Writing about the Bridgestone Turanza T005

T005 was originally mounted on Opel Insignia B. After 5 years on car and 35000km drive and it’s time to replace them. Well, these tyre is like love-hate relationship. T005 has strong and weak sides. Top highlight these tyre is fuel consumption - really low, even 0,5 liters lower as wintercontact 870 in long term statistic, some routes I could reach 4.5 l/100km with 200hp on 40km long journey.

I’ve been running these tyres for about 8,000km on a square 245/45R18 setup, coming from both the Bridgestone Potenza Sport and Pirelli P Zero PZ4. Here are my impressions so far:
What I like
Comfort (for a UHP tyre) – noticeably more compliant than both the Potenza Sport and PZ4
Low-speed refinement – relatively quiet under 90 km/h with good absorption over small bumps
Grip (so far) – haven’t fully pushed them yet, but initial confidence is strong
Wear rate – seems to be holding up better than my previous Potenza Sport and PZ4
Aesthetics – really attractive sidewall design
Cons
Steering feel – noticeably more vague and muted compared to the Potenza Sport
Big bump absorption – still not as well-controlled as the PZ4 over larger undulations
High-speed noise – tyre roar is similar to the Potenza Sport which is pretty loud, especially above 120 km/h
Dry braking – feels slightly longer than the Potenza Sport, though not by a huge margin
Managed to get these at a really good price, which made the decision easier. Initially, I was considering the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Continental SportContact 7 after not quite liking the feel of the Bridgestone Turanza 6—which, to be fair, is a great tyre but just didn’t suit what I was looking for.

I am coming from Hankook Kinergy 4S2. These were excellent all season tires.
I changed to Continental AllSeason Contact 2.
Compared to the Hankook, the Continentals offer similar grip in dry and wet, though braking is noticeably worse.
However, where the Continentals suck is feel and input lag.
The continentals are absolutely not enjoyable to drive.
When you turn the steering wheel, you need to wait ages for the tires to react. I am absolutely stunned that Continental could create such a tire. On a few occasions I swerved left and right quickly in succession - the car feels like its on pudding, and the feeling is absolute crap.
I do not recommend these types - I have had many all season tires in the past and none behaved like this.

Last month, I bought Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires in 245/45/R18 (XL) for my Jaguar, and they’ve been a total game changer.
My first impressions after about 1,000 miles are very positive. They’re excellent in cold weather, with strong braking performance and very good communication through the steering, which makes me feel much more confident. We recently had some snow, and they handled it without any issues at all.
In general, they’re comfortable, but if you hit a pothole, you definitely feel it — the impact is transmitted straight to your spine. In all other situations, though, I have no complaints.
Fuel consumption is similar to my summer tires. If there’s any increase at all, it’s most likely due to using the heated seats, not the tires themselves.
It’s too early to judge wear, as they’re still new, but so far I’m extremely happy with them.

I’ve driven about 13,000 miles over the past year on Pirelli P Zero 245/45/R18 tires.
Starting with the positives: on wet summer rainy days, they are excellent. In corners, they feel glued to the tarmac, and the grip is very confidence-inspiring. Their behavior in the wet is a complete game changer.
In dry conditions, however, I feel less confident. The front end feels quite light, and the feedback from the front wheels isn’t as communicative as I would like. On the plus side, they are very comfortable and surprisingly fuel-efficient.
The downside is wear. They wear out faster than I expected. Based on the current rate, I estimate around 18,000–20,000 miles maximum, and I probably have only about 5,000 miles left on them. Considering that they’re not cheap, I expected a longer lifespan.
Overall, they’re great in the wet and comfortable to drive, but due to the wear and dry-road feedback, I’ll be trying something different next time.

Insignia b 2.0d 170 4x4. In dry conditions, the feel, steering response, cornering, and braking are very good. In wet conditions, it's also very good, with minimal understeer. In snow, it's very good from a standstill, braking is a bit weaker, and it's worst on snow and ice in tight corners; the car tends to pull out sideways. For FWD, it's probably only for city driving; for 4x4, I'd probably buy it again.

Comfort - 10/10.. probably the quietest and comfy tyres money can get
Road feedback - 5/10 - good at low speeds, a bit all over the place at high speeds

Excellent all-season tyres. Summer performance on dry and wet roads is as good as dedicated summer tyres. Much more comfortable and quieter than my old Sailun Attrezzo ZSR2.
The real surprise is winter grip. On snow, they behave predictably, very close to my previous Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 winter tyres. Acceleration, steering, and braking feel safe and controlled.
The only expected weakness is on black ice and wet packed snow, but even studded tires struggle there. A great balanced choice for mild winters.

I got these to replace Dunlop winter sport 5's as they had started cracking due to age.
These have been brilliant since installation on 3.0i rwd car. Really impressed me on very slippery Scottish side streets at -7C that hardly seen much traffic.
Very comfortable compared to the runflats.
Gives me great confidence manoeuvring in the winter.
Would recommend them to anyone looking for winter tyres.

These came already fitted to second hand car so can't comment too much on longevity. Fine in the dry but downright dangerous in wet / cold and break loose very easily. Car is tracking fine and tyres around 70% tread left so should be still okay. I couldn't recommend these purely on safety I have had budget tyres before (Tourador, i-Link) and never felt unsafe driving on them. I think I will be replacing them before they wear out.
