Best Tyres for the Honda Accord Tourer

After less than four summers the tires show significant cracking on the sidewalls and treads. I have not driven much in rain since thay came with used car but overall quite ok tire in the dry. I don't have expererience in extreme situations so I cannot comment how the tire will perform on tougher situatuins. Feels ok in city driving and when driving calmly.

I initially really liked these tires, as they performed splendid all around, BUT.. admittedly, I probably drive like a madman, and these tires didn't cope with me, so I had.. (hold on) THREE blow-outs.. my first three ever.. within 5000 miles!

Two of them blew violent, on the side wall of the tire.. both on the nside of the wheel facing inwards.. one front, one rear.. at "good country road speed" 80-90 KM/t / 56 MPH - The last one, sort of just went flat, on the highway, at 110 KMT / 70 MPH, and althought I stopped immediately, there was a hone in the side wall of the tire.. and again, on the inside!

I challenge my tires.. and these had great grip / traction / low noise, but very bad durability ! I dont do handbrake turns, or anything like that, so why should two of them blow up like that.! I was pretty surprised, and sort of hope, that these tires are off the market.. "coz them babies are dangerous".. for mad drivers anyway!

I put 3000km on the tyre. It gives excellent grip in the dry and wet and excellent feedback. To be honest I was not expecting such good performance. Can't comment on the ware as of now but it's definitely a tyre I can rely on. Coming from a Continental Premiumcontact 6 I would say it's an improvement which I didn't believe was possible. Excellent efficiency!

I've had these on for a year now, and I am very pleasantly surprised at the outright grip both wet and dry these offer. The tyres that preceded these were Falken FK510, Hankook VP3 K125 and most recently Nokian Powerproof. I found the Hankooks best for wear, Nokians were good for wet grip but did not last very long and the Falkens may as well have been made from chewing gum for the service life they gave. I know the Honda Accord Type S Tourer is a fairly heavy vehicle and has a decent bit of torque and power but I have a commute that is 80km per day so wear is a factor, the remap adds some more as well. With these HS51 I can say that I am very happy with their performance so far and would definately buy them again. Wet grip/braking and wear are my two main objectives regarding tyres and on these points and more they deliver. They are not the most fuel efficient tyres but they are very durable and that is worth more to me than some theoretical figure of fuel saving in the long run. In summary I would say that I highly recommend these tyres if you have a larger heavier car and don't want the lightweight quiet, fuel efficient tyres that have the sidewall strength of a piece of overcooked pasta, these are old school tyres that are heavy and solid and last while giving great grip and wear.

Bought these on winter tyre sale in 2021 Spring for 42€/pcs. studded, made in 4320 so fresh and it was a bargain price. Fitted this year before snow just to see,feel and hear them while brand new. On +8°C as like every other 'nordic' or soft compound winter tyre they felt wiggly on dry + studs made a lot of noise. Drove for 2 days very carefully not to overload them, then temperature dropped to +4°C with rain, they felt stiffer but as it dosent have any dedicated water channel they quickly start to hydroplane. My last tyre was hard compound(european) winter tyre with dedicated water channel and they performed better in standing water, not saying that these are terrible, as I can still comfortably drive on highway speeds and dont need to slow down. But cars traction control is working harder if i compare this situation. Now it is -8°C and this year there is lots of snow, turning in to packed ice on roads, and i say for the price they are doing very well! - Because brand name tyres where 2x/2.5x more in price. Driving for 2 weeks now in snowy/icy conditions and im comfortable with them. Even in little roads where it is not salted and heavy blizzard one day snow packed up to bumper, i've easy drove off with FWD. Didnt have to take my shovel and dig the car out just to start moving. Oh and the noise also is not that noticeable anymore in 'winter' conditions even when it's dry road. One time drove in unpaved section where it was pure ice for few km with easy bends, didn't even sweat and drove normally and didn't even slide once. Then pushed the tyres to the limit on packed snow to see how they are performing and how much is too much, and i'd say - very well performing tyres in snow/ice situation i'd say almost the same as my last 'brand' tyres- Dunlop winter sport 5 when they also where new but where 70€/pcs and non studded so on pure ice they where more slippery. At this time after driven for month now on them and ~1000km overall im satisfied with my purchase! I dont know if i would buy them for full price(62€/pcs) but for sale price, im really satisfied. As studded tyres of course they are noisier, than my last set, but it is not that bad that i want to switch. (i have driven in cars where studded tyres where noisier) After winter will edit my review with wear and performance and if some studs will be missing.

