Wet grip is the BFGoodrich gGrip's recurring weakness, while low wear and sometimes favourable rolling resistance offer a different trade-off. Auto Bild in 2018 placed wet braking and handling 18th of 20, with braking 14% behind the best; its 2019 braking shootout found wet stopping 35th of 45, 25.4% behind. Motor's 2017 comparison also put wet braking eighth of ten and handling seventh. Auto Review in 2012 and Test World in 2014 criticised wet grip and slow or weak handling, with overall finishes of last of nine and 13th of 16 respectively.
Auto Navigator's 2018 results were unusually stronger on wet roads: braking was third of 17 and handling sixth, contrary to the broader record. Wear was more convincing in Auto Bild's 2018 test, with a projected 45,240 km placing third of 20 and cost per distance fourth. Rolling resistance earned praise in 2011, 2012 and 2018, but Test World's high-resistance verdict in 2014 is an unusual reversal; even the praised 2018 result was only tenth of 20 numerically. Noise drew repeated criticism, including 12th of 17 at Auto Navigator in 2018 and 16th of 20 at Auto Bild that year. Motor praised comfort in 2017 but criticised slow steering, so economical service does not imply sharp responses or consistently strong wet performance.
