Performance Analysis

The Toyo Proxes T1 Sport often received better dry-handling comments than wet-road or aquaplaning judgements, but the record is inconsistent. Auto Express 2014 put dry handling second yet dry braking eighth, with ninth of ten overall. ADAC praised dry performance in 2013 and 2016, while noting wet weaknesses. Later comparisons were less favourable: it finished last of ten at EVO and last of 11 at Auto Express in 2015. Auto Bild 2020 placed it eighth of ten with a Good verdict, but dry braking and handling were both ninth. Its positive dry-braking wording unusually conflicts with that low measured placing.
There are other unusual reversals. Auto Zeitung 2014 placed it third of 12 with strong wet praise, and Sport Auto liked its wet performance in 2011 and 2012, contrasting with the poorer wet verdicts elsewhere. Aquaplaning was criticised in 2010, 2011 and 2014, yet praised in 2012 and third of ten on the straight in 2020. Rolling resistance changed from high in 2012 and last at Auto Express in 2014 to second of ten in 2020. That 2020 test still found understeer, slow steering and average dry and wet grip. Price received favourable comments, but the varying grip, braking and efficiency results prevent a simple all-round strength claim.
