275/40 R20 Tyre Review Highlights
Writing about the Petlas Explero PT431
rated 100%
I bought these Petlas Explero tires 275/40/20 in 2022. I bought a set of summer tires and a set of winter tires.
I have already run about 65,000 km on the summer tires (3 seasons) and I can say that these are very good tires.
I personally did not expect such behavior on the road.
I drive the tires on an Audi Q7 2009 TDI, in general I drive a little faster outside the city.
Very good behavior in turns, in water and braking.
I can say the same thing about the winter tires from the same series.

I bought these tires, because they were really cheap - new, but old DOT for 220€ for 4 and still testing tire wear on the car and having fun. For 3k miles on a 490hp RWD car they have handled OK.
Tire wear is barely visible.
Dry grip at the front axle is good, it is handling the corners well. Dry stopping is surprisingly good.
Dry grip at the rear axle is doubtful - most probably due to the power of the car. The good thing is that they have good progressiveness- will be good rear tires for a drift or track sessions.
Can't comment on the wet grip, as I'm still extremely cautious in wet conditions. Sidewalls are stiff, so no issues with potholes. Balanced with no problems. Probably 85% dry grip and 80% wet grip of premium tire. I would advise on buying them if you need tire for fun, trackdays or cars that go fast through tire sets. If you want something safe in all conditions - go for some midclass tires at least.

I have these on my 2021 Tesla Model Y. I bought the car used with 39k miles and I am now at 50k miles. If these are original, they have not worn out bad at all. If they were replaced, that The tires have a weird peeling in the face of the tire which is crazy since I don’t drive it like I stole it. Tires are maintained at the correct pressure and the peeling is on both sides.

Terrible tyres. They drive OK but they are cracked and need to be changes on safety grounds before they are work out. The out tread blocks have lots of cracks. This is on tyres just over 3 years from manufacturer date.

Fitted these as a cheap option for my 2018 BMW X5 40d..... so bloody uncomfortable as the garage cannot balance them no matter how hard they try! Constant body vibrations even at low speed. My previous Goodyear tyres no vibrations, I did read previous X5 reviews so thought I'd give them a go....oh, guess you get what you pay for.

These are fitted to a BMW X5 F15 40D M Sport on the fronts and have covered 22,000 miles so far and are on 5mm and have been wearing evenly. Now for a 2.5 tonne SUV that is bloody impressive. I am thinking these will last 30,000 miles and so far no complaints. Dry and Wet handling Excellent, Comfort good for Run Flat, and wear rate is amazing for Conti's as they usually wear quite fast. Brilliant tyre

These tires hook great in the dry. I have a ‘68 C10 that is LS swapped that is my daily driver and these tires cause me no problems. Most of the driving I do in these tires is around town but I always do pulls and launches occasionally. For launching/drag racing, these tires hook surprisingly well. When I’m at almost redline rpm and shift to the next gear, these tires don’t even chirp. They are very comfortable and smooth riding, and make hardly any noise (that I can tell because my engine is loud). In the rain, these tires will hook up when you want them to but if you downshift and blip the throttle they will definitely spin. Cornering in these tires feels pretty good. Steering responds well, but I don’t know a lot about the cornering because I haven’t pushed these to their limit before. As far as snow and ice goes… with my experience driving a rear wheel drive truck that is light in the rear end, and has a manual transmission, these tires do hardly anything in the snow, and absolutely nothing in the ice. However, this is largely due to the weight of the rear of my truck, because the front tires on it were staying planted the whole time the back was sliding around. So for the money, these tires are the best you’re going to get.

Very happy with the tires. They performed very well in deep snow and pulled the car out without any problems in the heaviest debris.

Dry and wet grip was average at best as was handling. They were fitted to my range rover sport when I bought it. Dated 3320 (wk 33 2020) so were less than 2 yrs old and looking at mot mileage, less than 5K miles. The edges, both inside and out on the fronts, the rubber had already perished and was badly cracked. Would definitely not buy these tyres and if I bought a car with them fitted would stop at the tyre shop on the way home and swap them out. Just fitted 4 x General Grabber GT. its like a different car..
Would not recommend these tyres and if you already have them, would recommend changing them asap!

Came fitted on my RR Sport.
Big problem with these tyres. As per the review thread, the inner shoulder has delaminated on two of the tyres. One was horrific, wires showing, but 90% if the tyre width us okay. This is difficult to check being on the inner shoulder and I took the precaution of winding the steering on, I was shocked to find out what has happened.
Tread is still above the wear lines, these things, I feel, are dangerous.
