Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Given 84% while driving a BMW 328i Coupe (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Bought these tyres after reading a review in a BMW magazine as a cheap alternative to the more expensive top brands and have not been disappointed. Dry grip is great and I can't fault Wet grip either. I have done around 15000 miles over 5 years on these tyres and all four tyres have over 3.5mm left on them. I have not driven the car on any other tyre so not sure on how they compare to the top brands. The only issue I have had is cracks appearing between the treads over the last year, but I was told by the MOT test technician that a few of the top brands are prone to this problem as well and that the tyres are still safe to drive on.

Excellent all round

Given 91% while driving a Toyota MK2 MR2 Turbo (225/45 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 12,000 spirited miles
Dry grip is very impressive for what is supposed to be a 'budget' tyre. Good feedback, and very nicely progressive on the limit. Even in the MR2 with 325bhp, the car is very controllable at the limit, as experienced on a couple of track days.
In the wet again, the tyre performs extremely well, giving far better grip than the ZZ3's they replaced - they move water very well, and I've never had any unexpected breakaway in the wet, even driving relatively quickly.
Despite two track days and plenty of country road hoonage, the tyres have lasted really well - still plenty of tread left on them after over a year.
All in all, I have been amazed with this tyre, and wouldn't even consider anything different when it comes to replace them (ok, it may have to be the FK452's as the 451's are discontinued I believe).

Given 77% while driving a Nissan Primera (205/50 R16 W) on mostly town for 7,000 average miles
Mine are actually 452s as tested over 7K miles and highly recommended on this site as an excellent performing budget high performance tyre with a good wear rate.

I have found that these tyres, recently purchased and made by a japanese company, are subjectively as good as the Pirelli P6000s they replaced in all aspects. In addition, they are actually noticeably much smoother and quieter on the motorway - on my car at least - which is a most welcome improvement.

The fact they are currently ?28 cheaper per tyre than the Pirellis at Black Circles makes them an easy choice for those with access to this information. Spend more if you wish, but if you do please make sure you are actually getting something better!

Given 99% while driving a BMW E46 3 Series (225/45 R17 W) on mostly town for 0 spirited miles
I've bought brand new tyres about 10 000 km (~ 6250 miles)ago. These tyres are very good for my crazy driving style (grip on the dry or wet road)and they do fit to my car (BMW 330xd - 4 wheel drive). It's already 10 000 km, but they do look like the brand new. Very good tyres for the very reasonable price (price and quality). I've used Pirelli PZero before, but i did not get such good results (compare price and quality).

Given 86% while driving a Mercedes Benz s420 (255/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 55,000 average miles
I have bought these to replace Michelin pilots that were three times the price! I can't tell any difference in performance from them - they even look the same as the michelins. Even with a V8 under the bonnet and two tons of load from a W140 S-Class, I cannot fault them and will be buying more next time around

Given 84% while driving a Toyota MK2 MR2 NA (215/40 R17) on mostly country roads for 8,000 spirited miles
Fantastic tyres, had these front and rear and was very impressed with them considering they are supposed to be a buget performance tyre, good all round, lots of grip in the twisty bits, shoulder profile is also kind to the wheel arches of those with lowered cars! would definately recomend these and happy to use them again!

Given 69% while driving a Honda Civic Type R (205/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
These are a really good budget tyre. They look like they're going to last 20k miles which is better than the stock bridgestone 040s and are much better in the wet.

Not quite as alive as the 040s but I'm not sure I've driven on a better tyre for the price.
