Jaguar S Type 2.7D Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 given 60% (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 average miles
Nice tyre no problems with grip or handling on my Jaguar S type but not long lasting for me on the rear. Worn out rears in under 7000 miles so not happy. Fronts with plenty wear left but I may only see 10,000 from them. Only fitted them at the end of May 2020 and cost me £125.00 a corner.

Run on my Jaguar S type for the last couple of years. Fronts still on from Dec 2017 and 10,000 miles on them and still a little left 4.5mm as for the rears on my second set with the first set lasting only 6000 miles. Second set down to 4mm left after 4000 miles. Will be looking for something else.

Driving on a combination of roads for 12000 spirited miles
Bought a Jaguar S Type with these fitted in the summer. Not amazing in the dry, unless your driving is passive, hot or cold weather. Not had a chance to try them in snow, but driving on ice is like driving an ice skate - absolutely no chance of any control. Driving anything more than careful on wet or greasy roads is risky, it's far too easy to slide and have the back end out. MPGs are awful compared to what others are getting with the same engine. Terrible tyres. I still have over 3mm of tread on all 4 tyres and I'm swapping them now for Vredestein Ultrac Satins which are classed A Wet Grip, B Fuel Efficiency - hopefully be tonnes better to drive from then on. The Petlas SnowMasters are rated C for Wet Grip and E for Fuel Efficiency.

PS: Camskill.com is the cheapest website for tyres - order them and find somewhere to fit them and you will probably find you save shed loads. For example my local garages were offering 245/40/18 Vredestein Ultrac Satins for around £130 a corner fitted. Camskill worked out £95 a tyre after delivery, and fitting 4 tyres is costing my £48 at my local garage. All in all, I'm saving £92.

I had these fitted to the rear of my S-Type Jaguar 2.7d XS when my Perelli's needed replacing. I saw reviews for these tyres and for the price £55 each fully fitted I thought 'what the heck. For the money, worth a punt!' Well I have now completed 1000 miles of mixed driving, including 500 of motorway. When fitted I wasn't too sure whether to give the car its head not knowing how the tyres would behave. Well I gentle worked up the courage over a few days to see where the limit was. I still have not found it. Last week on a German motorway in torrential rain I was driving at 90mph with full confidence with massive rooster tails coming off the rear. They must be shifting vast amounts of water! Therefore, I can truely say in the UK at 70mph these tyres would be very safe to use on my car. So when the fronts need replacing I shall definitely be purchasing another set. As for comfort, have only noticed a slight increase in road noise level but nothing to worry about. Conversations are easy even at 90mph. So far I am very pleased and will report back midlife when I have a few more miles on them.

I couldn't believe these tyres when I had them fitted. The ride was so confortable and no noisier than other makes. HOWEVER, I have found them lethal in the wet when cornering even at low speeds. As soon as I touch the throtlle the back steps out, I have never experienced this before in normal driving.
It's such a shame as they give a lovely ride and so far the wear looks good.

Bought these after a few years of Nexen tyres. The ride is really comfortable, due I suppose to a soft sidewall. I can't comment on the wear yet but so far it's looking ok. I have to disagree with people who say damp/wet handling is good as I have lost the back of the car twice now on these tyres, something that has never happened before. However I am prepared to adapt my driving to compensate for this as the tyres are so comfortable.

Unfortunately these dreadful tyres were fitted on the car when I bought it 2 months ago. The road noise from these tyres is unbelievable, so much so that I booked my car into a garage as I thought the wheel bearing were worn. The mechanic checked over the car and told me the noise was from the tyres and although I still had 6mm of thread on all tyres I should replace them asap. It's quiet scary knowing that a deadly product like this is approved and sold as legal. Cut your losses, get rid. I think you simply get what you pay for so do not skimp when it comes to tyres or brakes.

AUTOGRIP , AUTOSLIP, AUTOCRASH, AUTODIE

Put a pair of these on the rear of an S type Jaguar. They turned a responsive, corner hugging, driving pleasure into an unpredictable series of near death experiences.

If it rains, get the bus.

Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
Best summer tyre yet for my Jaguar S type.
In my opinion as good performance wide as the standard pirelli p zero rosso and more comfortable and quiet. After 5000 miles i have next to no signs of wear. Grip and handling in dry and wet is epic. A brilliant tyre with an even better price. 9.5/10
Perfect for a 200bhp+ RWD car in the summer.

Came fitted as standard on my vehicle from factory. Generally its a good tyre. Grips well in dry and wet conditions. Has a quiet and comfortable ride and wears evenly. Fuel consumption is good when running these tyres especially over long distance.
Its more of a tyre for lwb motorway cruisers and chauffeurs than your hot hatch racer. Its well composed with good road manners and stopping distance is good to excellent.
The only reason I would not buy again is the price. For my style of driving and cruising I find a mid range tyre like kumho does just as well but at a cheaper cost.

Driving on a combination of roads for 17500 average miles
This is a reasonable tyre performance wise but not worth the money.

Fitted as standard to my car from factory this tyre provides a good grip in wet and dry conditions in the summer. The fuel consumption while using these tyres have been average to good and once the tyres have warmed up they are good at braking.
Wear is average to poor. Only lasting about 15,000 miles with rotation.
In my opinion they are no better than a kumho or hankook touring performance tyre. I would not be replacing the tyres with the same because they are expensive and certainly no better than the above mentioned at half the price.
Avoid using these tyres when the temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius.

Epic tyre.
Faultless grip, good at high speeds. Snow and ice traction very good.
It excells at braking on slippery surfaces.
Quiet and refined.
