The 2024 AutoBild Summer Tyre Test reviewed 20 premium touring summer tyres in size 205/55 R16. The test focused on several key performance indicators including dry and wet braking, handling, noise, wear, value, and rolling resistance.
Michelin Primacy 4+ ranked first, demonstrating a balanced performance with short braking distances and high efficiency. Continental PremiumContact 7 and Bridgestone Turanza 6 followed, showing strong wet and dry road performance and low wear levels.

Residual speed is calculated from the measured braking distances, assuming constant deceleration; it is not a separate measurement.
The Falken Ziex ZE310 led the way in dry handling with the Vredestein Ultrac close behind.

How this is calculated
Assumes a typical car using 8 l/100km (with rolling resistance causing 20% of fuel use), fuel at €1.65 per litre and €70 fitting per set of four. Purchase prices are from the time of the 2024 test; financing costs are excluded.
The Dunlop Sport BluResponse got its first win with the lowest rolling resistance, narrowly ahead of its sister brand, Goodyear.

I had the Goodyears (215/50.R17) on my 2017 Focus Tdci for 4 years and 85.000km without rotating them and they are still going strong. Can't rotate them because one of the rears had a puncture.
The originals Michelin Primacy HP had to go after 80K and I had to rotate them at about 60.000km and they were BAD when they had about 40.000km. Rear grip non existent and on wet they were very tail happy.
P.S. I live in SE of Spain were is HOT in the summer(40+ C), we get more than 300 days of sun, mild winters and it rains....almost never.
wow that's strong mileage
Clearly the winner is Vredestein Ultrac..
I hate those manipulations in score.
let down apparently by wear...
The new Ultrac + is here. No reviews for it but it appears to have up to 30% better wear and abrasion resistance plus a new build. I think I'm going to be one of the first buying this in the UK.
Let us know how you like it!
Excellent tyre for a wet climate.
The Vredestein Longevity is abismal sadly.
Using my own scoring 1/2 wet, 1/3 dry, 1/6 value. And with custom subvalues I had :
1- P4+ & EGP2
3- PC7
4- Fulda EC2 (surprising but looks like he deserve it !)
5- Turanza 6
Then it's a mix of second tier tyres, including Hankook who is still behind in longevity. The P7 C2 is among them, bad longevity, hope that the C3 is much better.
