Audi A8 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Accelera Iota ST68 given 56% (265-40-20-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 average miles
Bought an Audi A8 with these on, tyres were brand new and totally ruined the car, hard ride, felt everything though suspension, howled at 50mph or above but worst of all could not get them to balance despite two attempts, vibration was terrible. Replaced them with Goodyear asymmetric 3 and completely transformed the car.

Having driven on Pirelli PZero AO, I was shocked at their price vs last year. I reviewed the Dynamo tyre on this website, as my mechanic recommended them as a “cheaper alternative and it does what a tyre is designed to do!” I’m always open to a bargain. I bought them and after 6 months and - all I can report is - I’m very satisfied. Nothing feels different on my Irish roads. A bit noisy on NI roads to and from Belfast but quiet once I got back on the M1. Ps I’m a relaxed driver. More maximising my mpg rather than 0-60!

these tires made me change the wheel bearings, they behaved so badly on the road, until I went to the dealer and I was told that the problem is with the tires…. avoid, I would never buy again…

Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 spirited miles
Mounted on a 2019 Audi A8L which is a heavy car. Dry performance and in the rain is outstanding, especially for a winter tire. Snow performance is great in every area except for hard braking. I suspect due to the compromises made by not being a dedicated snow tire. However, lateral stability and inability to execute a drift with ease adds to overall safety of the vehicle. It's also very difficult to break traction when accelerating hard though the A8L is equipped with Quattro. All in all a great tire for those in moderate winter climate conditions with tread life as a concern and/or for those that don't want all of the downsides of a dedicated snow tire.

Driving on a combination of roads for 14000 average miles
The tires are staggered with production dates from 2013 to 2015. They've been on for only winter driving and ran about 20000km. They have aged kind of well considering the grip and response, but it seems as though the remaining 4-5mm of tyre tread is made of pure plastic. It "kind-of" grips, but the noise is utterly unbearable. Will not consider buying another set for the coming winters.

Fitted to front axle of S8 and so far used only in dry warm or damp warm conditions but reasonably impressed. S8's handling dynamics are very stable and safe to start with and have not had to test braking distances yet but overall good experience so far with comfort, noise levels and handling.

Writing about the Uniroyal RainSport 3 given 89% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 30000 spirited miles
My 2nd full set of Rainsport 3s so I’ve done nearly 50k miles on 2 sets. Current set are due a change now after 30k Miles.

These tyres for this car with the right pressure are excellent. I’ve driven through standing water, plenty of snow, and done lots of motorway cruising. I thought my car was good in snow before...these tyres turned it into a snow mobile!

At pace they cope exceptionally well. I have literally nothing bad to say about them other than they’re a bit noisy on certain motorways. For an Audi A8 4wd, these have been the best tyres and great VFM that I’ve had in the last 10 years on my A8s

Drive it a about 10k km, but not charmed at all from this tyre. Yes is good for the price, but considire to buy more expensive tyre for next seasson.

I have to say I'm slightly shocked.

Before buying, I read all of the review so I thought I knew what I was getting into. Thought I'd take the risk so I Put 4 tyres on for practically nothing - less than £400. First 1k miles I was a bit worried - slippy and high wear rate. When they settled down they were incredible, and better than the Pzeros and Bridgestones I used before. I have driven through standing water on the M40, A40 and M25 on a regular basis frankly with ease, except recently, which I put down to tread depth. No snow experience in these as it was a mild winter here

These probably aren't suited to highly spirited in town aggressive driving, but then neither is my car as its a bit of tank. However, for what I wanted them for , which was safe all weather motorway cruising they were perfect. Being 4WD and having excellent wet grip - brilliant combination and it's extremely rare that I test the progressiveness to the limits of the car. On the few occasions I have though, they've been ok, but not what I would expect of eg. a PZero or something similar

So far done 20,000 miles and there's a few mil left - I keep looking at them wondering when I need to change!

Downsides aren't huge:

1. Tyre wall seems on the soft side so if you're taking tight corners at high speed, expect to wallow a little. My car does this anyway because it's long, even in dynamic sports setting when the suspension is lowered, but these tyres exacerbate the problem somewhat

2. Road noise is ever so slightly higher, but as I'm usually listening to music it's not such a problem. In any case...you do get what you pay for

On balance I have to say, for the price ( just checked 21 July 2016 and found them for £96 each), the wear rate, and the all round grip, I don't think you can go too far wrong. Was planning to try Goodyear Eagle F1s next but I am struggling to justify the cost based on my above comments!

Actually bad in all conditions. The grip when hot on dry surfaces was OK. On of the tires just split into two parts during an overtake, it did split at the inner sidewall. These tyres are dangerous! I did never buy them, they was equipped on my car when I bought it.

Driving on mostly motorways for 500 average miles
Bought this tire to my Audi S8 V10 . The grip is perfect in all conditions , but I haven't tested the car on a track yet, so I don't know how they are responding during race driving . The tire smells good and you can really feel the quality when touching it. The rubber feels somewhat sticky.

You should go for 275/35/20 on the A/S8. 265 is an uncommon size and is more expansive than the 275's. It fits perfectly on the original 20x9 rims.
