255/45 R19 Tyres

Been driving Vredestein Quatrac Pro XL 255/45/R19 on Audi A6 Allroad 3.0TDI C7 since 05/2024. Rear tyres are good, low wear, but front tyres are completely worn. During car tech exam just few days ago, I was told I should replace front tyres as the inner section of both left and right tyres were completely worn and slick. Wearing of the inner section of the tyre might be related to the Audi quattro drivetrain (famous for it), but the fact is that this car is very heavy on the front.

On dry roads, tyres are fine, I don't notice anything. This winter (2026), I had to drive up the hill on the motorway for few miles and it drove without any problems, was driving around 80-90km/h. Also, when the car got berried in snow (as it was parked next to the main road) in the moutainous region, after showelling a bit, I was able to get out with full grip. So, snow condition - awesome. However, wet condition is what really worries me and it's caused by the wear. I noticed that car tends to slip while starting if the wheel is turned. Also, last year during mild Winter on the wet road in the city, I almost had a crash as when I hit breaks, car just started sliding for 30-40 meters. Absolutely no idea how or why as this happened in the city center. Aquaplaning is good with these tyres, they really bite into the water.

Also, tyres are loud while driving, even though I have acoustic windshield and side glasses. I used to have Michelin CrossClimate and CrossClimate+ on the older car and they were really quiet.

I'm not going to order Vredestein tyres again for this car. There are better tyres on the market. They might be good for someone who goes to snow/icy areas a lot, but I just drive on dry and wet roads throughout the year, so they're not so good for me.

After 10,000 km, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 Energy is one of the best set-and-forget tires I have tried—it handles grip, high-speed stability, and noise so effortlessly across all weather conditions for daily driving with occasional spirited driving. While it does get slightly noisier as it approaches 10,000 km, tire noise remains very well controlled overall without any harsh cabin drone. Energy efficiency is good for a UHP tire, achieving ~12X Wh/km on a typical 20 km commute of 80% highway and 20% city traffic. The only area where you're left wanting more is ride comfort, as it can feel a bit firm over sharp bumps and rough road seams.

My front tyres cleared a staggering 57000 miles (91000km) on my Tesla model Y RWD (..without rotating!).

The rears done 30k miles and had lots of tread left but I got a nail in one, so changed both. Still Amazing bearing in mind 300bhp goes through them!

Whilst I know a top end sporty tyre would give better grip for the bends when pushing it, These never missed a beat, no aqua plaining, wheel slip or noticeable deterioration over life span. I simply don’t want to risk swapping to a different tyre and then be kicking myself when they are done by 30k miles - so ordered same again!

Tyres came from factory on Tesla Model Y LR AWD. Almost 32000 miles driven in all conditions and still above the wear indicators! Can't fault at all. Good handling in wet and dry, quiet and very long lasting!
