Coche de pasajeros Invierno Turismo Premium Tyres Tyre Review Highlights
Continental VikingContact 8 — rated 51%
while driving a Volkswagen Tiuan R Line for 500 miles
I've had these tires on my 2026 Tiguan and the first impressions are very underwhelming. At very low speeds (residential roads), the car is constantly losing the back end in slow speed corners. I would not feel confident that in the event of a highway speed situation, that I would lose the car completely. My previous Hakkapeliitta SUV (non-studded winter) were lightyears ahead of these tires.

Michelin Alpin 7 — rated 77%
while driving a Hyundai i30 for 25000 miles
Used them all over Europe, plus the Nordic region. Very good in dry and wet. Decent grip and handling in little snow and slush conditions. But in the cold winters of Sweden and Norway, where snow and ice is the norm, a nordic winter tyre is highly recommended. So after moving to Scandinavia, i had to replace them with the ContactViking 8, as the Michelin's ice and deep snow grip was non-existent. Overall, a very good tire for south-mid european winters, where rain and cold is the norm. Just avoid them if you are in a Nordic country, as the ice traction and handling is not enough.

Laufenn I Fit+ — rated 89%
while driving a Kia Motors Ceed 1.6LS for 5000 miles
The 3 reviews before me helped me choose these tires, which exceeded my expectations. They have an unbeatable price-quality ratio. Quite safe on dry and wet roads. Very good on snow and ice. A little weaker on slush and roads with a lot of water. They evacuate it more difficult. For the first 5000 miles, they convinced me. They are trusted tires.

Hankook Winter I cept RS3 — rated 51%
while driving a Dacia Sandero 1.4 for 18000 miles
This is the fourth winter season I'm using Hankook icept rs3 winter tyres. After having a very positive experience with Hankook tyres before (Ventus prime 4 and icept rs2 winter) I thought this was a no brainer. I was wrong.

Straight after the purchase the tires were having two issues - vibrations and pulling to the left. The solution was to rotate the tires front to back. It did help, but some light-ish vibrations continued to be felt and noticeably coming from the rear tires. I've tried a few different tire shops for balance, but the problem remained. The car was checked of course and showed no issues that would cause this behaviour.

For the first two seasons, everything seemed fine. I did notice a slight increase in fuel consumption, but I do think that's the way with all winter tyres. They weren't even noisy as some reviews say they are, at least not on my car. Comfort wise they were and remained OK, but nothing special.

Third season, after having done around 9000 miles (15000 kms), showed some noticeable decrease in performance in deeper snow, a mixture of snow and ice or just ice. I didn't get stuck anywhere but I was negativly surprised indeed.

The fourth season, after about 17000 miles (25000 kms), showed that performance decrease even more. The tyres were basically useless on the ice or mixture of ice and snow. Also, they showed more rolling resistance on the dry surface. I did a thorough inspection of the tires and found that while the tread is around 6,5 mms the dry rot has appeared almost everywhere on the surface of the tyres. Not really happy with that. I have used these tyres only during winter season, my car is garaged and regularly cleaned. I check tire pressure at least twice a month. I was expecting way more from Hankook and will not be using them any time soon. I was counting on these tyres for at least two more seasons, but this one is their last one.

Excellent in fresh snow, hard packed snow/icy roads, and good on dry and wet roads. Very quiet and comfortable.

Continental VikingContact 8 — rated 79%
while driving a BMW BMW 330i Xdrive Gran Turismo for 4000 miles
These tires are incredibly balanced, comfortable, and confidence inspiring in snow and icy conditions. I live in West Michigan, and we have been hammered with snow for the last couple months, so I’ve been able to test these tires in all types of weather. They are incredibly comfortable, soaking up all sorts of potholes, and chopped up icy roads. I have not noticed any noise/tones from them, and they don’t have any issues with tram-lining on crosscut concrete. They are very grippy on smooth ice, and pull through slushy snow well, but if they have a weakness it is in deeper slush. Sometimes they struggle to gain traction when accelerating through deep slushy snow, or when trying to turn and accelerate through corners. I haven’t noticed any uneven wear, but it’s still early. I’ll update my review once the winter season is over and I put my summer wheels and tires on.

Nokian WR Snowproof — rated 74%
while driving a MINI Cooper S for 2000 miles
It constantly underperforms on warmer wet, acceleration usually comes with slipping and braking more aggressively also engages ABS too often on wet days. On snow it performed fairly well. Confidently cornering and braking.
It can surprise on icy roads where it looses traction with ease. Overall not bad budget friendly winter tires, but for peace of mind would go with higher rated models.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 — rated 94%
while driving a Volvo S60 R AWD for 6200 miles
I’ve used this tyre for the current winter season, and it has performed much better than I expected. I live in Sweden in an area with a lot of variation in winter weather – everything from heavy snow to very slippery ice, as well as dry and rainy days.

In dry conditions the tyre responds well and provides a smooth driving experience. My previous winter tyre experience is mainly with studded tyres, and the comfort difference is huge. These feel much smoother and very quiet. I’m using a relatively small size, 195/65R15, which from what I understand is Nokian’s sweet spot. In larger sizes they seem to get outperformed by some competitors in terms of noise.

The main disappointment, although still acceptable compared to my past experiences, is the wet handling. The tyre can feel nervous in the wet, and aquaplaning resistance is not great – it doesn’t take much rain or very high speeds before it starts to lose stability. But again, it’s a winter tyre, and I’ve had worse experiences, especially with studded tyres.

In proper winter conditions the tyre really shines. Ice braking is not noticeably worse than my previous studded tyres, and the snow performance is outstanding – the best I’ve ever experienced. On icy roads with a layer of snow, the handling is very confidence‑inspiring. Even at fairly high speeds it’s hard to challenge the tyre; it may feel a bit nervous at the limit, but the grip is definitely there.

Overall, the winter performance is exceptional. For someone living in an area with harsh winters, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 is definitely a tyre worth buying.

Michelin Alpin 7 — rated 79%
while driving a Volkswagen ID3 for 3100 miles
My first winter tire set on a VW ID.3.
Now it’s truly winter, so they have proven themselves not only on dry and wet roads, but also on snow and ice. Overall, this is a very reliable tire. It provides noticeably good grip on snowy and slushy roads as well. In city traffic, it allows for much more confident driving and lane changes. Ice is, of course, unpredictable, so I was cautious there too, but on snow it is clearly a reliable and stable tire.

On dry roads, it is slightly louder than summer tires, which is natural. Energy consumption is also higher by about 2–3 kWh/100 km, but I believe this was also due to the colder autumn and winter days. It is a good choice for an electric car as well, because overall it remains quiet and does not increase consumption significantly, while delivering reliable performance. I would definitely buy this tire again—if it didn’t wear out sooner than I plan to change the car.

excellent grip on snow and ice , better grip than blizzaks 5 when cornering . tried them in moutain roads by -12 degrees C , going uphill (10%) on 5cm snow: no problem. I used Konig chains in 20cm snow because the snow plow hadn't cleared the way ...
