The Nankang SV2 has repeatedly finished near the bottom of winter tests, with wet grip and snow performance its main weaknesses. Auto Bild Sportscars placed it last of 11 overall in 2019 and 12th of 13 in 2021; the latter test recorded last of 14 in both wet braking and wet handling, with a 38.9% wet stopping deficit. Testers criticised severe wet understeer and limited winter grip. Sport Auto in 2017 recorded last of ten in snow braking and handling and rated it Conditionally recommended. ADAC also placed it last of 16 in its 2017 SUV winter test, criticising wet, snow and ice grip.

Aquaplaning resistance is a recurring positive, praised by Sport Auto in 2017 and Auto Bild Sportscars in 2021. Efficiency can also be competitive: rolling resistance was second of 12 in the 2019 Sportscars test, and ADAC praised low fuel consumption in 2017, although rolling resistance was only tenth of 14 in 2021. The dry braking win in the 2017 Sport Auto test was unusual beside tenth of 12 in 2019 and 11th of 14 in 2021 at Sportscars. Noise is similarly inconsistent, leading the 2019 measurement but criticised by Sport Auto in 2017. Auto Bild rated it Not recommended in its 2012 sports winter test, despite praising stable dry handling and quiet passing noise.
