Personenkraftwagen Sommer Extreme Performance Tyres Tyre Review Highlights
Nankang NS2R — rated 70%
while driving a Smart roadster for 4500 miles
Initial impression was in the greasy cold (~0°C) and not overly bad, definitely daily driveable if you're sensible.
Track use was moderate but good, be it dry, damp or gravel (you can get out of a trap or drive a flat road without washing away easily).
Wet grip is fine, as in pure chinesium dry handling fine. You'll get there, you can slide it if you want, it'll be slow.
Feels very progressive, but definitely needs some slip to be quick. Feels somewhat understeery and loaded feedback is great, very suitable for mountain roads and bumpy tracks.
Slides are very enjoyable, transitioning between grip and sliding smoothly, confidence inspiring.
Noise is absurdly loud and vibrations are harsh, I had people wonder if a bearing blew out but that's to be expected. Once did 900 km of highway and by hour 5 when I stopped, the combination of the loud tyres and very loud wind noise in the car literally deafened me for a good 15 minutes (~60% wind noise).
Rolling resistance is high, averaging a good 1-1.5 extra L/100 km fuel consumption on both regular gas and E85 as well as a noticeably reduced top speed.
Front set is barely used, while rear had to be replaced at ~12K km despite not seeing much abuse, so be careful about weight and balance for maintenance (power is not the issue on this car).
Grip levels didn't noticeably change thoughout, except once where they felt noticeably slower but I suspect a bad previous heat cycle when I lent it, as it came back to normal after 2-3 proper cycles. Haven't used it in full wet conditions past half-life though.

Available in a good range of sizes, definitely recommend it as a cheap fun tyre, or if a high speed index is needed for inspection on older cars.

Hoosier TrackAttack Pro — rated 63%
while driving a Porsche 1993 928 GTS for 943 miles
Tire was grippy on track (dry), tolerated heat well, but heat cycled extremely quickly. Got 3 days of track on them. 4th day had no grip at all—wouldn't have run a 4th day, had I known prior to arrival at track. Overall, good and fast tire, but extremely short life. Higher resistance to heat than RE-71RS and even more so than CR-S. Marginally faster than both too, but expensive and needs replacing too frequently for most.

Yokohama ADVAN APEX V601 — rated 66%
while driving a Mazda Mazda 3 BP 2.0 for 3700 miles
I would call the Yokohama Advan Apex V601 a good teacher that helps you get better at driving and a very talkative tyre, it has a very narrow optimal window not sure if it has a very small slip angle or what, it squeals early but not necessarily lost grip yet on the same corners with MaxContact 7 it feels like it takes less longitudinal G, Advan Apex V601 is sensitive to inputs, any bad input there will be feedback and it will understeer for me, i would say i feel MaxContact 7 is a much grippier tyre even when driving inputs are bad, imagine after improving your technique

noise level when new is equivalent to a worn out 1.7mm MaxContact 7

my apex v601 is 6000km in im down to 6.3-6.9mm of tread depth, did a 2 hour track day as well, it kind of help up, a lot of squeal thats for sure, but the feedback is great you can really feel when its almost loosing traction when its sliding, and if its really goin sideways, wear wise its quite ok for my slow pacing on the track, the flakes you see are rubber picked up on track, drive hard enough it will all fall away back to smooth tyre

i still dont know what mindset should i have right now, is having a narrow optimal grip window a good thing or a bad thing for a tyre, would i buy again? im really in a mixed feeling zone, MC7 is a top choice, more forgiving, more grip but not as direct, feedback is not much, i dont know where the limits of the MC7 is but V601 i can easily know how much i can push it, when to pull back, when to correct my steering

on the aesthetic side the outer shoulder tread design looks good thou hahhaha no idea why

Nankang NS2R — rated 87%
while driving a Honda CR Z · Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 spirited miles
Honda Crz stock engine 10-12 000 km and still verry good .I think IT will last at list another 8000
But I have no powerful car. In dry and +10 °C .. is all You need. Grip ,handling , brake ...feedback everything you need
On wet it a litle bit slower ,but I feel is becouse of me.not the tire. I have to learn more about performance driving
Being a Racetrack.oriented tire , of course is verry stiff. A Little bit heavy ...but is a budget tire. Not premium
IT is verry good tire for it's price . Over exepctation
I will replaced with another tire , only if I will find Something lighter on a same budget.I have no powerful car.and for 1.5 liters and 120 HP....weight is important

Pirelli P Zero Corsa — rated 74%
while driving a Alfa Romeo 1.9 JTD M · Driving on mostly country roads for 10000 spirited miles
Has them on a Giulia QV. Great in the dry but scary on the wet. In fact they hold on well on wet handling but you can't put the power down at all.

