Writing about the Vredestein Comtrac 2 All Season
rated 69%
Bought used Vito 110 CDI with some worn summer Pirelli tyres and had also one set of winter Sava. Since I hated idea of having two sets for this van, I decided to go with all rounders - all season tyres. I was looking for something which might have good value for money ratio, but obviously tests were not positive for many van tyres. Since Vito is RWD I knew I needed good traction in rear and Vredestein as brand was always brand which I looked when I was getting tyres, but never bought any. This time I decided to give it a chance, and I can say I am satisfied. I can see tyres are bit worn, especially since van is 99% on highway, but I hope they will survive up to 50.000 km.
I would buy again!

One of the best tires for winter conditions. When I drove in snow I had felling like I drive on dry surface. Highly recommended. I will by again for sure.

Tires a little noisy. Good quality price choice. Wear equivalent to other brands.

Writing about the Vredestein Quatrac 5
rated 85%
Living in the Netherlands, grip in wet conditions is more important than in snow. I drove 80.000 km with one set and still have 3.5 mm left. Grip in the wet is great compared to my previous tyres (factory fit on a Ford Fiesta, don't know which ones). When going to Germany in winter, grip in snow turned out to be bad. a slight incline was too much on compacted snow. To me, this doesn't matter because that's 0,5 of the 80.000 km I drove with those tires. The grip in the wet, wear and comfort make them a 'buy again'! 3 mm is fine for next summer if they'll last that long, 1,6 mm is required in the Netherlands. So this is past 'mid life' but will take some time before replacement.

I have reviewed this tyre (HVP3) before in comparison to the ContiPremiumContact 5 (CPC5) which I have on the other axle. I swapped them around a few times and kept notes (click on make and model car for my other reviews as this one is only on wear).
The 240 estate with an understressed 111 bhh engine isn't going to wear rubber in a hurry. I already wrote that the HVP3 isn't the best tyre when it comes to treadlife, but now I found something peculiar.
The HVP3 wears noticeably quicker on the rear axle than on the front. This would seem logical for a RWD car, but the CPC5 shows almost no difference between the two axles.
If this difference between front and rear wear remains the same throughout the life of the HVP3, it would actually be a worse tyre than the aleady infamous CPC5 (when it comes to treadlife, that is).
Even though this is a great tyre grip and comfort wise, mile munchers may be better off with another tyre.

I have ContiEco Contact 3 on Skoda Octavia 2 since 2011 and they are very good tyres: very good on dry road, good on wet road, no aquaplaning , silent on hi speed and very resistant. The wear is excellent for these tyres, I have been owning it for 7 years and they are still good. On the other hand they have 2 problems: low driving feedback and the rubber is getting older. Now, after 7 years, they became noisy and not so confident as they were new.
