205/60 R16 Tyre Review Highlights
Writing about the Michelin Primacy 4
rated 77%
The most differentiating aspect of the Primacy 4 is the consistency of it's performance throughout the entire life of the tyre. Even more in wet, the performance is very satisfactory. Even when worn out (about 2,5mm tread) i can manage 100~110Km/h (60-70mph) without surprises.
The compound is quite soft, to the point i've found the car a bit "mushy" when on the limit, but raising 6PSI (from 32 to 38, and 30 to 36 in the rear) transformed the experience: The steering is much more precise and communicative. Too bad i've only found it towards the end of the tyre life, I could enjoy much more confidence if tried this before.
Despite this inconvenience, I will probably replace them with Primacy 4 Plus or Primacy 5, if it becomes available in my country (Brazil)
Another great thing with Michelins in general is how sturdy they are in bad roads. I've never had a puncture because of a pothole, despite he bruises in the sidewalls, i never had a bubble or real damage with Michelins. The wheels may be dented, but the french stays still.

As always, Michelins are top level regarding safety and wet performance, but I feel that the Primacy 4 are a bit "mushy" when at the recommended pressure of 32PSI. When raised to 38PSI it was a totally different story, with crisper response and less boaty when on the limit. Unfortunately I've only realized this towards the end of life of the set. But overall it's a very quality tyre and despite all the competition, I will probably stick to Michelin again, because one thing that surprised me is that I'm not having any performance degradation towards the end of tread depth. Even on wet surfaces they are safe and predictable. Of course I don't risk but it's surprisingly good even when you get over 110Km/h/65mph on wet even at 2.5mm tread.

I bought these new in 2022 and have driven them for four winters. My impressions are very good, especially when there's a lot of snow in the winter. They've never let me down, and I've never gotten stuck even when the snow level looks scary. They're not afraid of ruts in snow and mud, and they perform predictably on a mixed road surface of ice, water, or snow.
For snowy winters, they're a fantastic option.
There's still plenty of tread left; they haven't reached the wear mark. At first, I was worried they might be too soft and wouldn't withstand potholes or cuts, but everything is fine.
On the downside, in dry weather, there's a subjective feeling that the braking distance is longer. Their softness, which is a plus in cold weather, leads to the car becoming slightly wobbly as the weather warms up. This could, of course, be due to the 205/60 R16 size.
For the anti-skid system to work on ice, you have to really try hard; I did this specifically to understand the limits of these tires. As with braking on ice, it's best not to mess around with them, as they certainly don't measure up to studded tires.
The highway ride is quite comfortable; you don't worry about speeds above 90 mph, even on wet roads. But its performance in the snow is beyond praise. While SUVs are frantically searching for cleared patches of road, I calmly make my way.

I inherited them from the previous owner along with the car, so it's hard to say how many miles they've covered in total. All I can say is that they're already six years old. I've put over 20,000 on them now and still use them as summer tires. I haven't tried driving in winter or snow, but in fairly cool weather they don't stiffen up and retain their performance.
They're great in every way, except for one thing: if you drive in hot weather, be aware that they'll wear out quickly, even if the suspension is fine. I haven't encountered any major potholes on the roads, I always checked the suspension, and the tires don't even really need balancing.
But wear in hot weather kills them. As a result, I only have about 3-4 mm left, and the noise has become unbearable.

Overall good, but really nothing stands out about this tyre. Reasonable wear, very good in dry, confident in wet, average in snow.
Reasonably quiet and comfortable.
Great buy at around EUR 83 for 205 60 16.

Very quiet and comfortable. Average wear. Very sensitive to bad roads and potholes and prone to damaging.
At around 20.000 km and 2 years tread started being crunchy and flaky.
It is sensitive to curb chafing and on three out of four tires nylon tread of the sidewall is visible.
Overall grip is more than sufficient but tire is not very resilient.

I have not had these tires for very long, but my impressions are generally positive. There were no problems with balancing. At speeds of 120-150 it behaves perfectly, no vibrations or anything like that. I did not hear any abnormal noise, at least at low speeds. The name of the tire really corresponds to it, the tires are very comfortable. The set cost me $200. For its price, I definitely recommend it!

I've driven them 70.000 km for 5 years. Excellent wet and dry performance, car still handles pretty good in both wet and dry conditions. My previous tyres were michelin primacy 4. stiffer and noisier than michelins but the sidewalls are so strong. Also no sidewall cracks in my tyres.
I want to buy it again but they no longer produce 92 load index for new ziex.

Wonderful tyre. I am absolutely impressed after the harsh winter of 2026. I use it in Hungary with summers reaching 40 °C and winters well below freezing (especially in 2026 with several weeks of snow and freezing rain). After 3 years, I must say this the perfect all-year tyre for this climate.
Jon claims that some snow grip should be sacrificed for better wet performance, but after this winter, I dare to disagree. Michelin understood that you need every piece of grip in the snow to keep you mobile and safe even in rare winter conditions. This is exactly what makes CC2 a real all-year tyre. True, there is some uncertainty in heavy rain, but you can easily manage it with reduced speed. A perfect tyre on the dry, limited wear even in summer heatwaves and winter-tyre-like capabilities in the snow: a miracle tyre indeed.

Formerly I most used Michelin-tires. Being older, more lazy, read about all-weather tires on this website; quality had become better. And indeed this first try was excellent. First used this set on a Peugeot 407 hdi 2.0 en last years on a -508. After 59000 miles, two tires have 2.5 mm left and the other two little bit more than 3 mm; I didn't expect so many miles from all-weather tires. Of course numbers 1-10 are relative and subjective, and my opinion also, but I've always been very satisfied with these tires. In wet conditions, they gave me a great sense of security. I enjoyed the comfort and the lack of noise; better than ever before. It's fair to say that I'm a relaxed diesel driver. Driving isn't a sport for me, but a way to cover distances as safely and comfortably as possible. Cruising speed on the highway is for 90% approximately 70 to 75 mph. It's a pity that Generation 3 doesn't perform better in the comparison tests now.

Initial impressions on the tyre are very good especially wet, snowy and icy grip performance. I happened to use the tyre in a heavy snowstorm with snow reaching up to 10-20 cms. The tyre managed to do well in these conditions.