I use it only summertime on a 1700kg Tourer on: motorways and countryroads in moderate driving style. Motorway between 130-160km/h, average roads w/ 60-90km/h, mostly w/ 1-2 person onboard and some luggages+doggo in the back. The car is one of the best travelling cars IMHO, so the chassis not very sporty, but between responsive and comfortable, i admit weight is an important factor that determines overall experience, but one by one: DRY: it drove well and the tyre has good grip, a bit sporty thanks to the size, i LOVE the rim protector (it's is wide and protects more than average tyres). WET: in wet it rolls OK, but sometime it tends to slip a bit when changing directions suddenly or at braking on countryroads :-( but just a bit, not dangerous, in rain on motorway it was stable. but becomes rigid after a while. Overall: Aging is the enemy of this compound, truly. The thread is still significant considering higher speed driving on motorways, but the rubber got old after 3 years and the comfort is half-gone, but most importantly: it's good that i drove rarely this year, because i noticed that PIECES HAVE TORN OUT of the surface, sometimes 0.2-0.8mm, sometimes, 1,5cm wide pieces and it's more than unsafe, i realized it when braking has become a bit shaking. So even i know that the thread still around 5mm (!!!) and in summer it's still rolls fine, because of this and the weak performance in wet corners and sometimes slippery behavior, i do NOT recommend this to anyone. :-( And on the whole; i will not buy Dunlop again. I am considering Good Year Eagle F1 Ass 5 and Bridgestone Potenza and maybe Conti PC 6XL. I'd rather go for a Michelin the most, but comparing the much higher price (PS4) and the simple travel purposes it would never provide such benefit for this car. But until i do not hear that Dunlop corrects this decline of material/structure, i will avoid its products.

Just purchased my second set of the aptany RA301 235/45/17 97W for a Honda Accord Estate.I have these still fitted on a 2013 mondeo.For the price point these are excellent tyres.Dry grip is fine but its in the wet where these excell...they are incredable.Never once lost grip with these including wet...the way they cut through water even at motorway speeds is remarkable.The construction is good and i feel totally connected to the road at all times. There is one draw back though and thats tyre wear! Im no test pilot and they have covered 20k now with maybe 4/5k until they done.They are summer tyres so compound is soft.A few other things to factor in though...a premium brand tyre may get double the mileage if your lucky but they will cost at least 2-3X.Also after a few thousand miles your likely to have picked up a puncture or few...after 4 years and 25k miles i would want a fresh set of boots no matter what brand i had bought. Fuel rating C and most important for me rated B in the wet means you have a very safe tyre when you need it most.Pretty quiet on the open road as well. To sum up there cant be a better tyre out there than this for the money..£240 fitted with valves and balancing.My honda currently has equivalent ZV7 by avon....not a bad tyre by any means but they are no where close to the aptany in the wet and why im changing. Highly recommend and wont break the bank giving these a try.

Got these tyres cheap(half the price) in start of 2018(on tyre sidewall it sayed 4017 so fresh tyre) first summer season i was amazed of the grip level. I have quite long hard right turn in my daily road, where speed limit is set 70km/h, but even going much faster that than- i could push the car hard and it still wouldnt even sqeek. Second year the same corner tyres performed also good, but on daly basis i could feel that they dont grip as well as they did, also in hard rain and standing water i could def feel the difference as it was much easyer to aquaplane on highway speeds that prev. year. On start of third year and about 5mm thread left, when i placed them on i noticed that there where littlebit chunks biten off side and middle blocks, not too much to get worried, so drove them hard because i knew that probably this was the last season for them. They got decent grip(didnt slide at all in good weather) but in previous mentoned turn they started to sqeek and even car started to wobble and i wasnt that comfortable anymore to drive that turn that hard... No complains in the feedback section, it was good in all years and i didnt notice any bad feedback. When i turned the wheel, car went that way... no matter the speed. Today as my yearly car inspection is coming this week, i looked at them measured about 3.6mm of thread left on all of them but also on all of them bitten chunks got much bigger i wasnt comfortable for highway safety(and that i would pass inspection) so i swapped them. And because of the bitten chunks i got different brand and not the same. Oh and lastly i will add - i unsuccesfully turned on a curbe and damaged one tyre side wall, not too deep and tyre fold wasn't seen. So drove them like that last 5k km with regular checks and no bump or lump on the tyre occured. So structurally it was good construction tyre. Note i swapped on season basis back to front and back. i drive around 17-20k km yearly. For the half price i got them (35€/piece) i consider them a good buy. But for full price score would be lover for this tyre. Overall if you can get them cheap, as i did, i would recommend them. As i have no big complains driving them for 3 summer seasons even when i pushed them hard i was comfortable of my safety.

I used to have Bridgestone Potenzas before and I replaced them with Nankang's. I have had Nankang's before and I wasn't very happy with them. These Sportnex AS+ instead are very good value for money. Very comfortable and quiet tyres (especially compared to Potenzas). The wet grip has also much more better than in other Chinese tyres I used to have. My opinion is that for normal road use these tires are very good choice. Unofotunately I drove only 5000 km's before I sold tyres with car but will defintely consider to buy these again.
