Best Tyres for the Ford Mondeo Titanium X

Having had Mondeos and Passat estate cars as company cars for over 20 years, I have always sworn by Goodyear Tyres. I had them on my own Mondeo MK4.5 Titanium X Estate with sports suspension, they were 215/50 R17s. I had the chance to buy some mint MK3 ST 18" alloys with some almost new Uniroyal RainSport 5, 225/40 R18 tyres. I bought them and to my surprise I find the Uniroyal's amazing on the Mondeo. Handling is just as good in the dry and better in the wet as the Goodyear Efficiency Grips in my opinion and they are quieter. I will definitely be buying these again because they are approx £30 per tyre less than the Goodyear. Don't get me wrong the Goodyears are great tyres.

Having used these for 25k miles on an almost 2 ton car they have served me really well. Commute is 1/3 country roads, 1/3 A road and 1/3 motorway. After 2 years they are now reaching their wear indicator so very good durability. Dry grip is very good. Wet can be a little sketchy if the roads are greasy but pretty predictable. Resistant to most winter potholes, ie. no real damage after hitting a couple of decent sized craters. Will be replacing these with the same again next month.

Hi, I've done around 500km on new Turanza, mainly in city. I've got Mondeo mk4 1.6TDCI after chip. I've used previously Vredestein Quatrac Pro. I've have tested so far Bridgestone on the dry and wet in 20-5C. So far they more comfortable than Vredestein Quatrac Pro, noise is around the same (so they rather quiet tires - I've been using 225/50 R17 (not a standard Mondeo mk4, but similiar size (a bit bigger than standard 215/50R17 and smaller than next standard tire 235/45R18))). On dry Bridgestones are more gripper than Vredestein and on wet the are excellent compared to Vredestein. On Quatrac Pro when you drive through a deep puddle / water it tears the steering wheel out of your hands and you have to use both hands to keep the steering wheel, on Bridgestone you use 1 hand (not both) and you don't have to much strength to keep the steering wheel still. But what's more important on Quatrac Pro I was afraid of turning left (in UK right) at crossroads. Vredestein doesn't have grip when you set off on wet. You have to use the gas pedal very gently to keep the wheels from spinning. Bridgestones are almost as good as Michelin Primacy 4 (which I use in the summer) on the wet!. I haven't so far tested the tire in the hot summer (when temperature goes above 20 I will switch to Primacy 4), nor on ice and snow, so I set NA for wear, buy again, snow and ice grip.

I have Pilot Sport 5’s wrapped on all four corners of my car. I briefly had Pilot Sport 3 and 4 on my previous car.

It cost me around £145 per tyre fitted, the fronts were fitted a few months after the rears.

The tyres are very good for performance, grip really well, however it’s worth noting my car is not high performance so they haven’t exactly been pushed to their limits. They also look the part, it’s always nice to have premium tyres on your car.

My issue with these tyres is the wear. I do a lot of mileage so I understand the time length will be shorter due to increased distances but how they’ve worn out is poor for the price I’ve paid.

After 10k miles and less than a year, one of the rear tyres had become misshapen causing a horrible whirring noise. Still having about 5mm of tread. Also worth noting my car is FWD so it is not even a driven wheel. My cars geometry is within spec and the running gear is okay as well (I am a vehicle technician for a living and I’m very particular on making sure everything is tip top). This was very disappointing as I had paid £140 for a tyre that hadn’t lasted 10k miles. I understand this can happen, but then it also happened to the front right tyre after around 13k miles and less than a year, although this tyre is obviously a driven tyre and had worn down to around 3.5mm at this point.

I do a mix of motorway driving and around town driving.

To give everybody an idea, if it weren’t for tyre defects.
The front tyres centre 3 tread, FWD driven after 13k miles:
Front left: 3.7 / 3.8 / 3.8
Front right: 4.2 / 4.4 / 4.4

And as for the rears, after 21k miles
Rear left: 4.8 / 5.1 / 4.5
Rear right: 5.1 / 5.3 / 5

I had found out through a tyre fitter and also noticed through some of my own experiences that Michelins are relatively common to go misshapen prematurely and although they are very well performing tyres, the premium cost for them it is not worth it to me for tyres that from my experience become defective early on and would rather explore other options.

Having them for about 50.000 kms , i had no complains from them. Very quiet tires , with good behavior no matter the weather , low wear and average fuel consumption. I changed them only due to mileage . There was 5 mm left on them despite the fact that mondeo is a heavy car. Unfortunately Toyo comfort were not available on the new size that i fitted so i got Hankook ventus prime 4.

Very predictable handling in all weather conditions. Excel's in wet and will not hydroplane when driven to road conditions. Slight increase in highway gas mileage. Good in snow and ice but not as quite as good as dedicated snow tires. Quietest tires I've ever had.

Bought these in July 2018 at 68.000 miles did not drive much as I have three cars. After just 11.000 miles in 42 months the tyres have to be replaced, inside walls of both rear tyres have started to split and delaminate. Tyre tread depth is still great and would otherwise go on for a long time yet. I would never buy these again not safe enough in my opinion. Please think twice before you buy.

Bought these to go on a 2.2tdci mondeo and they're great for the price. Car is a daily user with no issues in the wet and very queit tyres. Will use again.

Awesome handling in snow. For the price best tire you can buy. Its not best on dry and high speed, but on snow great!

Quite simply the best Winter Tyre I have ever driven on. The reviews are right - Bridgestone have overtaken Continental. The Wet performance in particular is simply amazing. The ability to clear water is superb! Dry performance is very good and a quick check in the recent snow & ice showed that these tyres are very effective at handling Winter weather also. An amazing all rounder and cheaper than some of the premium competition also! Total no-brainer.;....if you want Winter Tyres these are the ones to get.
