Not really sporty but reliable - in my opinion a perfect match to a car which isn't sporty but reliable.
After changing to Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 in 245/45 R19 I would prefer the GYs. Much more responsive and not more wear.

Tables are ranked by TR Score, which rates each tyre out of 10 using independent test results and owner reviews weighted by how much evidence backs them. Unscored tyres link to their pages, where a review counts towards a score.

Michelin EU label data
66 of the 170 tyres on record carry EU label data. These are the range's label headliners, using each tyre's best available size figures.
A Best wet grip
28 tyres reach EU wet grip class A. The highest scoring:
A Lowest rolling resistance
The most fuel efficient choice: 16 tyres reach rolling resistance class A. The highest scoring:
66dB Quietest tyres
The quietest tyres in the range are labelled from 66 dB external noise:
Label values come from the EU EPREL database and vary by size - the figures here are each tyre's best declared size. Wet grip and rolling resistance run from class A (best) to E; noise is the measured drive-by figure. A good label is a floor, not a verdict: the tests and rankings above tell you far more.
New Michelin tyres
The newest arrival in the range is the Michelin X Ice Snow+. 7 tyres have joined in the last two years:
| Tyre | Season | On the market since | TR Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Michelin X Ice Snow+ | Winter | 2026 | 8.5 |
| Michelin Pilot Sport 5 Energy | Summer | 2026 | 8.5 |

| Michelin Primacy 5 Energy | Summer | 2025 | 7.9 |
| Michelin Primacy 5 | Summer | 2025 | 8.8 |
New tyres take time to earn a TR Score - tests have to be run and owner reviews have to arrive. A missing score is a data gap, not a verdict.

The most recent reviews, in their own words
Definitely comfortable, safe tires that provide amazing grip on snow and ice. I'm very satisfied, I won't use another tire.
The tires are very silent and comfortable. Despite this they are very grippy in the dry and wet and give a good feedback. Driven in 40+ degrees in summer until now in rainy 5 degrees autumn and they make the drive 100% secure.
The wet and dry grip has been exceptional with low road noise and moderate harshness. Handling precision and responsiveness have been good, not exceptional. The tires have held inflation pressure very well with minimal leakage. This is my second set and unless Michelin comes out with a better max performance summer tire, I'll buy them again.
These tyres are still dangerous in cold damp conditions, they behave like budget tyres. I know they’re summer tyres but their prime operating window is so narrow, and the performance falls off a cliff face. They’re so bad I had to get them checked to see if they were fake.
The Alpin 5 is a reliable, comfortable tire that is perfect for European winters with lots of rain but little snow and ice. I mainly use them for city driving and on the autobahn at speeds up to 200 km/h when conditions allow, and I really enjoy the ride.

Run Michelin tyres?
Review your tyres and help the next driver choose. It takes about five minutes, and every rating on this page came from a driver who took them.
Where this data comes from
Rankings combine independent test results with owner reviews submitted through this site, each naming the car, the tyre, the size and the distance covered. Reviews are checked by hand before publication, and the page rebuilds automatically as new evidence arrives.
About the TR Score
The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 using independent test results and the full body of owner reviews, weighted by how much evidence backs them.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
