Tires last about 5 track days over the course of 7 months and 1,842 miles. Overall, they give you about 5 good laps before they become greasy, but are still very manageable after laps 6-7. They do become slower though. Fastest lap needs to be achieved early on in the session. Second half will not yield a personal best, even if you are driving faster/better.

The P1 is a really nice steering tire, and if you get it in the right window, it's fast. But on my vehicle, it overheats very quickly. A good autocross tire, but not a good track day tire.

Bridgestone Potenza RE 71RS

The Potenza RE-71RS perfected suits my NA Miata autocross car and has several advantages over the previous RE-71R. I did not expect such a significant improvement in comfort and noise compared the RE-71R, but the result is a very pleasant on road driving experience. Wet grip is excellent, it feels comparable to Conti ECS now and very confident. Heat tolerance also seems better based on a few autocross event - the Miata is too light to give stress these tires but I feel they are faster with each run whereas with 2 drivers the RE-71R could become slightly greasy feeling on a hot day. Dry grip is incredibly strong although it feels like more slip angle is required than the RE-71R. Steering has traded some of the instant response of the RE-71R for a more progressive limit behavior and improved on-center tracking. I prefer the slightly more relaxed steering response and stiffer effort buildup for street driving. For autocross I preferred the immediate response of the RE-71R, but have been able to quickly adjust to the RE-71RS. Overall this is a solid improvement on the RE-71R. I have only done 3 autocross events so it is too early to rate wear, but so far this is looking like a longer wearing tire than the RE-71R.

The RE-71RS's track pace lives up to the reputation, but it's also a very intuitive tire to drive with good steering feedback right up to the limit and forgiving recovery. On the BRZ consistency has been decent. It's definitely quicker in lap 2-3 on hot days than at the end of a 20 minute session, but after the peak it is still precise and stabilizes at a pace still quicker than the Hankook RS4 tires I previously ran. On a cooler day (50-55F) I set my quickest laps on the 5th or 6th lap and consistency felt good through the whole 20 minute session. After 3 track days and at -1.6deg camber in the front the center rib is down to 2/32nds on the front tires. The outer shoulder still have 4-5/32nds, so I'm hoping with more frequent rotations to get 3-4 more track days from this set of RE-71RS. Even if the wear slows down, I'll change back to a more endurance focused tire since these are just too expensive to consume multiple sets a season. They're well worth it if lap times are a high priority.<br />

Some other high points of the RE-71RS include great wet grip and surprisingly decent comfort for a 200TW tire. It feels stiff, but not punishing and has a very controlled feel after impacts. It's still an enjoyable tire to drive on the street as the precise steering is noticeable at street speeds too.

Bridgestone Potenza Race

I bought this set of Potenza Race as a dedicated track tire, discounted due to being 2 year old production. I ended up putting a few thousand miles onto them this year mostly on the street. I was most surprised by how comfortable they were for being such a hard-carcassed tire. The only issue I had with them for day to day driving was stone pickup. <br />

The most interesting characteristic is that they start out a little numb in terms of steering feel, but the harder you push them the better they feel. Getting to the limit, they are confidence inspiring. It's like they're not meant to be worked at less than 7 tenths, which makes sense considering it's a 200TW track tire. <br />

I only used them in the rain a few times and they were fine, but I didn't push them in the wet. That couple thousand road miles doesn't seem to have worn them all all, so I'm banking on getting at least 3 track weekends on them in 2026.

Really disappointing. It gives great traction and feedback for a few laps and then it literally dies and becomes an average road tyre. Balance went all over the place with intense understeer, vibration, and average braking. It picks up a lot of debris which seems to affect it more than similar tyres. Not recommended.

Amazing tire ! Great grip on dry and wet also ! I had YOKOHAMA AD08R before and now try AD09 which is better ! Surpise also with very well brakes with this tire ! Very satisfied !

These tyres completely change the behaviour of my very efficient but boring Model 3. With touring tyres like the Michelin Primacy the car is difficult to control when sliding and on wet roads: all electronic systems make the car hard to control. <br />
With the InterStates semi-slicks the car was very predictable on the dry track and the car gave me enough confidence to really push my daily driver to the limit.<br />
Excellent grip and steering feedback: very direct steering.<br />
Back home the tyres were very noisy: my comfort sedan felt like a go kart again.

Fitted to a Mazda MX5 Mk3. Car runs 180 bhp and is set up for moderate track use and daily driving.<br />
Comfort and noise are significantly better than more tyres with more aggressive treads.<br />
Survived a monsoon level on a motorway so impressive wet weather grip. Not yet used in sub 5C conditions.<br />
Exceptional track handling.<br />
Recommended.

Davanti Protoura Race

Fitted to track day/hill climb (+ odd local trips on B and C roads) Westfield. Replaced set of Federals. Quite sensitive to tyre pressure settings. Unlikely to be used in wet! Wear rate already appears higher than Federals but performance is the measure not miles. Feedback figure is a bit of a crock because it has much to do with the setup of the car as well as the tyres.

Like most people here. I came to complain that these set of tires are nowhere near the good old 08R. <br />
<br />
However I find myself in love with this. I mostly spirited driving my shitbox with 4-5 trackday session per year. It suit me and my skill level so well. After about 3 trackday session. I still have somewhat 5-6 mm tread left. And i live in a very hot & humid region (avg 30c and maximum 42c max in summer with avg humidity 65-70%). It can tolerate extreme heat on track so well but trade off for a lot of hardcore dry grip lost on track that i get used to get on 08R. Wet grip also improved a bit too when compare to the 08R. <br />

Long story short, it’s decent but not as good as the old 08R. Last longer, harder compound and tolerate the heat more than 08R.<br />

Buy again? For me, Yes. It suit my usage. But if you’re looking for hardcore track performance and living in colder climate. I think A052 is the one to go (for 15” size)
