Best Tyres for the Renault Clio 182

Bought the extra 100tw tyres for hillclimbs and sprints, they had good grip but was a little unpredictable on the limit, a little grippier than the Michelin ps3 tyres I was using before but not any real difference in the times from being a 1b list tyre. It’s a good tyre for the price of them, there are better but then again at twice the price.

Used them on my Clio at Goodwood and once warm I had 100% confidence in them, more so than the 888’s in fact. Had a moment as they take a while to warm so I’d suggest they’d suit an open pit lane better, as took longer to get warm than say Nankang and the 888’s.

Really impressed with the PS3's, IMO the best summer road tyre for the MK2 Clio sports, although apparently now impossible to find in this fitment, hopefully a temporary supply issue.

Would buy again because of the price, but handling isn't very good. I got these for my Clio 182 and the car response became too darty and lacked linearity in the way lateral forces were built-up, making you feel there's not enough lateral support. Precision wasn't really good, as in assessing the required steering angle for some corners. Grip in the dry is good, a little lower than expected in the wet but progressive enough and predictable at the limit. Wear in this light car is good. Comfort is good, impacts feel rounded and rolling noise is low (205/45R16). I got the same tyre for the Megane rs175 (225/40R18) in the A0 spec from Audi, as I had driven an A3 on those tyres in circuit and found it superb in terms of driving pleasure. Balance is playful and with low understeer, but lower understeer in this type of car would be better. Grip when new in wet or dry was good and predictable when approaching the limit. In the Megane this tyre lasted many spirited miles (8k+) but now towards the end of their life they got cracks on the outer edge of the pattern and the grip in the dry is just not enough, especially traction/braking. Comfort is terrible since the beginning, with too high impact forces and too high noise (low frequency noise), especially rolling noise. Roundness is fair and the shake is well controlled, absorbing impacts with enough quality feel.

I used this tyre as a wet option at Silverstone in the 6 hour Birkett Relay on a clio 182 race car. Having ended up running it in both dry and wet conditions during the race, I thought I'd give my opinion. In the dry I found the tyre just lacked grip all round and easily overheated when pushed hard. On the clio the balance was severe understeer, which was a surprise as ut is setup to oversteer. This made it impossible to carry good speed especially through the higher speed corners. Braking was acceptable. In the wet they were much better and the wetter it got, the better they performed, with the balance of the car moving from understeer to very nicely balanced. They gave alot of lateral grip and had good progressive brake away on the limit. Wet braking was fantastic and was the best feature of this tyre in my opinion. It allowed me to really push hard and late in the brakes. I'd recommend this tyre for someone on a budget wanting a good all round road tyre. However, if your looking for a sporty, dry weather performance tyre, especially for track use I'd sgeer clear.

Bought these tyres for my Clio 182 for spirited road use and occasional track use. Once tyres have a little heat in them grip levels increase in the dry. Also the progressiveness of the tyres is good, they give you plenty of warning before letting go. Stiffer sidewalls give great feel on circuit too. They have also stood up to track work and not worn as fast as i thought. I rarely run the car in wet conditions. However they are ok but without heat on the road they can be a little less predictable. They also do not like standing water! Compared to the Michelin PS3 i was running previously, they are not as manageable in wet conditions. Ive done 3000 spirited miles and one trip to the Nurburgring and they have around 4mm left in the centre of the tyre which is very impressive. Id be tempted to buy these gain however i may go for a Federal 595RSR or a Nankang NS2r for comparison.

Tyres are actualy good. First i ordered Contis TS860, but they were not in stock, so i gave Vredestein a try. My car is a bit sporty, so a good winter tyre is very crucial. I made about 3000 miles with them so here are my + and - for this tyre.
+ very good grip in snow (it handles perfectly, driving in about 10-15cm of snow is easy peasy for those)
+ very cheap to buy (i bought them for abot 70euros a piece- which is a real bargain (ContisTS860 were about 25euros more per piece)
+ wet handling is average, not the best, but it doesent leaves you between cornering with high speed on wet road... i didnt expect that the "tree" profile gives such a good grip.

- for me the biggest suprise was how loud this tyre is... i have a loud exhaust system, but contact with different types of roads (even after not so many miles driven) let you know that this tyre is not the silent one. even on the motorway tyre gives you those sounds and vibrations.
- let me say, comfort could be better, it clearly "eats" all bumps on the road but the filling when driven is quite average... yes i know i have very low car, and yes i know i have sporty springs but still...i expected more.
- and finally dry grip... for easy drive tyre gives you confidence in corners...but sometimes you have to corner hard, and there are clearly some huge problems with those on. They are too soft on the edges, so that doesent allow you sporty driving...
So, if i could say only few words about this tyre... CHEAP, WINTER PRO, THE BEST VALUE/PRICE IN THE SEGMENT..
I would deffinetly look after Vredestein tyres in the future :)

The dry grip from these tyres is astounding. It doesn't matter how hard I try I cannot break traction (on the road) I'm extremely impressed by them. Mine are pumped up to 38psi though as they didn't perform quality as well at 33. So just be sure to keep the pressure high in them and you'll be laughing past c63 amgs in the corners.

Wet grip is a very different kettle of fish. You need to slow right down as they're just outright dangerous. Aquaplanes very easily.

Good ratio price/quality. I bought them as I knew they are quite soft, so they didn't last that long, but I'm used to this. Great dry grip, especially when they were new (I had some good starts at street racing, better then with T1R's). Don't have good feeling on the wet (especially when there is a lot of water on the road), but I could easily drive on highway with 130kph on rain.
Definitely will buy again. For me, they are the perfect compromise between semi-slicks and street tyres.

Decent tyres in dry conditions!! In wet roads, especially not well made ones, they are just average. It is clear that they do not deserve the money they cost and the prestige the have achieved!! On the other hand, they tend to last more than other "performance summer tyres" even when driving on horrible greek roads, the inform the driver very well and they remain progressive!! All in all, I would not recommend them for fast and performance cars!!
