Top Tire Review 2026 UHP Tyre Test: Big Brands vs Challengers P6 of 7
The Bridgestone Potenza Sport finished sixth despite genuine handling and braking strengths, undone by poor comfort and high rolling resistance. It is a tyre for keen drivers happy to trade refinement and running costs for sharper responses.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport Owner Reviews
Review this tyreWhat owners say summarised from 129 reviews
Owners generally rate the Bridgestone Potenza Sport as a very sporty road tyre, with strong dry and wet grip and sharp, precise steering feel. The main drawback is longevity: around one in three owners complain about fast wear, sometimes markedly so. Road noise is another common issue (raised by around one in four), while a smaller but notable group report a big drop in grip and confidence in cold weather.

On road it's like having a semislick which is capable of handling water showers like an UHP tyre. On track you can feel it's not a semislick, but you can enjoy a stable performance allowing you 100% of fun with 80% lap time or something like that.
On the road wear on external shoulder is high, on track it's really impressive lap after lap.

Exceptional grip on dry and wet surfaces. Very noisy, stiff sidewall, high tyre wear, I have done about 12000 km with them.
They are still exceptional in terms of grip and steering precision.
I will probably buy them again, as I consider them superior to the Continental Sport Contact 7 that I am currently using.

Very fun tyre, makes the car feel alive. Perfect for your weekend/sportscar.
For a daily it might be a bit harsh and to much directness.
As long as you don't track the tire it will hold up better than a touring tire that gets to hot.
Compared to other brands:
+ Thickest wheel protection on the market
+ Most direct steering response
+ Wide/meaty tyre tread surface compared to other brand in the same size
- can be to hard/nervous on bumpy roads compared to a Michelin for example that has the same grip, but feels more planted/softer
- more sensible to UV light, cracks are showing and grip is decreased compared to new (compared to Michelin/Continental)
- felt a bit bloated/unstable on German autobahn above 200kph on hot summer days (compared to Cup2)
Overall I can recommend it as a competitive UUHP Street Tyre for a good price. But the competition doesn't sleep: Goodyear, Continental & Michelin might be the better choice if u want a more mature and calm tire feedback.
If you prefer fun + high and stiff feedback go for it, with plenty of grip.

These tyres are not as comfortable as my set of winter tyres (Dunlop Winter Sport 5), nor my previous set of summer tyres (Michelin Primacy 4). Mainly due to the stiff sidewall I suspect, but the 94 XL load index probably doesn't help either, which makes them a bit harsh. Other than that they are great tyres. Great handling in dry and wet, good steering response, noise is not an issue and a lot of fun to drive. And remarkably wear resistant: after 25000 miles of mostly commuting (easy on the gas and brake pedal but cornering quite hard) the tyres still have in between 2.8 and 3.5mm of tread left.
Rolling resistance is supposedly quite high, higher than my Dunlop tyres. But to be honest I don't notice that much of a difference. In fact, the outside temperature has a larger impact on my fuel economy than switching from summer tyres to winter tyres. Now that the temperatures are dropping (which increases air resistance) I already see an increase in fuel consumption: around 6.0 L/100km in the summer and 6.5 L/100km in the winter.
Would I buy the Bridgestone Potenza Sport again? Probably not. Not because it's not a good tyre - it is. But simply because there are better alternatives available now. Like the new Potenza Sport Evo or the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, to name the most likely contenders in my tyre size.

These were the Enliten R01 updated Audi version
The original Potenza Sport were not suitable for track days as they disintegrated with heat. Bridgestone claimed to have addressed this and increased longevity with Enliten technology. However, I can confirm they have not. The tyres cracked and chunked badly after 4 15 minute sessions with 30 mins cool down in between. (Still) don't use them on track! On the road they are fine.

Incredible dry grip, very sharp steering response especially on center that can make an average steering rack feel sporty. On a FWD car, the front tires are so planted and "manic" that the rear tires will sometimes break loose, which is a fun quality but a little unpredictable. Insane grip in the wet and will communicate with you when it's about to let go, which makes it very confidence inspiring. Even at 2-3/32 tread I am able to do 70-80 mph in pouring rain. Comfort is fine but the tires get loud as they wear out. Lasted 26000 miles on a ~300 hp Honda Accord 2.0T that saw about 100 launches and 5 canyon runs. Could've done 30000 easily if I was more diligent about tire rotations.

Initial Impressions81% 5,000 milesThis is my first experience with a 300 tw summer tire, so my ratings might be a bit high. However, these tires are insanely grippy when they are warm in the wet or dry, and the steering response is almost telepathic. They have to be really warm to perform at their true potential, which means about 20 minutes of normal driving or just 5 minutes on the backroads. I have never even come close to the grip limit in corners, though I am in a mostly Honda Accord 2.0T (tuned so it has ~280 whp and 360 wtq, and a stiff rear sway bar). It actually makes it a little harder to stay completely straight on the road because these tires respond to even the smallest inputs, but I have come to love this characteristic; it makes a mostly normal family car feel like a sports car. After 5000 miles and at least 30 hard launches, several 130+ mph pulls, and some backroad driving, they are surprisingly still at 6/32 on the front and 7.5/32 on the back and I haven't rotated them yet either. If I hadn't accidentally done a 10 second burnout while trying to launch in 40F weather, I'm sure the fronts would still be at 6.5-7/32. I guess these tires would wear much faster on a heavier and more powerful car, but if you have a car with around 200-400 hp and don't do burnouts every day, these tires wear reasonably.

But here come the big BUT, they crack and show wear at such a rapid rate, I know they are a performance tyre and I expect a higher wear rate, but to have to replace after 2 years and less than 5000 miles due to cracking is not what I would expect, simple advice is avoid as I will be doing with all Bridgestone products until I hear of improved longevity!
