The ACE / GTU tyre test is always a funny one, as they go to a lot of effort to test the tyres, but then provide no data at all, only the overview scores.

For this reason, we always keep the commentary low, but it's important to have the test results on Tyre Reviews, as the more tests published the better right?

This year, ACE have tested eight 205/60 R16 patterns using a Citroen Berlingo, and have concluded that none of the tyres tested make for a perfect year round solution.

The test winning Continental AllSeasonContact was the best in wet conditions, and good in snow, but had longer dry braking distances than the very best. The second placed Fulda MultiControl was the best in the snow but struggled in the wet and dry, and the Michelin CrossClimate+ might have been best in the dry, but it was too weak in the snow for climates which see a lot of inclement weather.

Fortunately for most of the UK, we don't see a huge amount of snow in the winter, so a more summer bias all season tyre such as the Michelin CrossClimate can make for an excellent summer tyre.
