185/55 R16 Tyre Review Highlights
Writing about the Vredestein Quatrac rated 82%

Driving on mostly country roads for 7000 average miles
I purchased a full set Nov 24 so I've driven with them for a full year and am very happy with their performance. I've used them in snow on a few occasions and provide better grip than the Bridgestone A005's that they replaced. Saying that, both tyres are way superior to the factory fitted summer Bridgestone's which were hopeless in snow and ice. I much prefer the Vredesteins for winter than the A005's but I think for the A005's provided better handling for normal conditions. I would definitely buy them again but may try Bridgestone Turanza when I need to replace.

Driving on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
I have travelled 5000 summer miles in my (used) Honda Jazz on a new set of GT Radial FE1 City. They were fitted by the car dealer as part of the purchase - I did not choose them. Compared to the Michelin Cross Climate 2 that were fitted to my Mk7 Honda Civic I don't feel confident at all in the wet and, even in the dry/damp when 'pushing on' through a series of direction changes in bends, there is a distinct feeling of understeer. They are quiet, and seem robust - having clipped a kerb with no damage - but I am going to replace them with winter tyres because temperatures where I live will be below 10 deg C for months, and snow/ice/heavy rain are normal at times in winter.

Driving on a combination of roads for 47000 average miles
Excellent all round tire for an exceptionally low price compared to the more famous brands, definitely pick this one when the price difference is significant, I would definitely buy it again for my Honda Jazz Hybrid! 75000 km and they still had some life left in them, no relevant drop in wet and dry performance experienced throughout the life. Surprisingly resistant also to high temperatures. I drove between Switzerland, Germany and Italy, very well balanced behaviour and under different conditions such as autobahn speeds at full load, twisty roads under heavy rain, foggy winter highways and city streets.

Writing about the Continental UltraContact rated 73%
while driving a Honda Jazz
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 spirited miles
UltraContact has excellent comfort and below average noise level. The rolling resistance is great, so it has a fuel-saving character. It has a long-life as the opposite of former Continental products.
Softly designed sidewall and sholder provides comfort but they causes some disadvantages about handling. While hard cornering in the limits, the tyre tends to roll onto its sidewall. This situation causes the handling reduction and completely loss of steering feedback. Even on daily drive, it has a numb steering feeling.
It has great wet and dry braking performance. Its aquaplanning performance is good as well.

Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 spirited miles
Overall an excellent tire which will last up to 50.000 KM.
BUT I found them very soft. maybe too soft. I lost the grippy responsive feel of the steering wheel. if your driving style is sporty don't buy them, but if you drive mostly city and in average speeds these are very good tires.
I'm planning to move them to the rear axle and put sportier tires in the front. Probably the Kumho Ecsta HS52 (value for money and sportier) since continental PremiumContact 7 are nit available in 185/55r16

Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
I’ve had these tyres now for about 5000 miles now and I must say I’m very pleased. The wear seems better so far than the reviews say and I don’t baby the car.
An even split of day to day runnings, moterway and b road blasts give me a good idea of what they’re capable of.
Dynamics of the car are stable and consistent, surprisingly communicative and you feel what they’re doing very well. In hotter weather when pushing on you can feel the tread through the steering getting pushed about so not the best but that’s really faster than you want to be going anyway. Expected for an all weather tyre.

Driven in snow to and they do fantastic, very grippy and the wet performance is fantastic. Compared to my previous summer tyres these are miles above with hydroplaning as well.

Overall would get again and couldn’t recommend more especially for the price.

Driving on mostly town for 30000 average miles
Dry Grip: Fantastic and consistent for the whole duration of the tire. Grip seemed to fade after 45,000 Km.
Wet Grip: Didn't need it much but was quite pleased from it when needed.
Road feedback: Soft tyres with more that enough road feedback , especially when the road is not smooth.
Handling: More than enough for a passenger car
Wear: They tyre stayed consistent with its performance in all aspects until 45,000 Km which is good. But after that it needed replacement ASAP. I usually dont feel i should change tyres before 50k Km so the wear could be a bit better.
Comfort: Comfortable on comfortable roads, decent on bad roads.
Buy again: Definitely, the tyres best feature is the fuel consumption which saved me a lot over the time i was using it. Lower my average fuel consumption by about 0.2 L/100 Km.

Driving on a combination of roads for 38000 average miles
Extremely well performing tire in all conditions, if you don't push it too hard (especially when the temperatures are in the 30s). They're a very good fit for my Hybrid Jazz, that I drive in Swiss weather all year long; lots of wet and cold don't make the tires feel unsafe in any circumstance; even snow performance is acceptable. The noise levels are also quite good, and the wear is surprisingly low without much of an ageing effect of the rubber. I am now at 38000 miles and there is still quite a lot of tread available. Considering the price of this tire is at least 30% lower than the premium brands (Bridgestone, Michelin...) and that for my car Pirelli and Continental are not available, I am finding it very hard to buy another tire for my car! Exceptional tire for the price.

Writing about the Maxxis Premitra All Season AP3 rated 67%
while driving a Nissan Note E11
Driving on mostly country roads for 1300 easy going miles
I bought a full set of Maxxis Premitra AP3 tyres to replace the old, worn Nexen summer tyres that came with the car. The improvement was immediate, with better grip and control, and even the sound of the tyres is more appealing. I wouldn’t say they’re quieter, but they do have a more pleasant, lower tone. The water-dispersing ability is vastly superior—where the Nexens made it feel like I was braking every time I drove through a deeper puddle, the Maxxis tyres just glide through without losing speed.

As I’m driving a small, light car at reasonable speeds on narrow country roads, I can’t speak for how boy racers might feel about this product. But for the miserable, wet weather of this Irish summer, I find them perfectly adequate.

Driving on mostly country roads for 20000 spirited miles
Being using these tires for the last 4 years, done about 20000km on them and the grip is amazing, its on a Honda Fit RS GP4 and the tires grip really well on the dry. Didn't get a lot of mileage out of it probably because of the way i drive. but i would recommend these tires for someone who drives spiritedly time to time i have confidence of the grip. being through a lot of pot holes because i am from a South Asian country with bad roads but no issues with the tires.

I've using this tire since 2016 until 2024 still perform at it's best like new. Already clocking 70K km but still at 50% wear.
