205/45 R16 Tyre Review Highlights
Writing about the Nankang NS2R

Initial impression was in the greasy cold (~0°C) and not overly bad, definitely daily driveable if you're sensible.
Track use was moderate but good, be it dry, damp or gravel (you can get out of a trap or drive a flat road without washing away easily).
Wet grip is fine, as in pure chinesium dry handling fine. You'll get there, you can slide it if you want, it'll be slow.
Feels very progressive, but definitely needs some slip to be quick. Feels somewhat understeery and loaded feedback is great, very suitable for mountain roads and bumpy tracks.
Slides are very enjoyable, transitioning between grip and sliding smoothly, confidence inspiring.
Noise is absurdly loud and vibrations are harsh, I had people wonder if a bearing blew out but that's to be expected. Once did 900 km of highway and by hour 5 when I stopped, the combination of the loud tyres and very loud wind noise in the car literally deafened me for a good 15 minutes (~60% wind noise).
Rolling resistance is high, averaging a good 1-1.5 extra L/100 km fuel consumption on both regular gas and E85 as well as a noticeably reduced top speed.
Front set is barely used, while rear had to be replaced at ~12K km despite not seeing much abuse, so be careful about weight and balance for maintenance (power is not the issue on this car).
Grip levels didn't noticeably change thoughout, except once where they felt noticeably slower but I suspect a bad previous heat cycle when I lent it, as it came back to normal after 2-3 proper cycles. Haven't used it in full wet conditions past half-life though.
Available in a good range of sizes, definitely recommend it as a cheap fun tyre, or if a high speed index is needed for inspection on older cars.

Have had these tyres since 2019
And they do not disappoint. For the price ibwas skeptical but for a tyre in this price bracket they punch way above. The car was daily driven for three years.. A mix of spirited driving and in traffic. And i am totally blowm away by its versatility. In performance driving they do not fall off with grip when heated up like other chinesium tyres and while the side walls i find to be tough and give a ridged ride I find that as a "performance" tyre it handles abuse really well. I still have more than 30% tread left on them but will be changing them due to age pretty soon. Overall a surprising bang for buck. Unfortunately where i am they are no longer available. I would purchase in a heartbeat once again

I put the Goodyears on when replacing the OE Yokohamas on my Suzuki Swift Sport. My main concern was whether they would maintain the sporty feel of the car. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Goodyears were on par with the Yokos in the handling dept. The wear on these GYs is fantastic. I still have 2mm to the wear indicators but I'm replacing them due to pothole damage. I'll stick with the Goodyears.
I drive mixed town and motorways, but I'm often at the limit of the tyres in town driving.
Noise levels have remained the same from new.

Was super good on ice and deep snow, never got stuck or had an unexpected behaviour from this tyre.

After being used to old Federal 595RSR track tyres, these are most certainly not in the same ball-park for outright grip as more aggressive track-orientated tyres. I will say, I have been immensely surprised at an initial outing at Cadwell Park, covering around 100 track miles.
The Kumho provides a surprising amount of grip for a regular street tyre; which eventually breaks away predictably. You can feel the taller tread blocks moving around a little, but it adds to the fun enabling the car to move around a bit more than a track tyre would perhaps let you.
The tyres seemed to wear a minimal amount and were not overcome by heat or scorching as I had feared they would; running about 32psi.
Will be interested to see how they continue to wear and perform with a few more trackdays.

The tyres seemed to wear a minimal amount and were not overcome by heat or scorching as I had feared they would; running about 32psi.
Will be interested to see how they continue to wear and perform with a few more trackdays.

I went to these after running four sets of R888R, grip is pretty similar, if not slightly better, but these will last a long time. After a recent track day, really cooking these tires, and they are holding up their shape and not rolling over. More testing will come soon, but I can say these are built for endurance in mind. Good for a track day and not wanting to destroy any slicks.

