205/55 R17 Tyres

Good tyres, but Continetal winter contact 830P was much better in snow.

After four years, 17,000 miles, and despite having plenty of tread left (5.5 mm), this tire is undriveable in wet conditions.

The PIRELLI replaced the CONTINENTAL ecocontact. I changed them because whether on dry or wet (catastrophic on snow), they did not suit me. No feedback at the wheel, poor in curves. The CONTINENTAL reduce friction with the road to decrease consumption, which also improves comfort and rolling noise compared to the PIRELLI.

6 Months is very hot over 30 Celsius, summer is well over 36 to 38. Imagine how hot is the road.
I did not expect to last long but they got stiff and traction is not that good. I mean from 1.5 liter engine producing 150hp and 250nm torque you dont expect to spin wheels with 2nd when you just get in boost with 2000rpm. If you push it in corners traction take over because the outer well spin like crazy. The compound was suppose to become softer in summer, but NO, is getting harder. Imagine in winter. This is the 1st time i put Hankook and the last. For me Dunlop, Goodyear or Michelin.

Have used the cross climate range of tyres for many years, across several family and work cars, the cross climate 2 have been excellent again. Excellent grip in the dry and wet. I don`t recall any stopping / aquaplaning issues. Not a good handling as a summer tyre. Very little use in snow, but performed great when needed.

Have just replaced two front tyres after 45,000 miles of use, with cross climate 3. I expect to get 50,000 miles from the CC2 rears. To be fair, they haven`t been driven particularly hard, and there was plenty of dual carriageway / motorway driving. Wear rate did seem to increase over the last few months of summer 2026, but not surprising given the temperatures we`ve had.

The Cross Climates may cost a few pounds more than some other all season tyres, but given the mileage they get, I think they are hard to beat for value.
I`m expecting good things from the CC3 tyres and would be very reluctant to use any other tyres now.

These are very impressive tyres, not one ABS moment always stopped with confidence.
They cornered and braked very well in wet or dry conditions, on narrow country roads with a mix of motorway 33000 miles in total not one dodgy experience .
I could probably knock a few more miles out of them
