In 2014, the German Automobile Club (ADAC) have tested 17 different summer tyres in 195/65 R15 using the ubiquitous VW Golf.

This year they've placed extra emphasis on tyre life cost, meaning high wear tyres which are relatively expensive tyres to buy finished much lower than before. This has affected Continental and Bridgestone, where as Michelin having the best wear on test, was penalised for its wet performance. Only Goodyear and Dunlop seem to have found a balance ADAC are happy with, and finish the test in the first two positions.
