my moms friend on a 2.0 dci qashqai 150hp , the woman cant drive at all and i decided that if the WR D3's on my suzuki perform so good .. these WR D4's had to be better , and i was right , they grip better in snow and slush , the dry grip is very good if the temp is under 8-9 degrees Celsius , steering response is better then the WR D3's .. i drove 100mile with these tires in different conditions and didnt found any week points , its a great tire for a family car .. audi a4, honda accord etc. if your not looking to go like crazy these tires will exceed a lot of people expectations

2013-fiesta; just today changed from summer hankook ventus s1 evo 195/50/15.
Very surprised to find out: cars back sliding(lateral-outward; a slight slip actually) in turning a bend on dry road at 50km/h +14C.
Fiesta is best in class for road holding and been driving this car for 2years in the same way!! i was a bit fast to try D4 but not a slightest hint of sliding/slip ever happened with s1 evo's in similar conditions before.
Serious question mark about nokianD4 s LATERAL STABILITY!!!If its like this in dry road what happens on snow??!!I had chosen nokianD4 because of its dry performance: result: a big let down!
Comfort and noise are fine by the way

Given 91% while driving a Fiat 500 (185/55 R15 H) on mostly town for 200 spirited miles
This tire has been good so far. In dry conditions, breaking lags a bit behind a summer tire, where in a heavy breaking scenario the stopping distance has been slightly longer. It leaves a sporty feeling and inspires confidence when cornering, while road noise is minimal and comfort is similar to summer tires (Toyo CF2). The rolling resistance appears to be similar or lower than previous summer tires, which is a big boon for a winter tire.