Hankook Ventus RS4 — rated 80%
while driving a Subaru BRZ · Driving on track for 9559 spirited miles
The long wearing reputation of the Hankook RS4 does not disappoint. I got 9500 miles out of mine including 14 track days and a couple autocross events, with minimal change in dry grip all the way to the end. I likely could have done a couple more track days with this set of RS4 tires, but was ready to try something new. The RS4's endurance will most likely draw me back for my next track tire.

The consistency is the highlight of the RS4's performance. It takes 2 laps to warm up typically, but any variation in pace after that was always driver error. It is remarkably insensitive to rising pressures with heat and never feels greasy on the BRZ. The tire actually improves in steering feedback and progressiveness at the limit as it gets hotter. The stiff construction likely helped keep wear remarkably even for a BRZ running only -1.6 deg front camber.

The biggest performance weakness of the RS4 is relatively numb steering sub-limit. It is not a fun street tire since the steering effort is relatively flat and the response is not as linear when cold. It's also more easily disturbed by mid corner bumps when cold than some other 200TW tires, which contributes to lower confidence on road compared to its on track character.

Wet grip when is not competitive with the latest generation of 200TW tires, but still manageable for drives to the track. On a wet track day, I found the lack of steering feedback at lower lateral loads and when the tires is cold difficult to build confidence in. It takes conscious effort to warm up these tires in wet conditions and continuous evaluation of the condition available to use the grip. While this concept applies to all tires, I feel the RS4 is more sensitive to warm up and is more challenging in wet conditions than other 200TW tires. I feel this is a reasonable tradeoff for the long wear and heat tolerance, but ideally want to have another set of track tires ready for wet track days in the future.

Comfort is acceptable for the category but there are better options. I was surprised when changing to Bridgestone RE-71RS to find a significant improvement in comfort and less irritating noise quality. Most of the cyclic noises from the RS4 happen at 30-50 mph so for highway trip to a track they are not consistently annoying especially in the first half of their wear life.

Best 200tw endurance tire for mixed use. Lasts an okay amount of time and has very good grip

Kumho Ecsta PS91 — rated 83%
while driving a BMW 520d Tourer · Driving on mostly motorways for 80000 average miles
Bought my 2015 f10 520d with 210k kms 2 years ago had these tyres but *star branded OE bmw, the car now has nearly 290k kms and these tyres are still around 4.5mm of tread left after more than 80.000 kilometers of driving, all 4 tyres are the same and i rotate them roughly every 15.000kms but i am impressed by wear of these tyres even tho its a 2liter diesel, the previous owner bought these tyres i would personally never buy tyres like these for a 2.0diesel 5 series but overall the wear is really good, noise has always been relatively quiet and comfort is ok, altho its a luxury line 5 series so i cannot really comment on comfort much as ive only had winter tyres on to compare and they are about the same, fuel consumption has always been around 6.5l to 7l per 100km in this car with these tyres, they have been good in the wet also never felt the car struggle even when giving it some power in the rain, im not sure how the normal ps91 is compared to the *star branded OE but i have been quite impressed with these tyres, especially the wear, as i drove maybe 5000km on winter tyres and everything else was done on these ps91*
When these tyres are done i will def put some touring tyres on the car as i feel these UUHP are not really needed.
Cant comment too much about handling as ive never really pushed the car just driven fast in straight line.

Dunlop Direzza DZ102 — rated 69%
while driving a Suzuki ERTIGA 2022 · Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
Initial Impression this tyre I got simply because it is cheapest in the option that time compared to Bridgestone Turanza T005 and Continental UC7. While from the design it is looks good in the tread. For Dry Handling As I don't drive aggressively it is good and grip enough but for wet handling in the straight so far no excessive hydroplaning but a little understeer when cornering above 70 km/h. As this tyre segment is second grade performance tyre so it kinda Sporty-comfort Tyre (sporty look but still comfort), But for comfort I feel it is quite bumpy that making steering wheel is shaking especially in uneven roads and not that quiet compared my previous Goodyear Assurance Triplemax. Overall will choose this tyre if it is for show only or using aftermarket wheel as it is look good and sporty but so cheap, but for daily driving using OEM wheel I will consider another choices

Continental ExtremeContact Force — rated 80%
while driving a Toyota MR2 · Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 spirited miles
Ran these tires as daily tires for my 1985 MR2 and had a fantastic time with them. My previous set were ecs02's and they were just a bit ahead of those on grip, very good feel through the car and translated well. When sliding, they are great on feedback and I really liked them on the edge. The wear was good, great even for a 200tw. I think this tire is definitely best as a track tire, usable as dual duty for autocross or daily or track. When cold, they are quite skittery and will not have the same level of grip as when they are warm, very behind the ecs02. On a cold day or wet day at autocross, the tires would not warm up and were much slower than other tires. The tires do fall off a little with so many heat cycles in them but still hold very well and grip fine at the track.
