Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Review Summary

Based on 7 user reviews

For the Continental UltraContact UC7, drivers report a mixed experience. High- and mid-scoring reviews praise its quiet ride, predictable dry/wet grip, and overall comfort/longevity, though some note slightly reduced handling precision from softer sidewalls. Conversely, several low-scoring reviews cite floatiness at highway speeds and poor wet stability/aquaplaning. Overall sentiment is moderate, with strengths in comfort and noise but concerns for high-speed stability and wet confidence.

Strengths
  • Low noise
  • Overall comfort
  • Predictable grip/handling
  • Durability/longevity
Areas for Improvement
  • Aquaplaning/poor wet stability
  • Floaty/high-speed instability
  • Reduced handling precision due to soft sidewalls

Given 38% while driving a Subaru Forester (225/55 R17) on mostly motorways for 400 miles
My UC7 Continnental tyres are two weeks old.
Initially they appeared very good for local driving.
During a trip on the M1,, Sydney to Gosford, the vehicle. , Subaru Forester was floating badly and needed constant correction, so much so passengers commented. It was very uncomfortable and the only thing this normally great handling vehicle has haad is these new crap tyres. At 100kph wandering was so bad, we reduced speed to 90.

Given 50% while driving a BMW E38 7 Series (235/50 R18) on a combination of roads for 3,000 easy going miles
As I write this - I have just contacted Continental Malaysia and Continental Singapore for assistance to check my 3 weeks old tyres, I am using UC7 at the moment and the aquaplanning is very bad, light wet conditions at 60km/h to 70km/h. It "floats" around all over and this is not an exaggeration as I doubt it performs this bad. I hope Continental will assist me with this matter.

Given 84% while driving a Honda Odyssey (215/55 R17) on a combination of roads for 55 spirited miles
After 55,000 km the tyres were slightly with bulging surface. Maybe about time to change to new tyres. Overall I am happy with UC7 especially on the comfort level.

Given 70% while driving a Holden Barina (205/55 R16) on mostly country roads for 10,000 average miles
Thought these would be a great improvement over the cheap maxxis tyres previously fitted to our 2017 Barina. They are quiet, however they are harsh on bumps, floaty at speeds above 80kmh and aqua plane almost to the point of dangerous with any hint of moisture on the road. Would only buy again if the shop had nothing else in desperate times…

Given 74% while driving a Toyota Caldina GT 4 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles
Coming from a wide range of tyres and uses I now have a specific requirement. I want a sporty tyre capable of daily use but also a run through the mountains. It has to be hard wearing for my daily commute but grippy enough for my wants in the corners of the back streets. It has to also be safe in the wet form when I take my family to town.
The previous UC6 ticked this box and the new UC7 is even better.
It goes through country roads with ease and city streets like a normal passenger tyre. The sidewalls are stiff which reduces comfort but it is very quiet.
Grip levels are very predictable with understeer very progressive and oversteer able to be predictable. In the wet, it is faultless but I don't push the matter as they're not ultra high performing tyres.

Are they ultra HP tyres, nope.. Are they fantastic all round tyres, yes! If you need longevity on all types of roads and enough grip for a high HP GT car, this will do the trick.
For the record, my wagon is highly modified and runs over 300awkw on 22psi.

Check out how the BEST all seasons tyres perform against premium summer and winter tyres!
Given 84% while driving a Honda Civic 1.8 5 door (215/55 R16) on mostly town for 18 average miles
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the UltraContact 7 tires, and I must say, they've exceeded my expectations in every way. These tires are a fantastic choice for both performance and comfort, making them stand out from the competition.

When it comes to performance, the UltraContact 7 tires deliver outstanding grip and handling on various road surfaces. Whether it's dry or wet conditions, these tires provide confidence and ensure a safe driving experience. They also offer great cornering stability and responsiveness, making driving a pleasure.

In terms of comfort, the UltraContact 7 tires really impressed me. They provide a smooth and quiet ride, even on rough roads. I enjoyed the reduction in road noise and vibrations, making my journeys more enjoyable.

Durability is another strong point of the UltraContact 7 tires. Despite using them for a while, I've noticed minimal tread wear, which speaks to their quality and longevity.

While the UltraContact 7 tires have performed exceptionally well, there are a couple of areas for improvement. The wet traction, although generally good, could be slightly better during heavy rainfall. Additionally, I noticed a slight decrease in fuel efficiency compared to some other options.

Overall, I highly recommend the UltraContact 7 tires for those seeking a reliable and high-performing option with exceptional grip and comfort. They have exceeded my expectations and deserve a solid 8.5/10 rating.

Given 75% while driving a Volkswagen Golf Mk7.5 Alltrack 2.0TDI (225/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
These replaced a set of Goodyear Assurance Comforttred after 1000 kms which were hard as a rock and did not work comfort wise at all. Oxymoron name being called Comforttred. Quiet and handled better than the UC7 but this was due to less sidewall flex.
The UC7 ride better with more sidewall flex but this reduces the handling (almost too much). Though, the tyre steers OK but with bit less communication and are as quiet as the Goodyear's.
The reason i went to the Goodyear & Continental was price. I have used Pirelli Cinturato P7 & Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on a diesel Golf Hatch and both had better handling and bit more grip but too expensive for me atm. Was not impressed with the turn in of the PS4. The UC7 is about the same. Maybe a bit better. The P7 responded like a go-cart.
So i am stuck with the UC7 till they wear out. I will experiment with tyre pressures. Lower for town driving and bit more for country & corners.
