How long do 235/55 R19 tyres last?

Across 36 end of life reviews in this size, a typical set of tyres was worn out after 20,000 miles. Half of all worn-out sets lasted between 13,000 miles and 30,000 miles.

Yokohama Advan V61 235/55 R19 Volvo XC90 2.9 T6 2,000 miles October 27, 2026

Replacing OEM ContiPremiumContact with ADVAN V61 E+ on my VOLVO XC90 in last winter. It was surprising me that they were noisier and slippery than the old tyres, at the very beginning. After about 500 km, they became normal as they should be. Decent dry and wet grip, much quieter than before. The tyre expert advised that is because there is oil protection for such new tyres; it would affect their general performance in the first month of use. Although the handing is not hard, the sidewall is pretty strong to conquer the kerb. You will feel more confident when you pump up 37+ PSI on the highway.

Hankook Winter i cept evo 3 X 235/55 R19 Audi Q5 8,000 miles October 22, 2026

The overall proposition is to offer a good tyre at a price discount to market leaders Michelin or Continental. That also comes with a discount in road abilities. It represents a different optimum than premium offers: less for less in proportion.
I live on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. I drive every week in the winter to a ski resort in the Alps. Roads are mostly cold, dry or wet. Approx. 10-12 days of snow on roads, add 10 days for snowy/icy access to the chalet.
The tyre is very good in snow traction and breaking. However road feel is numb when cornering and the tyre starts to slide relatively quickly.
In comparison to previous Michelin Lattitude Alpin 2 and Continental WinterContact 850P SUV, it is noticeably worse in cornering. I have less confidence in the tyre and deliberately slow down to corner.
It feels better than the Conti on traction and breaking, at par with the Michelin.
On cold dry roads, the tyre feels good. Traction and breaking feel satisfactory and road handling is good up to speed limits. It loses traction when cornered hard and understeers. When the weather warms up, the tyre feels less confident and seems more floaty, less precise.
Comfort is OK in W speed rating, always on the firm sides on pot holes or speed bumps.
Road noise feels OK/average at all speeds. Not quiet though. But not the failure identified in many tests.
Overall less convinced on wet roads. Traction seems to breaks faster, breaking feels less grippy/planted and seems to lead to some wavering. Road handling is moderately reassuring. Quite numb overall but feels prone to understeer early.
Straight aquaplanning isnt a problem: the car ploughs through higher water without taking off or wavering.
If you can afford a premium tyre, skip the Hankook. Else you can consider it as a safe alternative, if not spirited/inspiring.

Yokohama AVID GT 235/55 R19 18,000 miles October 19, 2026

Theses Yokohama AVID GT installed on the RAV4 PHEV 2024 has the front tires wearing at 6/32 at around 29,000 km the rear are 7/32 but the tires on forums have complained about the wet traction is bad I can attest to that because I almost spun out at a rainy day in BC Canada hydroplaning compared to my experiences with tires I would say Michelins are way better Also to add for my size 235/55R19 the tread wear rating is 280. I’m surprised that the wearing out so quickly and having trouble

Continental PremiumContact 7 235/55 R19 Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge PHEV 18,600 miles October 14, 2026

Might be because of the car (heavy), but the wear and handling was not superior. Managed to destroy one in early lifetime with a sharp edge, and now I finally had a tire blowout while just cruising on a normal road. Never happened to me before over 35 years driving

Nokian Snowproof 2 SUV 235/55 R19 Volvo XC60 D5 AWD Auto 20,000 miles September 25, 2026

The tyres got really bad while aging. I don't know if I had tyres from a bad lot, but they were extremely noisy.
When they had about 5 mm tread left, the snow grip got really bad and I decided to replace them with Continental TS870P.
I would not recommend them for heavy cars like my Volvo XC60 D5 AWD.
They were very good on wet and dry roads when new and also when aged. But the winter (snow, ice) performance was not making me feel safe, therefore I replaced them immediately as the snow handling got bad.

Michelin Primacy HP 235/55 R19 Honda CRV 30,000 miles September 24, 2026

The tires are cupped after only 30000 miles. The tires came standard on my 2023 Honda crv hybrid sport touring. The vehicle was purchased new in 2023. Very dissatisfied with Michelin primacy. An expensive tire that is crap. The tires were rotated every 5000 miles with the oil change.