Tested on 2000 NB MX5 with Teinz coilovers
I have another review closer to the beginning of life for these tires, this is a near end of life update
got the MX5 aligned recently, and although it drove well before (its hard to find a poor handling mx5) the toe out on the front destroyed the tires faster than they otherwise would have worn.
however with the new alignment (F: 0 toe; -1.5 camber; 4.5 caster R: -1.3 camber; -0.50mm toe) both the car and tires feel alot better.
I also have done a track day with them, they felt great for about 1 1/2 laps of a ~1 minute track but become really greasy afterward as they overheat somewhat quick. this said that is not a criticism of the tyre as it is not designed for track work.
Dry grip on the Twisties / Touge is very good and unless you are really pushing it (to the dismay of local law enforcement) these have more than adequate grip for fun spirited driving. However you can get them loose if you try and of course will not have the pace of dedicated semislicks.
wet grip is very good, you can get them loose with some ease if you try, however to do so would not be 'driving to conditions'. for their class in an Australian climate their wet grip is great (probably not PS4S great, but not so bad it's dangerous.)
only thing I'd say is wear is not that great, granted i did have a poor alignment that accelerated wear, but i would eyeball the wear as below average for it's class. not horrible, not great either. the PS71's on my MX5 have lasted 15,000 km of driving on a harsh alignment (toe out on front) 60-70% of that driving was at 7-9 tenths on twisty roads, so abnormally hard compared to most.
I wouldn't recommend this tire to those who drive Touge / Track at pace often in summer or in a climate where you can run summer tires year round (like australia) . go for a semi slick in that case if you can stomach the poor wet performance. or a PS4/PS4s/PS5/PSs5 if it is in your size (PS4/PS5 also overheat on track so keep that in mind) a PS71 is simply not made for a Track/ heavy Touge use case.
if you need wet weather grip and take your car for a 6-8 tenths run every now and then but need a good daily tire, these tires will be great value for money.
a PSA:
get an alignment. Don't care if you've had the car for a month and the previous owner said they got one recently, get an alignment as any handling or wear issues cannot be blamed on the tire unless you personally have taken your car to get an alignment yourself. a fresh alignment, especially custom performance specs (do your research!) can have a monumental impact on how the car feels regardless of tire choice.

They are tires for everyday normal use in everyday cars and not for fast or improved ones. And for the roads here, no tire is good...they are miserable.

Bought a set of these for my EV Mini. Grip and handling are indeed excellent for tyres that manage to last over 10k miles. They do ride harder than stock tires and are noisier. What upset me is that I have lost 20% of my range. They are worse than Yokohama A052s and almost as bad as Falken RT660s. Both of those being 200TW road legal track tyres... Yet for some reason, Conti says that they are ideal for EVs! Conti said tough luck when I complained.

Car this tyre was fitted on was a 2000 NB MX5 with Teinz coil overs and white line sway bars set to their stiffest setting.
This tire is great, except it's one glaring flaw: once grip is lost it takes longer to regain traction than most if not all tires in its class (dry and wet). i have this on personal experience and accounts from a handful of other people who have a PS71 fitted.
The PS71 is a good Tyre if you get it for a cheap price. I payed $560 Aud for a 205/45/16 set (incl fitting and balancing) with no discount and I have reasonable confidence that no other tyre will come close to the PS71 at this price point or close to it. (the good price does not seem to scale with an increase in size unfortunately)
while you can hustle the PS71 on a twisty road its lower level of grip relative to other options in its class on the market, hesitance to regain grip after it is broken and relatively soft sidewall make it a subpar option to other tyres available in class and certainly to semislicks (where hard street and track driving is concerned). Make no mistake though, these have tires have more than enough grip for driving within the bounds of the law (to get them unstuck you would need to be driving in a manner your local law enforcement would be unimpressed by to say the least)
as for driving feel, it is okay but not great. it feels pretty numb but I am yet to conclude if it is an alignment or tyre issue
If you just want a competent, safe, mostly reliable performance Tyre for daily and spirited driving, this will do it for you. That is until you get into a situation where you loose grip. not to say that it does it to a degree that is dangerous, but when you unintentionally loose traction every moment longer the tyre takes to come back is a moment that could save you, and on this reason alone if you have a Michelin pilot sport, continental MC Tyre, Goodyear eagle f1 available in your size I would strongly suggest paying the premium for those options. If you stay at 8/10ths and below and have ABS I wouldn't as much about the beyond limits grip.
TLDR; If you never flirt with your cars limits, cannot find a better option for your wheel size and/or need just a 'good enough' Tyre to have until you get another set of rims, this tire is a strong contender. however if you hate the idea of a tire that behaves badly past the limits of grip, I would advise looking elsewhere.
