Passenger Car Winter High Performance Tyres Tyre Review Highlights
Have been using these tyres on my BMW i3 for the last two winters and have been absolutely delighted with them.

I must stress I would never normally have considered Fulda tyres, however the choice of winter tyres available for the i3 is extremely limited. When I purchased these neither Continental or Michelin had any stock available so given how comparatively cheap these were I decided to give them a go and could replace them if needed.

Genuinely I’ve been amazed how well these have performed. In summer I’ve driven the i3 both on its stock Bridgestone tyres and Michelin e Primacy, these fulda tyres are more than a match for both!

The i3 retained its sharp precise steering feel and the grip in all weathers has been faultless. We predominantly have wet weather throughout the winter and the i3 has hardly troubled the stability control at all even on full throttle starts merging onto main roads. I’ve never had the ABS trigger (other than on ice) whilst fitted, I do frequently brake very strongly to help clear the disc surface of corrosion (caused by the strong use of regen braking by the i3).

This seems to be a contrast to lots of the reviews on here, perhaps the extremely narrow width of the i3 tyres are better suited to the fuldas tread pattern.

I consider myself a fussy tyre purchaser, who is happy to pay extra for the security offered by premium brands, but these Fulda tyres have totally exceeded my expectations. Had I paid the same price of Michelins or Continentals I would still be extremely happy with my purchase, the fact they were over £300 cheaper for a set makes them a genuine bargain. Will definitely purchase them again once the performance starts to deteriorate but at the moment they are as good as the day I bought them.

Well done Fulda.

I drive across Germany into Poland every winter, so required a snow rated tyre for my 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i. After fitting I went for a test drive, sub 8°c and wet. They felt like what I imagine a qualifying tyre feels like compared to my summer ContiSport Contact 7s, which noticeably lose grip in the cold.

The rain was very heavy when I left Euro tunnel in France, and became near biblically torrential in Germany. The Sottozeros felt like I was driving on warm tarmac - no exaggeration whatsoever. The rain completely overcame my windscreen wipers at points causing me to slow, the tyres gave me no reason to slow. At very high speeds there was a sense that they weren't able to clear the surface water entirely, but at 90mph felt solidly connected to the road.

On the return journey, we went via Quedlinberg where it was snowy, icy, and the roads were ungritted. I had to slow for this as the car was sliding and I was too tired to enjoy it. I doubt anything other than a spiked tyre would have been any use in those conditions.

I've done this trip twice now with the tyres, plus daily driving as I fit them as soon as the temperature drops consistently below 9°c, roughly 4,000 miles, with no observable wear yet.

I would never be without a tyre like this in winter now, even in GB where it is not mandatory. They clear surface water like nothing I've ever experienced before and don't just feel safe in extreme rain, but actually enjoyable.

I would never buy this tyres again , first winter was amazing , 2nd winter was bad, now 3rd winter is worse than summer tires , the rubber got so hard on them and they have no more grip.

Fine winter tire. Grip was nothing out of the ordinary, but the tire felt fairly responsive.

what a noisy, useless piece of... I've never driven tires like that. On dry they were just enough to move, nothing more. No feeling, no comfort. On wet it was terrible, even sometimes dangerous. The only tyres, when I lost control driving 30 mph on the curver motorway exit - rear end started to overtake. I was driving a while, so tyres were warm, outside was cold and rainy, but since then I drove many more tyres, incl. all season, and none was so dangerous. Noisy, hard as stone, although they were 4 y old wehn I sold the car. Only plus - wear. They seemed to be eternal.

Very good tyre that still holds on after 5 seasons and over 45.000kms. The tread is still good for another season.

Ice grip is good, snow grip is even better. Dry braking is good. In dry corners, the sidewall tends to bend to the point that you think the rim is going to touch the ground, which may give an unpleasant feeling and also a lack of security, but the car stays on its projected trajectory. Noise level is pleasant. Rubber compound is still soft to the touch even after all these years. The outer tread is prone to visual damages that look like punctures, but they are not, and they have no impact on the driving whatsoever.

Definitely gets a recommend, though i think they are more suitable for less heavier cars.

Decided to give these a try since I found them at a good deal and reviews watched didn't point out any major flaws.

First impression was good, but the weather was mostly sunny and the roads were dry. The real problem started when it started snowing. The grip on snow is not the best, and if the snow layer is not that hardened, you're basically stuck. I remember I had to borrow a shovel once to clear the snow layer around my front wheels in order to move the car. It wasn't really something I am not used to, since in eastern Europe winters can get very bad, but since the snow layer was not that big, I expected a winter tyre to handle tat with no issues at all.

The second time I realised these tyre are not only average, but extremely dangerous is once on the highway when there was a thin layer of ice formed on the road. At a speed of 70 km/h I tried to switch the lane and after the slightest steering wheel touch I immediately felt how I lost control, so for the next few meters the car was like a rock on a frozen lake. Luckily I managed to take back the control on steering, but you can imagine how scarry the rest of the trip felt.

Might be bad weather conditions and just an unlucky experience, but honestly I lost trust in these tyres and I only experienced one winter season with them.

I'd definitely wouldn't buy them again nor recommend them to anyone.

It just gripped and gripped and gripped on slush, on snow, was happy on ice too.
Soft compound helped with comfort and noise.
On wet felt squishy and a particular sound was noticeable while on speed/acceleration. The sound stopped when gas pedal was released.
Upgraded later to WS80 and was not disappointed.

I purchased these tires this winter and have been very impressed with their performance. They provide excellent grip on both dry and wet surfaces, as well as on the light snow we experienced this season. I tested their limits and found that they only begin to exhibit slight understeer when exceeding the speed limit by 50% in corners. These tires are ideal for drivers who prioritize a defensive driving style.
