225/60 17 Tyre Review Highlights

General Grabber GT Plus rated 54% while driving a Hyundai Tucson

wall of tyre to soft new tyre 3 months old had to replace it

Michelin Primacy 5 rated 93% while driving a Subaru Outback 3.0L
Driving on mostly town for 0 average miles
Recently changed from primacy 3 to 5s. I was always satisfied with the 3s but the 5s really are a step up. The ride feel and roll resistance are excellent. My fuel consumption has definitely improved. I can't comment on it's wet weather performance yet (it's currently a bit dry in Australia) but it feels sure footed in the dry. It definitely feels like a premium tyre

Hankook Ventus Prime 4 rated 100% while driving a Kia Motors Sportage
Driving on mostly motorways for 30000 average miles
This tyre (and the car 2020 sportage) literally saved my life while going at 80 mph and on a highway and felt asleep. Lucky me the passengers woke me up inches before the collision to the railings (it was going to hurt a lot). Corrected the car half-awake and the tyres didnt even make a noise and the car was totally OK with that sharp correction. I drove them for like 30k miles and now going to replace them with the same ones.

Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 rated 95% while driving a BMW X3 2.0d XDrive
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 easy going miles
Bought these to replace Bridgestone A005 Evo all season tyres. They are an improvement on these in every way and feel similar to the original BMW * marked Pirelli P7 in the dry, with the benefit of winter performance. The leap in technology over the last 10 years is incredible, so that I can have one tyre which is as good as the original summer tyre yet feels better to drive on in the wet/winter than the BMW winter tyres. So far, after 5000 miles, the tread has only dropped to 7mm suggesting around 50k miles from a set. Amazing! Managed to get them for £130 each too.

Nokian Outpost APT rated 89% while driving a Subaru 2.0 Crosstrek
Driving on mostly country roads for 6000 spirited miles
Replace a set of Nitto Grapplers with 40000 miles on them... dry grip on pavement is great though they shine (as the grapplers did) in gravel including soft roads. The APT is stronger in snow grip though drops on ice, especially cornering grip. When these tires break traction however, it is predictable and gradual bringing no surprises, making them very controllable even with the traction control turned off. Would absolutely buy these again!

Yokohama BluEarth E70 rated 63% while driving a Subaru XV Crosstrek
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 average miles
Terrible tyres , extremely noisy on most road surfaces. Wet grip is horrible as it will unpredictably slip any and almost everywhere without prior warning. OEM tyres for Subaru xv. Terrible just terrible

Only good thing which is arguable is the tread wear which up till now after 20,000km still looks fresh.
I suspect this is due to its hard compound making it grip so poorly and producing so much noise.
So many cons for just one pro of longer tread life

Bridgestone Dueler All Terrain AT002 rated 97% while driving a Subaru Subaru forester 2.0
Driving on track for 1 spirited miles
Awesome tyres. I studies the various tyres for my Subaru Forester eBoxer (2024), because of where I live, I need good AT performance, yet also good road performance and as winters get cold here in rural/inland Spain, also good winter and snow performance. And after thr Dana the Valencia area experienced, the track I have to drive daily (or twice a day) had become even more challenging. But these tyres seem to have it all and perform outstanding. I also looked at the energy labelling of these tyres. There are very few AT tyres that have a C rating. On the tarmac, these tyres are virtually as quiet as the original Bridgestone Dueller HP Sport, that the car came with. So I am super pleased!

Hankook Kinergy 4S2 rated 73% while driving a Subaru Forester
Driving on mostly motorways for 8500 average miles
Good tyres in wet, dry, good in a light snow, cornering. Poor fuel economy, when I used in summer F rated winter tyre, they used 0.8-1l less when Hankook C rated tyres. I was checking it carefully driving same roads, same conditions, same speed, traffic and etc. Not so sure for the wear yet. One of the best tyres in autumn, or rainy spring.

Yokohama BluEarth E70 rated 87% while driving a Subaru XV Crosstrek
Driving on a combination of roads for 17000 average miles
OEM tires on my 2021 Subaru XV. Good well made tire. Had no issues. Very predictable and grip well overall. Noise level depends on type of road surface. Very quiet on smooth surface and noisy on coarse and dirt road surface. Tread pattern is mainly for bitumen use, but handles dirt roads quite well, even the loose surface ones. Did surprisingly well in tricky mud conditions several times. Didn't need X mode to get through deep and slippery mud that had obviously stopped others.

Easy side wall damage with road imperfections/potholes. Wouldn’t recommend if travelling on roads that aren’t prestine

Wanli Harmonic H220 rated 0% while driving a Jeep Patriot
Driving on mostly country roads for 0 easy going miles
Tire weather cracked at an accelerated rate. Tires were anticipated to last a few more years based on tread and within 6 months the tires wore down badly.

General Altimax RT43 rated 82% while driving a Subaru Forester
Driving on a combination of roads for 24000 easy going miles
These tires are a very good value; they do everything reasonably well for an all season, including snow, and seem pretty durable. I drive 42 miles to work each day, 8 miles of which is on gravel. These tires still have 8/32nds of tread despite the gravel at about 24,000 miles of use; they started at 11/32nds. Comfort wise, they ride pretty well and don't emit much noise. The only bad thing about them that I've noticed is that they tend to follow lines on grooved surfaces. I would recommend these if you're looking for a good all season tire without having to pay a premium brand price. They are currently being replaced by the General Altimax rt45 though.
