Drawn from 12 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.
The Yokohama BluEarth Winter V906 is generally more convincing on dry roads than on winter surfaces. Dry braking was third of ten in Auto Zeitung's 2025 Performance Winter test and sixth of 16 in ADAC's 2026 225/50 R17 test, with repeated tester praise for stopping distances. Overall results are less persuasive: eighth of ten in that Auto Zeitung test and joint ninth of 16, rated satisfactory, by ADAC in 2026. ADAC's fourth of 17 and recommended verdict in its 2022 SUV test was an unusually strong placing compared with the broader record, although even that verdict noted wet and snow weaknesses.
Snow traction was last of ten with Auto Zeitung in 2025 and 14th of 16 with ADAC in 2026; both also criticised snow handling. Aquaplaning is another recurring limitation, last of ten in Auto Zeitung's test. Wear has often been poor, including last of 16 with ADAC in 2024, though fifth of 16 in 2026 was unusually favourable and contradicts that pattern. Efficiency is inconsistent too, with earlier ADAC praise contrasting with the highest fuel consumption in 2026. ADAC's 2021 praise for snow and ice is unusual against the repeated later winter weaknesses, so neither that result nor the better wear result establishes a consistent strength.

The Yokohama BluEarth Winter V906 finished joint ninth overall. It stops well on dry and wet roads, but average handling, weak winter grip and poor efficiency held it to a satisfactory rating.
The Yokohama BluEarth Winter V906 finishes in eighth place, showing a clear weakness on snow that undermines its otherwise acceptable performance. The tyre's winter credentials are immediately questioned by its poor snow performance - it achieves the worst results for traction and lateral grip with just 3.19 m/s², exhibits restricted driving stability, and delivers an inadequate 13/30 safety score that places it at the back of the field. For anyone prioritizing snow capability, this tyre simply cannot be recommended. In wet conditions, the Yokohama recovers somewhat with predictable, controllable handling and average grip levels scoring 31/45 for safety, though it still trails the leaders. Dry performance is similarly middle-of-the-road with good braking at 43.3 meters, orderly grip, and decent precision earning 22/30 for safety, while comfort rates a respectable 8/10. The tyre's high rolling resistance of 9.3 kg/t, loud operation at 73.3 dB(A), and poor wear characteristics with only 31,000 km projected mileage further damage its case. The Yokohama might work for drivers in mild climates who rarely encounter snow and simply need to satisfy legal winter tyre requirements, but it fails to deliver the winter performance most buyers expect.
The Yokohama BluEarth-Winter V906 achieves a satisfactory rating for driving safety, with good performance on dry and wet roads but falling short on wintery surfaces. It offers precise steering and good braking on dry roads, while on wet surfaces it provides good grip and handling, but only average aquaplaning resistance. However, its performance on snow and ice is less impressive, with limited handling precision and a tendency to understeer or oversteer early. Its environmental performance is also only satisfactory, due to average lifespan, wear, and efficiency, as well as manufacturing residues on new tyres.
The YOKOHAMA BluEarth*WINTER V906 tyre has notable weaknesses on dry roads, including imprecise steering feedback and a tendency to oversteer during sudden maneuvers. Its braking distance, however, is rated as good. On wet roads, the tyre performs well in braking and handling but falls short in aquaplaning with a below-average rating. Its performance on winter roads is satisfactory; it does well in snow braking but struggles with traction, ice braking, and snow handling. Handling is imprecise, and the tyre tends to understeer or oversteer early, offering limited reserves. Environmentally, the tyre receives a good grade, but its predicted mileage and wear are only satisfactory.
The YOKOHAMA BluEarth*Winter V906 is precise in the dry and also has low fuel consumption. In the wet and on snow-covered roads, it performs slightly below average in relation to the test field, which is why it is rated as just satisfactory. Overall, the YOKOHAMA received the rating "recommended".
