195/45 R17 Tyres

Fitted on my car and driven for some 3 months, since I previously had WinterContact TS 860 (without S suffix) on my previous car.
Not sure what changed between S and non S version of this tire, but it lost a bit of ability in the snow and gained handling capabilities in the snow and ice.
Braking is still strong, but bellow Michelin Alpine5.

Used up my first set and now on my second set.
Due to the cars relatively uncommon tire sizing, 195/45R17, these are both OEM and best aftermarket fits for the car.
Surprisingly long lasting on a lightweight car, some more pronounced aquaplaning, but all in all a very good sporty road tire.

Very good sporty tire, with decent life span and consistent performance and behavior.

Strengths: Direct steering, brake distance, both hot and cold, handling, responsiveness to inputs. For the tire type, decent level of noise and vibration. Long lasting ~ 25 000km.
Weaknesses: Can be easily overwhelmed on acceleration, on wet roads, some snap loss of grip on bad pavement, tendency to track tarmac irregularities. Sidewall easily damaged on potholes and curbs.

Not the best tyres to start on a Suzuki Swift Sport. (Zc33s)

Continental in this case really disappointed me with these tyres on this car.

I used them mostly on town road, and sometimes on some mountain passes.

The handling was really good in dry conditions and they were a lot comfortable.
In wet conditions the tyres didn't handle very well, in specific on roundabouts and some turns, they tend to understeer on wet conditions.

I also had a turn on track (Modena Circuit) and the tyres are ready to dump.

Now I have Toyos Tr1 and they are much better (on 16 rims)

Totally a NOT buy.
Specially for the non-economic price.

I've had these tyres for 5 months and in that time I have done a fair bit of backroad driving, I wouldn't say they are going to change the tyre world with a cheap performance tyre but I would say paired with coilovers its a very good cheap combo, I recently did a video and I did a bit of b road driving, to say I took some tightish corners at the national speed which shows I have the confidence in these tyres, there was a little bit of understeer but nothing crazy and you could hear struggling at some points but for the price what can you expect. in the wet I don't drive like I normal do, I don't have the faith in the wet, might be personal preference. I have had no problems with wear so cant comment on that, the tyres are comfortable but im on coilovers and very low so doesn't help

Very good tyres in all situation for normal driving.

For a UHP they don´t grip as you wish. In a Spirited driving you will notice that it got low limits and wear really quick.

usual have goodyear or dunlop but was interested in these due to have the sport power mk1s fitted when i got the car wow very good grip wet or dry.. floor the throttle in 1 st and 2 nd very little wheel spin very quiet and smooth straight and true well balanced tyre roundabouts you can play with the throttle very good wear driving on motorways probably one of the quietus tyre ever own £41 each oh my....

I got these tyres on my Suzuki Swift Sport 2014 when I imported it from Japan.
One of the best tyres I've used till now.
Holds onto the road like a train on the rails!
Dry drip is just outstanding, wet grip is okay when the tyres are 100% heated.. But still, have to be careful..
The noise is not that disturbing, if you are playing music or if you have a sport exhaust youwon't pay much attention to it.
I had adjustable coilovers on my car and it was set to 75% stiff.. So its obvious I won't get the best comfort but as a little sport car it was fine for me.
Will definitely buy again if they sell the same dimensions in my country.

Contisport5 is good when moving but not so good if accelerating in wet from standstill.Have found wheelspin too easily losing traction.I will probably go Hankook when I renew as they were great on my previous Seat Toledo's especially 1.9 tdi 4 model and better price.

I currently drive a 2011 Skoda Fabia 1.2TSI (105hp). The car was fitted just 6 months ago with four new Dunlop Sport BluResponse tires. From that moment, the car started to bounce on the front axle (don't think that it moved from the ground, just irritating minor - but continuous - vibrations all the way from 10km/h up to 70km/h, coming from the steering wheel and the driving sit). I visited 10 different garage shops, one of them using the latest Hunter machine for checking wheels and tires, and none of them found something peculiar with the wheels or the tires. Nevertheless, my bad opinion about the Dunlop tires did not change over time, and I am arguing about the specific tires, not Dunlop as a whole. This is a pricey choice for a less than mediocre product. I will never buy them again or consult anyone to buy them. It may be the case that they did not perform well on the specific car, for a number of reasons, other than the tires themselves, but the fact is that after having used a handfull of different tire manufacturers in different cars, I can understand when a tire is bad, OK, or good. These - for my taste - are between bad and OK.

When I purchased my 2014 Swift Sport it had mismatched tyres front and rear (Falken on the front and Continentals on the rear) and in the summer months it felt OK, but quickly began to feel a bit too unsure in the wetter months. In early 2018 I changed to the S.Drives all round and quickly noticed an improvement in the handling, particularly in front end bite. With an electric steering set-up the car isn't exactly buzzing with feedback, but you felt the confidence to lean more on the fronts during turn-in. Rear end stability is much improved, and now it's only really standing water or uneven surfaces that cause the back to skip slightly. Even so, when it does, the S.Drive feels a really progressive tyre. Wear appears to be pretty good, the last 2,000 miles has seen a change in commute to a couple of B roads and I do lean on the car quite a bit. So to see decent tread depth still and little sign of edge wearing is a positive. Overall, I'd definitely buy these again rather than pay more for the Continental option.
